Ah! Thanks for the explanation!

But then, something else has been done, because all the new ones I've seen, show the links with the default blue; even if they had the color=black like a couple of days ago. It's impossible to miss them now

Update: For what I've been seeing today, I believe that the color atribute has been disabled in the patrol page... anyone else seeing this?

Does this make "hidden" links show the normal url colour even if they use the color BBcode? I've found a handful of these a few minutes ago, but weren't as hidden as they were before (the link colour mostly, but I dind't have time to check by quoting...). So either that has happened, or they are becoming extremely lazy

No it doesn't affect the display or styling of the link at all, it just adds rel="ugc" as a CSS property of the link. i.e. what used to be this:

Code:

is now this:

Not sure what they're trying to do. In case it is some SEO-motivated thing, I added rel="ugc" to all newbie links. While I was at it, I also added this to all links in signatures.

Thanks to everyone reporting them!
While reporting posts (specifically in this topic), I noticed one account with interesting link, maybe it is somehow related to this spam lately:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/haseebahmad1-2565621

It's just a wild guess.

Seems spammers are adding source to look like they used someone's words, but website itself has nothing related to text above that link.

I have found a few same users who have been posting with suspicious links (most likely with malware). I have reported to moderators and good to see that moderators handled all of them. They have been creating new threads or bumping the very old thread with such suspicious links. It's pretty clear that they are trying to promote something or trying to spread malware. I think a group of scammer/hackers doing that. I think report to moderators would reduce risk since moderators are quite active to handle these.

An idea came to my mind, I know it has been proposed before, but want to repeat it. How if the forum does not allow newbies to post with links before achieved 28 activities unless they buy copper membership. I don't think they will dare to buy bulk copper membership to promote their site here. I think we can prevent newbies attack this way. Let them spend at least 4 weeks before they eligible to post with links. Just allow them to make a normal post without clickable links.

They are getting smarter and write on topic replies (facebook and twitter links are hidden):
Next level is probably spamming the hell out of bounty board with social media networks...irony.
Found similar replies on some thread recently instead of a thread post with lots of hidden links covered in a white color font lol.

This is likely just an attempt to get the website indexed by web crawlers. It's not pretty, but it could be somewhat effective (not too sure about this though). They could be approaching on different fronts; This is just a back link service, the content is not really that important at this stage as it's expected to not be from the original site, so you can hardly fault the owner for the quality. The reputation and relevance of the website the backlinks are being posted is more important.
no it is not. you did not understand what I said. I was talking about contents of their website. not the content of the posts they are making here. if their website has no content then making backlinks in other dofollow websites like bitcointalk make no sense.
these backlinks do not index at all. they give zero link juice to the website they are linked to.

these spammers are up to something else.

Edit: this is the website these links redirected me to https://mundofiestapiura.com/Mbasketball/
It's also possible they are attempting something more malicious. Haven't looked closely at the links as yet.

that is what I am thinking too. this all thing is not for SEO but for something else.

If these guys really do it for seo then they do it wrongly, google easily detect spam links like what they usually do in every post they mad especially links from a forum.

Just don't get tired to report them, mods are faster to work with them though.

I had always thought that the point was to get the forum blacklisted/striked when doing this, not that they were trying to improve their own sites' SEO... AFAIK google does come really hard on people posting a lot of links that don't make sense, which is exactly what is happening here....

that is exactly what I thought. because what they are doing. they get nothing from that. that doesn't improve their website's SEO ranking. or increase their Dofollow backlinks. but instead these links can led google to blacklist Bitcointalk from it's indexes.

I got backlinks for my website from this forum. I know how SEO is done. to generate a backlink they would not post a long malicious code in their posts. it is not necessary at all.

I am reasonably sure that the accounts that are doing this are controlled by a single person whose manually each post one at a time. Because humans are slow the posts are spaced around 1 minute apart while he waits for the newbie posting cooldown to lapse. He probably has all the threads he wants to spam open in tabs too. This reinforces the belief that this is paid SEO backlinking by some dude from a black hat forum and not some automated bot that someone made that somehow found this place.

I reported all these posts a few seconds after they were made using Recent Posts. More are still coming as I type this and I continue reporting them. Even saw two fake malware announcement links during that mess.

It'll end eventually.

I've been reporting some of these posts, but sometimes they're nuked before I can even hit the report button.  The community is doing a hell of a job fighting these morons.

I am reporting them as I find them, but it's getting tiresome; from new topics to bumping topics new and old, they're polluting everything, although temporarily.

There's nothing known that links these posting bots, so the IPs or something like that could be blacklisted?
Or maybe based on the domains linked from inside the posts?
Or maybe if a post contains more than 2 links and it's made by a brand new or newbie, the links are automatically transformed into something that's not a valid link anymore?!

I don't think they are doing this for SEO.
the first rule of SEO is quality content.  creating backlinks and other SEO factors comes after that. and those links have no contents. Anyone who know the Basics of SEO and know the importance of Backlinks. he'll know the importance of content too as well as the consequences of creating low quality spam links.

I don't think an SEO manager would do that. it's a total loss for him.

these spammers are up to something else.

There may be some fake SEO managers who thinks that by linking to this forum, they could get backlinks. I would suggest anyone not to click on the links to which they redirects because it may not be safe if their intention is more evil like spreading malwares etc.

I did.
but they never end.
It'll end eventually.  You've been on the forum long enough to know that it gets attacked by spammers like this from time to time, and the motivation is almost invariably the same:  quick promotion of something on a site that allows posts and has high traffic.  That's why bitcointalk is targeted so often, I think.

Users who buy this service could be dropping content on their original website and socials, this backlink service is probably just an attempt to rank higher on search engines by spamming, some would catch the spamming and some wouldn't.

Pssst.. Don't tell them!

On the underground forum c00lh4x0rz.io there was a SEO thread posted by "SE0MaztER2005" who sold this method for a very cheap price.
He has years of experience in SEO. This method works 100%. With 100% money back guarantee.

Maybe this file.pdf.exe got leaked now and therefore more people know about this super secret and super efficient method.

Yeah it's being used for seoing. They get deleted pretty fast anyway. Hopefully they're deleted before a crawler reaches them.
