Why do people are searching for benefits everywhere? How you benefit when you click like on Facebook post or Youtube video? Are you also searching for benefits when you are donating to charity?
By giving sMerits you are motivating users to continue making quality posts. More good quality posts = more content which are worth to read, this is what mostly of us want to see.
Finally, there are no reasons to hold your sMerits. What if everyone would have same attitude to not send their sMerits? Nobody will be able to rank up then

I agree.  If you want to consider it a benefit, by giving sMerit to deserving posters, you are doing your part to encourage quality posts.  If everyone uses the sMerit system properly, the good posters will rise up and the poor quality posts will diminish, which saves everyone time and makes for a better board.

Nothing.
But if you would think about it, it's like you have said that " why read about others comments and opinions in a thread that you have your own answer already ? "

Giving merit is like giving credits to those who have given you new information and somehow gave you another clarification about something.
You benifited from their answer and giving merit is a way of giving credits ? Why would you ask for more that ? Knowledge is more than enough especially in forums like this.

Also, giving merits makes a valuable contribution in the forum. Making it visible that everyone can actually help in gaining information.

Here is a key thing that I think that some people are misunderstanding about how Merit/sMerit works:

When you give sMerit, you do not lose any of your Merit.  Keeping sMerit does not increase your Merit balance and sending it does not decrease your Merit balance.

I have seen more than a few instances of people giving each other sMerit for good posts on a thread.  Probably, some of these were mutual sMeriting.  As in, "I'll send XXX a sMerit because they had a good post", followed by XXX, "I'll send YYY back a sMerit to thank them for sending me one".  So if you think about it in that way, you could potentially benefit from rewarding someone for a good post because they might thank you by returning the favor.

I see that there's been lots of complaints about the merit system but it's really a new change and I think it takes time to see how it works in practice for longer than just the initial deployment/adjustment period.

thank you for the response, this is a lesson for me. then I will continue to learn to make useful posts for many people in this forum. sorry if my post is not good  Cry

Your post is good. Is a question that deserves a fair answer because it is probably on the back of the minds of many people in the forum that feel the merit system is not fair for them. Everyone must let merit flow.

A completely different thing is to trade merit with alts. In you case it seems that is around 4 merit, which in my book is nothing BUT I am sure that the merit sources will eventually start compiling a list of the "un-meritable" and you have probably a place on it if you keep doing this.

I admit is a fair question. If done properly, you would contribute to create a forum that can help us all share and learn.

But let me ask you a equally fair question: What do you gain by keeping it?

Actually, you will get nothing aside for having the feeling of joy and fulfillment.

This only means that you are only able to help others to rank up and not experience the same way in return. But here's a good thing, you may have a chance to also get merits from the receiver of your sMerits because technically speaking that person owes gratitude from you. (this not happens all the time because the quality of your posts is the basis whether you deserve one or not)

If you are already benefiting from the community by participating in the bounties/campaigns you should help the community to develop.

Why there should be benefits for every single thing here? Inst it enough benefit to be able to ask question and get answer from the people who are actually chaining the world and writing history?

Because you care only for the "Moon","lambo" and nothing more...
It's a pity to have the chance to learn sooooo much here but wasting you time only for collecting shitcoins with a hoping to be millionaire in a few years.

So scorpion27 creates a thread about merit and someone called Boys27 gives him a merit. The identical numbers a coincidence?
Yeah, it's beyond fishy.  I've no doubt this is a case of one alt giving another alt some merit.  Blatant and ballsy, though it would've been more so had he given more than 1 point.

On a related note, there are very few members here I trust who have letters followed by numbers in their username.   Yahoo62278 is one notable exception, but there aren't that many.

There aren't any benefits to you if you send some merit to any other person. You just help other members who post high quality posts to rank up, that's all. And if you want to be one like them you should improve your posts quality by posting helpful and useful idea or information to get some merit points to be able to rank up.

Maybe this time I'm lucky?
Because since there is a merit regulation I never get it, and today I get a reward, it gives me the motivation to keep trying to make a good post to raise my account rank.

So you're saying that this is purely coincidental, and that you are not linked to any of those other accounts at all? Roll Eyes

If you want to earn merit, just show some passion in your posts. And I'm not talking about posting shit like "I love your idea; I think it's great!". I'm talking about genuinely showing the members of this forum that you actually love what you talk about. When I choose to merit posts, I look at a couple of factors, but mainly that the post is kind of a "benchmark", if you will, of the types of posts that I want to stand out.

And another sure way to get shit on is by creating a thread to ask questions about shit that's already been answered. A simple search could have saved you this embarrassment. Just sayin.

The pure joy of giving praise to someone else, a complete stranger, for their contribution to the forum. It's a wonderful gift to give someone and the merit system is the start of a new season on the forum...tis the season for giving!

By doing this, you give them motivation to try improving themselves for getting more merits; then contribute to make the forum better. Each user improve his/her ability and attitude, the forum will change better for sure. I have no doubts about the fact. After all, you as a member of the forum will have benefits too, such as easier to find high quality posts, get helps faster, etc.

I think the only benefit you can get in giving merit to others is the feeling of fulfillment and happiness because it is a great feeling when you help others without expecting anything in return. Giving merit to users with quality post can help them to rank up and for them be able to earn higher income.

It gives me the motivation to put you on ignore, so no merit from me ever, and your alt/friend
