Smart choice in trading out BTCBTC for other investments WHEN bitcoin was hitting it's highs..

I was transferring out into bullion. Gold, silver, and platinum last year. Turned out to be a great choice as it kept value.
Now that cryptos have collapsed, I am able to sell my metals instead of cryptos and even rebuy BTC at lower pricing Grin

Hopefully this is a rinse and repeat type deal. Next time cryptos moon, I will be doing the same.

I have used 90% of profit in buying a house, with the remaining 10% of capital I used to buy several altcoins as plan B, I am a lucky person in 2017 and I believe good luck will come back this year

I have primarily bought lots and lots of computers and not much else. This means that if it all goes to shit at least I can make a living as a multi angle cam girl. My fans will be able to direct their own burger shots.

Though I have absolutely no interest in it as any type of investment I did ponder getting some gold just to look at. I think I would wind up resenting it though.

I also bought some computers that will help me in my study where I take the course of information and technologies. If the price of bitcoin will rise up again I will use the profit to but some cameras because I want to capture a picture and I want to make some video and I will post it in youtube. But right now I still hold my bitcoin and waiting for the rising price.

As their is no bitcoin shop in our country so their was only option left is to convert to fiat and i almost sold my 80% of savings in 3rd quarter of 2017 and bought a land. Today i am feeling it was right decision as both side i am in profit, one i sold in high price and second the land i purchased it is giving me 50% profit right now.
absolutely right and I also like that by using bitcoin to buy hold but the bitcoin that I use is exchanged to the rupiah first because in my country it prohibits using crypto currency for transactions. so buying land can be my future investment

I have no plan B as an investment. I'm pretty much dedicated to holding and I'm not planning to sell until I find something more worthy. I have some cash at home (not in the bank) and I have some antique silver. That's basically it. I thought about buying something else but when I did the math nothing looked as good as cryptocurrencies. I don't need a new house or a piece of land somewhere, I don't need a new car. I also think that stocks suck and I could buy more silver or gold, but where would I keep it all?

There is trouble abrewing
remember that you can't really compare bitcoin to any other asset because it is a very new thing that is different from everything else. any asset that has ever existed faced challenges but nothing that constantly put roadblocks in front of it reaching its potential. while bitcoin is the opposite, it has a lot of potential and so far it has been facing a lot of challenges preventing it from achieving them.
and being revolutionary you can't expect it to "change the world" in only a decade!

there simply is no asset that can have any returns even close to bitcoin in the long run. maybe some innovative company (like Apple for example in early days of it) that is brand new and you could get in on the ground floor but nothing  else.

as for diversification i personally only have gold although i never trust its price in the long run like in 5 to 10 years!

I am not so sure about that, even after I experienced a VERY good year in 2017. Most people who invested in Bitcoin in 2018 will disagree with you on that.  Wink

Remember we do not have any guarantees that we would ever have a repeat of anything that happened in previous years. Yes, Bitcoin has loads of potential and it might happen, but it is not written in stone.

A lot of assets has a much longer history than 10 years to prove my point.  Wink

A year or two ago, I was one of the lucky people who broke even with my investment capital and since then I made almost 800% profit on the capital that I invested in Bitcoin. I decided very early on that I would not have all my eggs in one basket and I started to sell some bitcoins to buy assets and also collectables to serve as a plan B.

How many people sold some bitcoins for some profit and used that profit to invest in something else, just in case something went wrong with this experiment?

If you follow the same strategy, please share your thoughts on what you are buying or planning on buying to distribute your investment portfolio?  Wink
I usually want the same same strategy by using a plan B way of making profit because I'm kind of a person that believes that there is always an open opportunities available somewhere every time. But my current plan B for this month was investing into Ethereum for the hard fork free coins and as you can see the price is going up slightly.

Let's just get something straight, I am not trying to tell people to sell their coins now, to invest in a Plan B, because that would be stupid with the Bitcoin price being this low. I just want people to consider investing in a Plan B, once they show some decent profits on their Bitcoin investment.

I am still buying bitcoins , but I will always have my plan B. I do not invest in Fiat currencies, because I believe they will all fail eventually and Stockmarkets are due for a correction, so I pulled some investments from that too.

Very rare coins and stamps hold their value for a lot longer, and I like to collect it.  Tongue

Recently I paid for my hosting to launch an E-commerce. I paid using Bitcoin. No sure where will I go with this eCommerce project but if I make it a success then for sure I can say that the investment for hosting was paid off well.

I didn't really do anything with the bitcoins I sold. ( I sold around the range of 14k-17k )

For now I'm just sitting on the money I've gotten so I don't really know if I should buy more bitcoin or just spread my money in other sources or even just keep the money for now like I've been doing.

If I were you I'd diversify my portfolio. Try to find a source for passive income which can guarantee you a stable income for years. It will be a great strategy especially if bear market comes again. I'm a bit unfortunate because I don't have that many bitcoins and asset so it's hard to invest and diversify my portfolio.

I mostly spread out to various index funds -- S&P 500, DAX, CAC 40 etc. Since I live in the EU mostly biased towards EUR based indizes to limit foreign exchange risk.

The classical markets are pretty grim right now as well though, so I'm in the red ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Still a better hedge than alts though and not money I need in the immediate future, so it'll turn around eventually.

I somewhat followed the same plan because my Post Graduation in Finance taught me to diversify the portfolio. However, I didn't invest in collectible items because the return is somewhat uncertain. Instead I bought an Single Premium Immediate Annuity Insurance plan from the profit I made back in 2017. It gives me a monthly income which will continue for 15 years and peace of mind because I won't have to think about the basic necessities even if I loose my job.

I suggest you to go ahead with similar type of Insurance plans which provides monthly income as well as the capital protection for the insured period. I opted for "Refund premium" rider so I will also get back the premium amount at the end of the policy term. Let me know what do you think about my Plan B?
