This is probably a very logical thread between the two. I'm sure there are a lot of Alex Jones types in Ukraine and Russia (replace with Russian-sounding name).

There was some strange theories about question, but looks like nobody did not try to answer just directly to that question.
What can consolidate Texas and post Soviet ? Well, my guess - distrust to the government.

Google stats are never 100% accurate.

For example, both Austin and Houston appear in that list. Why is Texas so special?

Some anomolies there for sure.

Maybe the Russian interest is criminality?
Rick Perry calling for secession... Which no state can do by law... However Texans could definitely start using Bitcoin on the DL and try to avoid taxes from the "angry black man" in Washington.  Wink

Perry is a Globalist. You'll find that out though only if he wins the election.

And what's with the high Finnish interest?

I was going to say heating a sauna, but you can't really throw water on a mining rig.

Obviously, you aren't from Texas

I (not the quotee) am not from there any more...thank God.

I actually kind of liked Austin when I lived there.

I only went to Houston once for a few hours.  That was enough time to see a hit-n-run accident.  The cool thing about it was that both parties ran after about 15 seconds of getting their bearings.

And what's with the high Finnish interest?

They get to heat their homes for free.

Makes reindeer spotting & returning from ice fishing trips/skiing in -50c weather that much more fun

And they could sell polar bear skins for bitcoins

If there were any polars bears up there

Regarding ex-Soviets, there's A LOT of them who really don't like that socialism/communism thing. They had to live under it, so they're often more anti-communist/socialist than Americans.
Plus yea, there's lost of mafias there :/

I'm fully aware and always loathe people who talk sympathetically of the Soviet Union while condemning Nazism. The "ex-Soviet" tag was simply used to spruce up the title.

Wasn't accusing you of doing anything wrong or making any sort of assumptions. Just pointing out that both, ex-Soviets and Texans, have large section of their population as anti-Socialist.

Texans are a libertarian bunch (not the majority, but higher percentage than most states), and Austin is a major techie center of Texas. Plus the University of Texas is there, and lots of hippies and what not... Houston surprises me though, except that it is the biggest city in Texas population wise.
