They do that since they are lazy and want to increase their post count then try to earn a merit out of that. And that is bad action done by newbies so this is one thing need to avoid since we will just waste our account if we did that thing since plagiarism if one of the concerns which is always pointed out by other forum users who report it. Anyways as I see it seems the plagiarism act is lessen maybe the effort of those reputable members who spend their time to do a research and report it to the mods contributes for its elimination.

Like, forget your accounts lol. Don't commit plagiarism because it surely sucks to get your hard work copied and taken as someone else's. Writing great solid content is hard enough to start with.

Indeed that's why its never be a good idea to do that since the original poster will be the rightful one pointed out to be the real one and the copier will given a punishment for doing that, Imagine how hard to rank up these days and we will get ban for doing plagiarism so to avoid this better write our own personal contents since for sure we will get those merits if there are members like what we post here.

1.Go through the forum rules, I believe most of the does and don't are stated there.
2.Respect other people's opinions and if you must say anything contrary, say it in a way that doesn't seem out of place or rude.
3. Don't scam.
4. Do not focus on what you can gain from the forum, also try giving out what you've learnt and the experiences you get, this will help others.
5. Stay positive

I put it to you though, I'm sure a few persons must have suggested it but, most users have departed this forum because they plagiarised someone else content. It's about the rule that stands out more often and one of the never do on the forum. There are a couple of others but plagiarism has been a way towards the end of many. It takes different forms, direct copy and paste, paraphrasing, content spinning or mixing and ahits like that but all in itself is plagiarism. You might escape it for a while and that's because, your user might not have been a concern but trust me, a time would come when it would catch up to you and you might not get a second chance to make things right.

You don't have to do lots of research on what things that you shouldn't do in bitcointalk forum. It is very simple if you ask me. What you need to do is avoid doing things that many people in this forum doesn't like. Those things I mentioned is stated by some of them like do not spam, do not scam, do not plagiarise and many more. In short, follow rules, read, study, learn and be yourself. I also agree that there are many answers already.

Even after receiving assistance, newbies rarely provide feedback whether the issue has been resolved or if they are satisfied with the responses they received. This shows disrespect toward other forum members as well as lack of appreciation for the help they received. You can also add this to the list of things you shouldn't do on the forums.

BandetBulut, I think this thread already has more than enough answers. Perhaps it's time to lock it?

Just keep reading around the forum, OP.
As what CryptopreneurBrainboss said, there are "unwritten rules". It will not lead you to a ban, but it could severely hurt your reputation and you never wanted that to happen to you of course.
Even if you are not into trading stuffs around here, it might affect on how others will see you here.

Goodnight, o_e_l_e_o 🌹
What are the things not to do on the Bitcointalk forum?

1. Do not forget to read the forum rules.
2. Do not spam the forum.
3. Do not cheat on the forum.
4. Do not plagiarise.
5. It is not good to make low quality posts always.
6. Do not fail to give to the forum, by positively contributing to the forum.
7. Do make threads were you have no knowledge.
8. Do not post to impress(else you will tend to plagiarise)
Let me stop here. Many of them are personal and unofficial.  But you can use them. It is important to be yourself.

Plagiarism and spamming in the forum leads to ban of user, let  your main focus to learn and contribute to the forum for the benefit of other users. What ever that you don't have much understanding about use the search button or you can ask here in the forum.
plagiarism has become a severe ban on this forum...

I've seen a lot of accounts that got banned for plagiarism and made a topic about it just to get the attention of other members. if your account doesn't want to be banned then don't do it, besides that you don't make spam post, it's really very disturbing.

Your account was opened on Oct 2 and you created 3 threads on the same day. That looks like breaking a law in this forum, even though I do not know the particular law. You have to avoid doing that in the future before you get called a spammer or anything like that very soon. Another thing you have to avoid is for you to only post on topics or comments you are familiar with. Do not post on topics or respond to an issue if you are not going to be constructive on it.

There is too much to learn here then to start a new thread. You go around different categories in this forum and everything is there for you. I rarely felt any need to start a thread.  People are starting new threads with intentions of accumulating merits that can take them up in rank to qualify for the bounty campaign. That's just my own opinion.

