Good time to pick some up cheap.

I hate it when people say this. I mean, I hope its true. But you don't know for sure that it is.
I know, I felt dirty saying it too.

It belongs in the "lies bagholders tell themselves" thread.

Though I believe this one to be true  Cheesy

Hey thats OK. We all have to believe in something. Except for the Nihilists.

They believe in nothing, which is kinda still something

This is going to a level I would not have expected when looking at a thread here!

Could you possibly find the time to hunt out your nxt.log file and send it over ?
You can give it to this brave messenger, and we'd very much appreciate you not sending him back using a catapult this time.......oh most merciful ruler of the plains...etc...etc
 Grin

Yes I would actually be grateful if you took a look at it. I know the word "Evil" is in your name but I trust the log doesn't have private information in it. I'll send you a PM when I get a chance to tomfool around.

There are truths to my words whether you want to accept them or not. Sure, it could just be me. But then why is the price of NXT sinking like a flaming ball of fat out of a trebuchet upon heathens clustered in a castle?

one of the last original investors is cashing out in a violent way.  They have about 7.5 million NXT left to dump (3.5MM in assets and 4MM in NXT).

Good time to pick some up cheap.

NXT has really good privacy protection services, it will be a definitely choice for a 2.0 crypto.

Thats why we also have NXT version of our asset, I personally see big things for NXT's future.

**shouting over improvised barricade**

We're terribly sorry, your royal khaniness, it bloody well should work.....i've got NEM and Nxt running happily on the same machine. Arse.....
Begging your pardon, oh great slaughterery dude of the steppes.

Besides, if NXT weren't fuct, why the price plummet? Don't tell me "because Ethereum." Its you guys. You keep fucking with the client. Its now faaaar too complex for even the most thick-rimmed goggled nerds to use.

I hate to say it and I probably shouldn't but you're making the Monero wallet look good.

But my NXT just never adds any new blocks. I don't get it. It says I'm connected to peers, the "run" program is whirring away but nothing ever actually happens.

One of my computers took about 2 days to fully sync, but it doesn't constantly update in the Status window.  I actually went online to ask around and see if the NXT blockchain was stalled, but then I looked again and it had finally changed.

You have to leave it alone for a couple of hours, then come back and see that the date has changed from "Wed Jan 8 15:50:42 EDT 2014" to "Mon Mar 10 20:13:05 2014".  That's how you know it's making progress.

Maybe yours really was working, but it just didn't look like it.

Nope, haven't added a block since June 19th in spite of running NXT for at least dozens of hours since.

Besides, you can just use a name and password at wallet.mynxt.info without having to download or sync anything, or use a similar online signup at trade.secureae.com

Yes but then you have to rely upon a centralized entity. The fact that NXT and NEM have their own downloadable clients is what sets them apart from what I see as their biggest competitor, Counterparty.

nutildah, did you ever get it working?  I didn't have any problems with NXT, but I gave up on NEM because it always says there is no Java installed no matter what I do or which computer I try it on.

No, I didn't. I uninstalled and re-installed both the latest NXT client and Java 8 64x with no success.

I can get NEM to open but you have to open some Java programs (NRS and NIS) to get the wallet working, ala NXT.

NXT is fuct. The price says so. You guys should try harder to get your shit together.

No problem, not worried at all, mate, stay as long as you like......I'll just carry on with digging this nice new 'canal' system I've suddenly decided to install around my house....... Grin

Ha! Canals ain't nothin. We just fill them up with the corpses of our enemies. Giant walls on the other hand... that's a different story.

Well, we are getting better slowly.Take a look at this proposal :
https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/%28marketing-business-and-development%29-the-tennessee-project-fundraiser/
Part of the Tennessee initiative will be an emphasis on lite/web wallets.

Anyway, back to the supporting.
There is now a Windows installer for Nxt:
https://nxtforum.org/nrs-releases/nrs-v1-5-15/
You need:
h***://bitbucket.org/JeanLucPicard/nxt/downloads/nxt-client-1.5.15.exe
This will run a Java check, and automates most of the install process. If you haven't tried it already, give it a shot now.

Win 8 64-bit and Java 8 is a very common configuration....it should work.

Forgot the Java link : a remove and re-install can sometimes help:
https://www.java.com/en/download/

OK thanks Dave, I do appreciate the response. I will keep my NEM machine separate from my NXT machine -- the differing versions of Java they require render them incompatible for the moment.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Java several times already. But I will try your advice and install the nrs release you are recommending.

I was about to bring my hoarde of horseback archers over to your place but then I saw this post and now we're just camping in the fields outside your house. We're nomads so we'll probably move on shortly, no need for alarm.

Will the Nxt Free market ever be accessible to average joes like myself. It's a real pain to get it up and running

I agree it's a pain but it's still in development, at this stage there's probably no much reason to use it but for testing purpose. It will take more time but at the end it's going to be integrated into the SuperNet project and it will have arbitration, escrow, full privacy, feedbacks and prices in fiat money. Probably by next year, after SN has launched. I have a good chunk of Freemarket assets and I believe it will give OB a run for its money...

Ehhh....there is, somewhere, a FreeMarket lite version...here:
https://freemarketlite.cc/
and some more FreeMarket info round here:
https://nxtforum.org/freemarket/

The answer is, yes, I hope so.
FreeMarket isn't Nxt core, it's an external project, so my knowledge of FM doesn't go much further than that.
