Be patient. Never throw all of your money at one thing at the same time. Long-term thinking instead of short-term thinking is important, too. Don't assume a coin has some sort of magical limit below which it will not drop. Trust your gut when reading a WP. Does the product solve the presented problem? Does the problem exist? What general impression does the WP give you? Is it well-written or incoherent? What kind of people does the product's ANN/Reddit attract? Is it a bunch of fresh accounts droning about how this will change the world or is there a genuine debate going on? Just a couple of points to keep in mind.

I would suggest investing in ICOs for the new investors. ICOS prices have better chance of giving investors good earnings in a short period of time. Another option is to buy Ethereum which is one of the best altcoins out there.
Ethereum and Bitcoin are best investment but ICOs are risky investment we do not predict the future possibilities of crypto market so beginners are afraid in ICOs investment. I am always suggest to invest in Top ten cryptocurrencies because these are all potential coin so it will never drop in the future.

1. Forget about fiat money. Calculate your PnL in Bitcoin or Top10 index.
2. Buy only coins/tokens you understand and belive long-time and wait till it's get to the point you expect it to be.
3. If you still make a short-time oriented buys in tokens you know little about plan entry and exit points and don't use emotions.

I can recommend never to make emotional actions and HOLD and HODL. If you have invested, then set a goal as much as you want to earn and never sell at a price below it.

Blockchain Just Entered The Real World
Thumb rule of the game is not to invest more than one can afford to loose. If you are putting away your retirement money in crypto, you are doing it wrong. Although crypto is at infancy stage and has a lot of growth potential, we need to see how the markets will respond in case if various countries at one put a ban over it. Another thing is not to get emotionally attached to any one alt, keep on flipping and moving to newer projects. Lastly, invest in fundamentally strong projects for long periods of time, 1-5 years. For isntance, if anyone bought the tezos ico, i would not recommend them to sell it at least before end of 2020.

Do cost averaging on well stablish crypto coins like ETH, LTC or NEO and BTC and hold your coins for 1-2 years. Almost all newbies who invest here on crypto want to get rich quick and after they see that the market is falling they panic. If you're a long-term holder crypto crashes are just normal and you won't even get mad about it. Long story short buy and hold.

I agree with Daddyj2 on this for the most part.  Basically, since we're currently going sideways, the way forward is to remind yourselves that this is still the beginning for crypto.   Though he suggests to hold your coins for 1-2 years, I reckon it a wise move to consider a slightly further outlook on things, such as holding with a 5-10 yr plan in mind.   It takes years for new technologies to really make it to the mainstream and crypto is no different.   When the kinks are all worked out and it's easy for your parents to buy in / use easily, that's when we'll all be laughing.

Hello, this is my first thread as OP. I've been a member of this forum for 7 months now. I have observed/read in this forum that many investors(usualy new to crypto) have been worried about their investments in crypto-market these past few weeks because bitcoin and altcoins prices are getting lower and lower. Some lost 50-90% of their investment and ask in this forum if they have to sell or hodl.

NOw I just curious know on   what are you general suggestion/recommendation to those investors?

PS.
I've been investing and trading stocks for a few years before, now I shift to crypto. Thus this kind of downtrend had no effect on me. But Still I want know all your different answers.
 Thank you.
The technology will be eaten the traditional system, Look at the amazon how that was implementing market with AI. Traditional system will be slowly abandoned by so many people, companies or even the world. Because we are moving towards the future which every thing can be done so easily through machine learning. Just like crypto that will make automation to our fintech and economic system.
That's it my suggestion for those investors.

The most effective advice I got so far here from other investors as well is ONLY INVEST WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE. I think its a basic rule that if you are just a newbie or just a mid-risk taker, this one should be applicable to you. If you are someone who knows everything about the world then be my guest and go on invest everything you can since you know what you are doing. But for newbies or anyone who just joined crypto market for a hype and don't know what to do better only allow an amount that you think you can spend and lost in case the market is down. I see a lot of people ranting about their investments when they haven't converted it to fiat yet, for me that's a pessimistic attitude and shouldn't be in the crypto market at all.

I suggest you divide your money designed for crypto investment in 2 parts.

With 50% you enter the crypto market and you use the rest of the money to buy more every x% of the downfall (where you decide what is x -  minus 50%, 100%).

Always have prepared money (invested but not spent yet on crypto) for emergencies and situations you can't afford to miss.