I didn't remember about this rule, (which is I think good if a newbie has a limit upon creating a thread per day) anyone can make a thread as long as it isn't spammed or have a thought that can be considered as a constructive post, even asking here and make thread aren't against the forum rule.

Based on the post history of the OP, it was shared from the article and I don't think this is a good idea which is if OP frequently doing, it will become into spam topic.

A simple piece of advice with OP, just take your time spending on the forum reading the forum rules, especially those sticky threads on this section that will surely help to improve himself before making threads or interacting with different discussions.

Don't just focus on the official/unofficial things OP, there are some unethical things that as humans you're not supposed to engage yourself in just as @aioc has highlighted. These things aren't officially stated on the rules but if found guilty could get you red trusted. Do not encourage companies that doesn't have the interest of the forum or her members at heart.

Project that encourages spamming shoudn't be welcomed, while those that hire members to promote them so they get more publicity and more victims shoudn't also be patronized. All things unethical in the real world aren't also welcomed here which is why plagiarism is highly frowned at as that's stealing.

Listen to all this advice and the forum will be a very healthy place for you to hangout to learn and also pass down the knowledge you have to fellow enthusiast of the cryptocurency industry.

We have varieties of things you can not do via Bitcointalk community, i think having the mindset that trigger or leads to scam is against the community objective, and also not to be sincere to the community entirely, i think forum forbid all these from my perspective. Other things a forum user should not do is already stipulates in the rules and regulations of the forum which i believe many  or one or two users has input or drop the link to this thread, were you can read up about the forum. its obvious that learning from the rules and from other members is of one the major concern of newbie who is ready to learn.

Besides following the forum rules, you should not support and promote scam projects I have seen people here promoting verified and notorious scam projects, defending and promoting them because of the payment they are receiving, I would also like to add, do not provide false and misleading information, this forum is an information hub, keep it clean by posting only what is true and legit.

I think as a newbie that's one of the first thing you should know, but I think it's already on the pin post but incase you don't notice that I will definitely put you true some things but I will still recommend you to check the pin post again for more details.
Firstly I believe in this forum you should always post meaningful things in the forum things that will benefit the forum and the forum users and their is always reward for quality post and there is always punishment for unnecessary posts so you have to be careful.
You have to be very careful of what you are posting on the forum make sure you don't plagiarize, if you are getting your information from a place make sure you quote the post and put your source link where you get the post from.
I believe their are still many thinkings you should know just try and check the pin post thanks.

Very importantly apart from the obvious answers to your questions, i believe you should not be a faker on this forum. Always remember that someone can benefit/learn from your unique opinions, so no pressure, just be real.

OP if you like sharing content links, my recommendation is add thoughts to it and insert something interesting with it and of course site your source always. Also if someone response with your post, engage with him to raise up a cool discussion about it. Thats all. Outta here.

It goes without saying that I totally agree with this opinion.

@BandetBulut, I suggest that you participate in discussions on topics that interest you, rather than merely posting clippings from articles and links to news sites. This is a discussion board. What good would it do if there were no discussion?

Welcome to the forum. The above users have highlighted things that you must look out for and things to avoid in other to get peace with every other members but I would like to cheap in few things.
  • Don't feed the trolls, they don't worth your attention.
  • Make little contributions you can any way that can help the forum, it does not really has to be about bitcoin, scams and frauds.
  • Learn to make a constructive criticism, you mustn't Rey everyone who annoy you.
  • Avoid cheating others, it will cost your reputation when you engage in any and other members may like avoid doing anything with you.

Did you report their threads or warn them about doing that?
Posting unsubstantial posts counts as spamming and is against the rules.
Like I said, whats to be report on a post with link discussing something interesting and has substanstial information? Thats why I said depends on user and also on the readers. But having links post isnt that spamming if you had some thoughts added about it. Anyway if its spammed message to you then feel free to report right.

And I'm not even being judgemental, simply gave the user a heads up
Yeah nice heads up to a newbie simply asking question.

Offences would include what you're doing

It is pretty simple, do not break the forum rules and do not abuse the forum. That's what we expect from forum members either newbie or old. A few threads have been attached above, you should learn from there in detail what should you do or what you shouldn't. More importantly, use the forum search button when you need to know something. Ask the community when you failed to find appropriate answers from the search. Avoid spamming and plagiarism will not just help the forum, it will help you as well to prevent ban your account. So, contribute to the forum.

