when their leaders are dead subordinates will take over. But for sure they will loss morale and blame each other, that will be an advantage in the military. President Duterte will keep on supporting the military to eliminate these pests of the country, there's no place for them on the planet.

That will not work for terrorists. It just happen on a movie that you watch, most terrorists are happy serving their purposes, so when they die, they've rather be thankful that their job is done and die in the time where they are serving their purposes.

The ultimate aim of these terrorists is to achieve martyrdom and 72 virgins in heaven. But at the same time, I have no doubt that their deaths will improve the morale of the army. And also, death of the experienced terrorist can go a long way in winning the battle against them.

Someone would take place and be the leader that they need to have and see what could happen in the next time that you encounter those forces. The Maute group would probably really taken a hit hard because they have lost someone valuable. The fight ha been so long that it's over a month now, hoping that it would be resolved.

What is your opinion about Omar Maute, is he really dead? The news said that there is a strong indication that he died in the warzone. What do you guys think will happen to the group of terrorist?, surely they will lose their morale, but do you think they will continue attacking the city of the philippines in marawi?

I think that even if their leader is dead it might damepen their morale but it doesnt really nmean that they would stopp doing their acts of terror. Even if a leader is dead, surely one will take its place and they would continue as long as their beliefs and new people support them. What I believe is that terrorism only works when people are scared and panicky and right now we are just that.

Apparently he's not dead yet, that's what they are saying now. These rebels will not lay down their arms though. They are using the lake to escape and bring their supplies with them (coast guard intercepted one boat). Or they'll try to dump their arms and mix with the civilians. A good terrorist is a dead terrorist.

If they mix with the general population, then it will further complicate the things. It can be detrimental in two ways. First, they will have a negative effect on the civilians, by engaging in brainwashing and radicalization. And secondly, the forces will be forced to retaliate if they take cover behind the civilians. This will result in collateral casualties.

I'd prefer that the government keep mum on any information they have. It's hard to confirm reports during conflicts like this. You can have a press conference saying the guy is dead and the next thing you know, he's bombing some place. That would cause the army and the government in general to loose face and might even embolden other groups.

I think the Philippine government is not confirming nor denying if he is still alive or what. They are all verifying intelligence before actually giving it to the public. Maute is also using social media to create a lot of hype that people in Marawi is with them. But the government is saying otherwise. But I gonna used my judgement here, it looks like they are really loosing ground in Marawi and are escaping through backdoor channels. Let us give the government enough time to really clear the city and liberate them from ISIS.

And I may add, you may want to read about "Rido" thingy.

I know about that stupid rido culture that is also found in many Islamic countries. A really backward practice that is setting back the region and tainting the whole country's reputation.

If they have sufficient evidence to prove that this guy is dead, then there is nothing wrong in announcing it. It will boost the morale of the troops currently embedded in Marawi and at the same time, will encourage the rebels to lay down their weapons and surrender.

No one is sure if he is already dead on left the battle field. Some news says he is dead, while other says that he already escaped. We are not certain until he is captured alive or retrieve his dead body. The war is still raging as we speak, but the government forces had already took back some hiding places of the Maute and only a few stronghold have left. I just saw in the news that they arrested people link to Maute leaving the place and even have millions of pesos in their possession. Bu I don't think him being dead really matters, because we all know that there will be another one who's gonna replaced him in the future.

If the leaders could be assassinated, then it is possible that the militants may either surrender or express their willingness for talks. It is up to the Philippine government to decide what they want to do next. The conflict has already claimed more than 300 lives. If they offer amnesty for the militants, then anymore deaths could be prevented.

Maybe yes or no. The zone where Omar Maute died was still handed by the terrorist (or being surrounded) so no Armed Forces there yet to check the site. What will happen to them? Surely they will regroup. No way they can just go easily to the capital to go back to normal life.

And yes they will still continue to attack Marami or any part of Mindanao region especially they are now being recognized by ISIS and as long as POLITICIAN will funded them.

The problem with these Islamist extremist groups is that they are not overly dependent on one individual. If one of the leaders gets killed, then he will be quickly replaced by someone else. Look at the ISIS in Syria/Iraq. Despite losing their important leaders such as Omar al Shishani, they are refusing to give away any of their territory to the SAA/SDF.

It is easy to broadcast the death of a Terrorists Leader. This is one of their tactics to lay lo and for the Military to be comfortable in the situation wherein at some point they can attack them behind. This fake death is not new in a war. If he's really dead, Then we need a hard evidence to prove the Government's claim. Even though the Mother of Omar itself states the death of his son, It is just verbal statement without supporting evidence. To validate as per the mother, "Omar's body is already buried". Military must recover it and make necessary tests to confirm it. As long as there are no hard evidence in regards his death, I still believe that Omar Maute is still alive and still making all the calls for the maute group.

The US military has killed the leader of ISIS so many times and he is still alive, the best option to validate these rumors is to bring the body of the deceased , that's why I always say that Bin Laden is not dead but being kept in a CIA blacksite.

Yes I do believe that Omar Maute is dead. According to his mother, he came back for her sons to bury them in the Muslim way of burying a dead. His mother risk on still going just to bury them in spite of the fact that she actually is among the wanted individual who is being hunted by the national authorities, infact she is one of the primary target because she is the mother.

So many times they said so and so is dead only for said dead man to show up during a terror attack. I'd rather have them not speculate on such stuff. If it's possible for them to cut off communication in the area, I'd rather have them spread rumors that suspected dead leaders are still alive. If the split gangs can't contact each other, that might hinder them from regrouping immediately.

There were reports previously also that the abu sayaff leader is also dead yet just recently, a video of him along with the maute brothers were recovered planning the attack on marawi. If there are no proof yet or a body shown, i don't think it should be taken seriously. These twisted sick  bastards are hard to kill so i'm not gonna count on unverified information just yet

I'd only believe he's dead if they show us the body or if they have a DNA result from some samples of ground meat that was left after the airstrikes. If true, then rest in pieces.  Grin

If you already saw the names of the dead terrorists, you'd know that they have foreign fighters with them, coming from countries like Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Indonesia and Russia (Chechnya). With ISIS losing ground in Iraq, it's not impossible that these would be coming to the Philippines instead. After all, they're fighting against infidels here.

The dream of establishing an Islamic caliphate in Southeast Asia actually predated the rise of ISIS so it's likely former ISIS fighters might focus their attention to this region instead. After all, fighters from this region fought in Iraq, they can just come home and try the same thing here.
