Ofcourse for me, bitcoin and ethereum coin are my top coin of all times but speaking of top 5, i will just add more 3 coins to go, third for me is ripple xrp coin. The fourth for me is the monero coin xmr, and the fifth coin for my toplist is litecoin.
My top 5 are: BTC, ETH, EOS, XRP, DNF. And also I found a good coin named Historia, without ICO and any funding, but a IEO (Initial Exchange Offering) and you can check more here:

I have one experience, which is the coin that made me profitable at the time, BABB. But for all time coins can be seen in bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin XRP, for EOS still awaiting better developments. We will continue to monitor the coins and hope to provide benefits as I have.
I got the most profit not from a top coin like Bitcoin or Ethereum, but I got it from a small coin like NANO, IOTA, BAT, and ADA. I don't say that big coin such as Ethereum, Bitcoin, Ripple, or Litecoin is not profitable but those coin gives profit not as much as small coin like I mentioned above.
i am still remember my coins that give biggest profit last year was storm.after this coins listed in market and bounty distributed, i am speculate to buy this tokens in cheap price.and my decision was true, after several days storm rise to all time high and could much money from them.and now i am trying to pick coins or tokens in market that could give me profit like strom did.

That's not even only top 5 but all of major coins should be my top coins consider they are all can grow from nothing to something and then it will ne so easy to determine which is the coin that brings the best profit all the times and that's bitcoin. 
Time to time my top five coins are chang because of their performance. But Bitcoin and Ethereum is my top two coins favorite all time. The third position I gave to EOS because recently EOS blockchain developed so much and many new projects launch on EOS blockchain. On Fourth position is XRP , I always worried about the total supply of XRP because it's just huge supply but the development of XRP makes this coin in my 4th list. And the fifth position is LTC. So my top 5 coin in the current years is..

My first crypto is ETH so I would say it is my 1st love in cryptoworld and top of my list, ETN - the reason why I was able to build my dreamhouse, INS - high potential for a long term hodl because of its good project. BCHABC and BCHSV because of their pump and dump that gave me a lot of profit last year.

I'd say Ethereum, Bitcoin, Dropil, SmartCash and Dash. ETH is my pick for a platform. DROP gives me passive income. SmartCash and Dash are promising payment systems... and Bitcoin is just Bitcoin.
BTC because it's the king. It's also the only coin that I trust in full and tha one I'm sure will succeed.
ETH because it still has features that BTC doesn't and as long as there are no BTC smart contracts it will be popular.
ADA I like the project and the people behind it. It can really do well in future.
DOGE because of how it became popular. A stupid meme coin is still alive even when the meme is no longer popular. It's a miracle.
XMR because it was the first privacy coin I got to know and because we need coins that are anonymous just like we need coins that aren't.
ETH because it still has features that BTC doesn't and as long as there are no BTC smart contracts it will be popular.

Many coins have the opportunity to generate profits, but for the long term I think I believe in EOS, XRP, DGB, NPXS, TRF,
based on the profit that I have earned, the first is Ethereum, Ripple, Stellar, Bitcoin and waves. I don't count based on their value in the market, but based on the profit I have earned from the coin.