So you arent sure.
I'm pretty sure of what I'm talking about, I said it's subjective to decide what counts as notable press hits and what doesn't. I already pointed out that the user posted one of the article shilling on some other board other than press.

Ive see some accounts who posted like that and take note they are high ranking members. They also sharing links with some paragraphs on their post and simply they dont get viewed as spammers. Well its kinda depend on the user I guess.
Did you report their threads or warn them about doing that?
Posting unsubstantial posts counts as spamming and is against the rules.

Well maybe thats how they wanted to post here? Not human like but not illegal I guess.

Lets just say tomorrow I decided to post article links with such discussion on different boards. So Ive become spammer after that right?

Judgemental is more unethical I guess.
• This forum is meant to share ideas, simply posting snippets of articles with a link to it below counts as spamming, and as I've said is against the forum rules. And doesn't contribute to discussions.
• If you started posting copy lasted articles with links, yes it counts as spamming.

And I'm not even being judgemental, simply gave the user a heads up

Never participate on a discussion that you don't really know!!

Been there, done that just for the sake of post count, but that was long ago and I think I have learned it the hard way when other members quoted my reply and corrected me because it is obvious that I am just re-stating what other member have said from the previous replies who appears to be innacurate LOL.

And yeah don't commit a serious ethical offense called Plagiarism because that's a self-explanatory for anyone who is participating on every forum or on the internet in general.

What are the things not to do on the Bitcointalk forum?

What is a serious offense and what is a minor offense?
Looking at your posting history so far, I have one suggestion; start formatting copied text properly. It's not an offense as you included reference link, but its a bad posting style nevertheless.

On top of that, 4/5 posts written by you are topics in which you didn't add a single word by yourself, it was all copy/paste. Topics like that, in which you don't add your personal opinion on the matter are usually seen as low value, and might be reported&deleted by forum staff. I don't know if its just laziness or just merit fishing attempts, but that approach won't bring you far on this forum.

Whatever is my subjective view, simply dedicating an account for posting links to articles, which is sometimes paid for us unethical and just spams the forum.

It would look like a spam but he posted it on good appropriate section, include sources. (if not copy paste paragraph) then all good. How is that become your judgement right away.
One of those threads was made in the altcoins board which is a wrong board to simply post links to articles with a snippet. The press board were the other threads were made is more appropriate, but should only contain 'notable press hits', which some of them do not qualify as (although this is subjective).

Offences would include what you're doing, spamming the forum with threads and links to a website. So far you have created 5 posts on the forum, all of them threads, and all besides this one containing links to a news article. That's a minor offence.
Let me clarify adding a link like cointelegraph article plus series of paragraph is bannable? Unless his sentence was copy paste maybe it is. But if there is none and including a link or source is there. Why could it be an offense? Due to a certain pattern like a bot one? Just asking.

It would look like a spam but he posted it on good appropriate section, include sources. (if not copy paste paragraph) then all good. How is that become your judgement right away.

Should we guide newbies properly instead telling them directly that what their doing is clearly spamming. Thats why he is asking.

BandetBulut, welcome to the forum!
You have already received the answer to your main question but I would like to add something else.
Be kind to other members, don't spam and engage in discussions about topics you don't know enough about.
Don’t write posts just because of the opportunity to make money in some signature campaigns.
If you don't know something, first look for the answer and read the rules of the forum, and only if you don't find the answer, open the topic and ask question.
Many forum members here are tired of answering always the same questions, which are constantly repeated.

I would like to add one more thing that every member here should try to help others. Here many new comers ask questions and its old members responsibility to guide them the correct path. This forum is decade old and the only reason why its getting more and more popularity is because the support you get here and quality contents posted here.
Don't buy and sell merits and accounts, as its completely unethical.

There are unofficial rules that someone linked up above they are made by a staff member who has listed all the reasons that you might get in trouble with the staff but they are not graded by severity but if you use your common sense and be polite you will not get in trouble.

1 time serious offences would be plagiarism and spreading malware but because most people do not do this not many people are banned for serious offenses. Minor offences can change to major ones by repeating them but this is simple to avoid because if you have posts deleted then you have a message in your inbox quoting it and then you can look at it and try to figure out why it was deleted and avoid that mistake in the future.
