I met Amy of Hashfast at the Last bitcoin Sunnyvale Meeting and believe them to be legitimate. I am eagerly awaiting pics of the hardware boards and chips though!!!!!
It is not that they aren't real. It is that they are selling overpriced shovels to suckers. But if the prices were reduced, more people would just buy them anyway taking up the network even further.
They are both making lots of profit and those that buy their products are making loses instead.

Both will have very unhappy customers clamoring for refunds.
Both are selling SHA256 ASIC.
They are both making money from pre-orders
Both are selling first gen gear and have no other hardware out under their respective organizations 
HashFast has completed logical and physical design, paid their NRE, taped-out a very complex chip in record-breaking time (over a month ago), and expects their TMSC wafers to be done next week.
Cointerra might have done some of those things, but we don't know. In any case, Cointerra's chips won't be here for another two months, at best.

1. HashFast taped out over a month ago. The other guys missed their "first week of October" deadline, and may not have even paid the NRE for their chip yet.
2. HashFast's physical design partner, Uniquify, has dozens of 28 nm designs under its belt. The other guy's? Not so much.
3. HashFast's physical design partner, Uniquify, sent out a press release annoucing their partnership with us. The other guy's? Not so much.

Both are working on a 28nm chip. The chips do the same task.Almost identical specs are to be expected under those circumstances.

That's right. For a densely packed chip at high frequencies that's the best you can do.It's probably not the best choice for consumer hardware, where the last bit of performance isn't really necessary, but when it comes to mining, where 10% or 20% better performance really make a difference, that's a wise choice.

I saw many people on this forum that actualy show a great level of confidence regarding both Cointerra and HashFast.
My intention wasn't to mock any ASIC producers .
My intention was to gather as much data we can to help the community.
When people put the money and the hopes on the game at least they deserve to know the rules of the game.

I don't think anyone here was dumb enough to think that those companies were legit.
