It was a tough thing to do, I can't imagine how hard to make people to clearly understand what is Bitcoin and what is crypto. It was a challenge to catch someone's attention when they are already minding Bitcoin as a way to lose their money.

The only thing to do in order to make people believe and give a positive look toward bitcoin is to show and prove to them that we are already using it and even make money. Their mind will open up for sure once they have seen it with their two eyes. We have to clear things that make them doubt and give them the support they need.

Well, I pretty much tried to do everything I could. Now after they listened to all that I said, watched everything as that I showed to them as a demo, they did thier own research. They started shooting a few questions like
  • See how often the price drops, this could be a bubble
  • See Google tells crypto currency is used in black market to keep anonymity and make illegal trasactions
  • See these types of currencies are used for the purpose of gambling to be in disguise

Bitcoin isn't for everyone, and I wouldn't push people who aren't comfortable with it to use it. Don't forget that Bitcoin also has a complex user experience and requires people to manage their private keys - many people, especially those without technical knowledge, can fail here. Users click "ok" without reading wallet's warning to back up their seed, or they store their seed in email drafts and lose coins after getting hacked, and so on. It's never too late to adopt Bitcoin, maybe in 5-10 years they'll come to it on their own, when they and Bitcoin will be ready.

When I heard about BTC first come to my mind, is I need to tell my close friend about this thing. So I went to him and tell him everything I learned about this stuff. He quickly understood what I am saying cause I have given him examples that will be logically digested by his mind. That was four years ago and now he still contributing to our village with lots of his learned knowledge about BTC to our community and it is nice to have someone whom you can teach others with what good things BTC can do to the world.

You had a good experience with your friend but most people do not want to listen or learn about bitcoins. The only way to develop their interest for bitcoins is to show them your earnings in bitcoins. That's the only way anyone would believe on us. Its hard for people to learn new things and new technology.

for me the best way is to introduce it to someone is to share your personal experience(the good, the bad) about bitcoin or cryptocurrency and ask if they are interested or at least curious and if they are not I would stop the topic immediately. but if they are interested I usually do what you mentioned show value, how it started you, wallet, how it works, etc.. in short the basic stuff about bitcoin or cryptocurrency. I don't give them the idea of grand scheme about bitcoin. I just introduce it as a way of new transaction, option for investment, etc..

It's hard to introduce bitcoin to someone that does not interested in it. If you want to explain bitcoin to no coiners, then you should explain first the history of money, and why is it not that valuable. The power of bitcoin is connected to money. So first they have to understand money and how it works, then explain bitcoin in a simple way.

Hello,

I was thinking and wondering of different ways to introduce my family, friends and colleagues to bitcoin and I tried to convince them, but couldn't pitch in perfectly to get them going.

Things I tried
  • Showed them the current value of BTC pegged to fiat, which did get thier attention for a while.
  • Told them about how it all started, how the community adopted the use of BTC and how it all boomed.
  • Showed them my wallets : how easy and fast it is to send and recieve to almost anywhere in the world as long as there is an internet connection.
  • Introduced them to a few exchanges to show how easy it is to buy or sell whenever they want to.
  • Told and proved to them how secure and anonymous a transaction is and how fast it can be for cross border transactions compared to other financial institutions.

So basically, what I am looking for as an answer is, an approach that can be used in order to gain interest of people, stating all the good things and the bad things about BTC in a manner that a "noob" can understand and try to think, yes this is already beneficial to others, why not I try it too ?

All suggestions are welcomed.

Thank you

I sometimes start with informing them about the scams and let them be aware of it. They'll understand that I'm informing them for their own safety too. Its my way of acknowledging that there are scams here, and a start for me to explain that this technology wasn't all about that, I'll try to make them understand that it happens in any currency. Knowledge about this scams will help them avoid it in the future. And I'm really just informing them as their concerned friend.

One way too is to start telling them the history of why bitcoin was created in the first place. You should explain the history of the world, and why did Satoshi created this in the first place, it is to solve a certain problem with fiat currency. Knowing the root of a thing will make them understand it too, that it was meant for something bigger, and it doesn't just pop out of nowhere. And if they become interested about it, they'll work their way in researching about it, we hope so, but if not, its all right. Don't waste your time pushing people to learn about something they didn't want to learn, at least you take your shot.

All the steps you've taken at OP creator Protrader786 are in place. You've done quite a good job, I'll give you credit for that. People are more moved by the things they see rather than the things you say. Like the saying goes, 'action speaks louder than words'. I wasn't a fan of Cryptocurrency once untill I saw a few persons living it everyday in my neighborhood. How did they live it you might ask?
They made it fun for themselves, speak it, trade it and made occasionally withdrawals before my very eyes, showed me the things things they did and left me to myself. At that point, it was a choice for me either to go with them or not. Not like you force it on anyone, I'm not say that. Or you put it all in there faces and I'm not saying that either.
Do your best and let them choose. If it doesn't boost their curiosity on the field, then it's not their thing at that time. Again, some people might feel, your only doing that just because, there is something for you and as such, they tend to resist. It's fine, let them be. In time, they just might come to you.

I'm sharing my experience in introducing bitcoin to my friends. Some of my friends curious and asks about how can I generate income online. My answer is it's from bitcoin. I explain to them simple but informative details about bitcoin and its feature. And show them some of my earnings to inspire them not to brag. It's only a small amount but in our country, it's a decent amount that can inspire them to learn more about it. They are starting to get curious about how I earn that much. Lastly, I advise them to read more about bitcoin and tell them that they need to figure out my ways of earning. But sadly, one of my friends joined the High Yield Investment Program and feel disappointed in the weeks he spends promoting referral links in many Facebook groups, didn't gain anything, and did not continue his journey in the bitcoin world. The other one is studying trading. And the other one quit learning about bitcoin because he has other ways to generate income. My way to inspire them is wrong, however, the way I inspire to learn bitcoin is seeing the earning of my friend online.

