Why care about an activity rating, a forum is for discussion, not a score competition. Just be active and your activity will grow. Be patient and please just post for contribution to the forum, not for your activity score.
Because they don't understand the way the scoring system works, newbies spam in hopes of getting their rating up and/or they've joined some newbie signature campaign and think they can earn a fortune by blasting the boards.

What the system really boils down to is this: at some point your post count MUST be equal to or greater than your time score to earn the highest possible forum rank.

Examples:

User 1 posts 1 post every 2 weeks.  He joined 2 years ago.  He has a potential activity score of 728.  His actual score is 52.
User 2 posts 14 posts every 2 weeks.  He joined 2 years ago.  He has a potential activity score of 728.  His actual score is also 728.
User 3 posts 100 posts every 2 weeks.  He joined 2 years ago.  He has a potential activity score of 728.  His actual score is also 728.
User 4 makes 1 post today.  He joined 2 years ago.  He has a potential activity score of 14.  His actual score is 1.
So what this means is If someone makes even 1 meaningful post per day he's gonna become a hero in 2 years irrespective of all  the useless posts that he's made over the course of that time Or he might get banned because of those useless posts that he's been making for the past two years... Cheesy
So far the best post that helped me understand the essentials of activity and posts...
Thanks johnnybravo0311 sir

it seems that there are some confusion here, so to recap all this

can you gain your 14 every two weeks with just 1 post in those two weeks? because this mean that i can only post 2 times and having 28 before the next period of the activity start, seems cheap to me

Making 1 post will only earn you 1 activity unless your post count is 13 more than activity points.

is this a new rule, i didn't know that, and it sounds a bit random for a rule

There are several concepts here.

#1 time
#2 activity
#3 potential activity
#4 number of posts.

The number of posts and the time value limit your activity. The formula for activity is min(posts, time) and you get 14 time points with every post in an activity period (every 14 days). Thats why some accounts have what is called a potential activity. They have a time value that is higher than their activity, but limited by the number of posts they made. E.g. because they only made a single post every 14 days for 35 14-day-periods in a row. As hilarious pointed out that account would be able to reach Hero Status very quickly because for this account the activity is not capped by time, but by the number of posts. They have 35 activity because they only have 35 posts, not because they have a low time value. Most accounts are limited by their time value, not by their number of posts. Thus most have a post counter high than their activity count.

this is a good explanation, i wasn't aware that there were two limiting factors, this could also explain why there are many newbies spamming instead of just posting once every two weeks

It's not a new rule, just most people aren't aware of how the activity system works because most people make more than 14 posts every fortnight (and not to mention it is a confusing system). You can only gain the full activity with one post if you have more posts than activity. If a user has 200 posts and only 56 activity he only needs to make one post to gain the full 14 points to take him up to 70 activity.

You might look at equation again for this.  The way I always read it was you need to have 14 posts for the 14 activity per period. As far as only 1 post equaling 14 activity.  I'm 95 percent sure that's untrue and do need 14.

You would need to join make 14 posts, and get activity before the 12th.  And you would have to get another 14 posts per period before the 26th to get it's activity.  And this is a endless cycle.

I will say I'm unsure what happens if you get 1 post in the period ending on 12th and then get 27 more the period ends on the 26th.  Does that one post get you access to activity for the period ending on the 12th?  Do you get partial activity? Or what I would like to know this is someone knows.

You only need one post in each period to be able to collect the full activity at a later date. You could make one post in 35 activity periods and that would give you 35 activity but if you then made 455 posts in whatever time frame you would then go from being a Jnr Member to becoming a Hero as soon as you had a minimum of 480 posts so you could rank up in one day if you were able to make that many constructive posts.

hilariousandco thank you very much for taking the time to explain it to me!  Very interesting fact about activity.

I wondered if there would be something that helped account on activity for just 1 post turns out there is.   So I guess Amph did have something right about 1 post getting activity possibly down road, I did not know this.  But the 1 post getting 14 activity will not happen still have to have the posts down the road at some point.

Make 95% to 100% if post count is equal to activity points.

Right.

Won't happen. You can only get a maximum of 14 activity points per 14 days period.

Does that one post get you access to activity for the period ending on the 12th?  Do you get partial activity? Or what I would like to know this is someone knows.

What day of the week does the new activity period start?  Does anyone know?  I know it happens every 14 days but I am not quite sure which day.

Tomorrow, in fact every tuesday.

here -> https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/til-activity-does-not-work-on-precisely-2-week-intervals-interval-timings-582736 is a list.

so if i join the forum let's say sunday, i only need to wait two day to have a boost in my activity, or i'm missing something?

Yes. You could post early Tuesday morning before the new activity period starts then again after it on the same day and you will then be able to get 28 points.

You would need to make 14 posts to get it.  But if you made 14 posts at end of this period and 14 posts at beginning of next.  Yes you could jump up 28 activity in 28 posts.

But this would mean you have not posted during this period and already gotten activity from 14 posts.

no you would need only two posts, that was my question about

one for example could join on monday and post 1 post, then on wednesday he could post again 1 another post, and raise his activity to 28 in two days only, or even less if you do it all in tuesday

You mean making two posts in two periods to earn 28 activity points? It is not possible unless your post count is higher than activity by 26. But if your post count is equal to activity points, you will have to make 14 posts on Monday before new activity period starts and another 14 posts on Wednesday after new activity period starts to get 28 activity points.

Many users here always said if we have a lot posts (which over activity), we can increase our activity in two weeks period just with single post.

My question is if that single post deleted by mods, is it take effect against my activity in the future?
I mean will it lowering my activity by 14?

If all posts in 14 days period are deleted, you will loose that points.