Aside from that, I think most of the investment is the best way to introduce bitcoin or cryptocurrency since this is where the hype came from and most of the time became popular around the world because of the high market price in the market. Still introducing bitcoin as a digital currency and investment could be the best way, bitcoin is not yet used to transactions in a lot of stores most of the time online which could be common nowadays because of the pandemic, it could be one of the best ways to transact since physical money have a risk of getting corona.

I think Introducing bitcoin as payment is the best way to introduce it this day, also it would be a lot more self if it is adopted in your country when a lot of people is already accepting bitcoin as a transaction currency.

You know, Bitcoin or cryptocurrency could really be a very difficult task to introduce to an ignorant mind on the course. With all the need to know terminologies of the field, coupled with the series of security systems to be put in place and the withdrawal patterns... These and many more scares them, they feel it's just too much to take in and the risk element following the activities of scammers makes it a NO field for them!
The thing is, Bitcoin and cryptocurrency is for everyone and also not for everyone. I say this because, it's the vision for every Bitcoin or cryptocurrency enthusiast to know about Bitcoin and why we are so proud of it but then, not everyone would follow. As such, you show them the path and hope they walk it. If they don't, that's a choice they've made. The least you could do is, respect it.

You already introduce to them what's the highlight with the use of the bitcoin and I think one of the best you should do is show them that you really earn regarding bitcoin.

I also introduce the use of bitcoin to some of my friends because I want them to earn too than risking their money to some of the platforms which are common scams and Ponzi Scheme. Most of the time they ignore me because they think this is just a scam because there are a lot of people lose a lot of money with the use of cryptocurrency.

After a few months, I already made an investment which is my very first own gaming PC and some of them notice this and ask where did you get this and how you earn a large amount of money even you don't have a job and the one thing I answer to them is

"Because of bitcoin"

by that, they are asking time to time what are the things they need to learn and what do I recommend, so I suggest is to use a buy low and sell high technique.

I don't have any update to them right now if they already gained profit or not.

Ps. I'm not a professional investor or trader just a common person want to earn with bitcoin too.

Hello guys, thanks for all the replies, but some of you ask me to let it go  Undecided. Well, I created the topic so as to know on ways that can help them develop a interest into crypto currency, we live in the same household, they see me using it, they see me benifit from it, but still there must have been something lacking which doesn't boost thier confidence on the go to implement the same. Hence I asked for suggestions.

That's good! Getting more people on board, or at least dispelling notions that Bitcoin is "dark" or "bad" money is important!

I recently explained Bitcoin to my SO's mother. She knows I work in Bitcoin, but never really understood it. We had lunch a few weeks ago, and she told me she genuinely wanted to learn more. I just explained that at its basic form, it is a currency just like USD or EUR. Where it differs is the digital aspects: it has increased security and anonymity. She asked about fraud, and I pointed out that Bitcoin transactions can actually be tracked easier than cash, law enforcement can follow transactions if they know the original wallet.

Essentially, there's two approaches I use. First, I keep things nontechnical, most people don't care about the technical stuff, unless they are a tech person themselves. Explain it in basic terms, focusing on the currency and security aspects. Second, I don't defend by going on the attack. When people ask about the negatives of Bitcoin, I instead explain how Bitcoin can actually offer solutions to negative activity.

I think you already did enough just to introduce bitcoin to the people around you. But if they are still not interested, then don't push yourself too much because you will just waste your efforts. For me, it's better to introduce bitcoin to people who are interested and eager to learn. Personally, I have also tried introducing bitcoin to some people around me but of course, not everyone is willing to learn.

Telling only the good side of bitcoin to catch their attention won't really be helpful, I guess? I mean, a lot of people already have misconceptions that bitcoin is like easy money that's why they get interested, but once they realized it's not like that, they will start losing interest.

A good way would be to just gift someone some bitcoin, which would make them look into wallets, how to safely store bitcoin etc. It's a much better incentive to make someone learn about blockchain technology then just lecturing people about it.
I remember doing it and they just became interested when the price increases during 2017 but when the price falls they get not interested. Crypto is only for those whose willing to risk at the same is eager to learn, even we give many details or even free BTC many were not an investor or risky type of persons as they fear some loses.
I only teach bitcoin or tells it only to people who shows interest, I do post sometimes about topic in crypto and only those who will ask and seems interested the only time I will discussed how it works.

Giving them the background about bitcoin and how it has evolved over the past decade. What are the advantages and disadvantages of using it and sharing my personal level experiences with them. Since, I would be knowing the person to whom I am talking so personal experience will play a vital role and being telling the complete truth is expected because you would not like to just tell the best of the story and not ignoring to tell about risks associated with it.

Nah, I guess that not necessary specially when the still didn't get their attention towards Bitcoin on those attempts he made.

Everything you've tried is the very least and effective way to introduce someone to Bitcoin, but If it doesn't work then, there's nothing we can do about it. At least they have heard it from you first, the most trusted person for them. Who knows the next time they hear about it might ignite their interest and start consulting you again, trust me.

There's nothing you can do if the people if the person is not interested even if you tried more harder to introduce bitcoin since there are reasons for theirselves on why they reject it, But if you can see a person has little interest maybe the proof of profits you get is the best tool for you to use so that they will be more curious on how those things work up and so they could try it.
