When investing in a coin what kinds of things go into that investment. I have seen people invest from all of the above but wanted to know what most people try and do when putting their money in a coin.
Most people are trying to do a research on the technical value and the roadmap, A lot of people don't care about the value of the coin itself, the important thing about the development of the project itself that brings the more value to the token if the development goes smoothly. Just like some major token that was starting from nothing or zero and this them they are all already become a hero.
So, you can take your own conclusion about that.

Investing is nonsense if you will not have profit. What i do is to see how much is in its marketcap and how much it grew in the past couple of days an also look in there announcement to see what is going on. Because it is not easy to be an altcoin where you are not even recognized in the market. But off course if the coin you are investing is mineable, then the increase of miners is the most helpful thing for that altcoin to grow.

Well if you are trying to get such diamonds like bitcoin or etherium you need to look at the usage of this crypto and try to estimate its potential value. The most important thing is that this currency should be unique (not just a fork). Othervise if you are trying to speculate on altcoins then you should just predict the hype rate (preferably the future hype rate) of this  coin.

I base my investment on the following (in order):

1. Product / tech behind it
2. Developers / CEO etc. - basically the people behind the project
3. Community support
4. Transparency, frequency of updates, social media - might call this the marketing side, may also be the activity of the dev

On the poll it says someone else's research - sorry to say but I don't trust strangers over the internet for investment advice unless I did my own research.

I'm mostly into BTC as of now as the market is too bearish for alts. One alt I hold though is Deep Onion. It fits exactly in the categories I mentioned so I decided to throw in a few bucks to get the airdrop as they're a promising project. Feature rich, storng community and a very active and transparent team of devs, what more can you ask for. Their new airdrop system had been easier to get in and much more fair to new entrants now so it's a no brainer to hop in as early as possible. This coin could reach the moon in no time. Plus it has been listed in cryptopia, better exchange = more volume to be expected!

Looking into a different projects by researching and what others think about it too is good help, the market value of the coin is a good way to see if you will profit from it. I don't think going with all the hype helps too much in this case, because you don't get to know what your actually investing in.

Research is key to investing in coin and coin market value too, hype can be deceiving and too much hype can be a scam also. Must be cautious when looking into investing.

I always do research by myself. But sometimes I pay attention to the projects, that other traders mention in their blogs or on this forum.

My investment in coin is based on a research done by myself. Important things that I check about the project are is the idea useful, is team already established, what is the interaction with the comunity, and so on. I also check hypes but again I am doing my own research. But I also noticed that sometimes projects that have a potential to grow because they have great development team and periodic releases for a working products with good idea, are not always successful. I suppose that it is because of a hype of some other coins.

Making a research is very important if you are going to invest on a coin or ICO. From researching, it can give you an idea and you can determine if the investment you are going to join is a legitimate one or a fraud investment. You can't just flow and rely on hypes. There's so many shill accounts here who are just advertising their products. But when you look at it. It's a no potential cryptocurrency. So be careful and make a research to make a good decision. You don't have to deeper your research. Just make a research about the people behind that project. It's hard to join at any ICOs these days because of what happening to ICOs. Tezos for example. This is the biggest ICO I've seen so far. But look what happen?

Verify is an Ethereum-powered Reputation protocol
You really have to understand the value proposition. Something that would be useful to people, people will quickly pick up on it. Don't be afraid to do your research.

The short answer is I base my investment on the research I do about that coin.

I definitely base my investment into coins on my own research as well as the hype around it. Generally the more people that know about the coin the more successful it is going to be. At the moment I am seeming a lot of hype around the upcoming ICO, Propthereum.io. I have also been doing my research on them and find them to be a very interesting investment. I mean they are an asset backed cryptocurrency and are expecting a 1566% coin appreciation in a short period of time. Check them out and let me know what you think because your opinions matter to me too.

Before making a decision to invest, I'm sure I'll first check the prices of all the coins on the market. Choosing which coin is a good price in the future becomes my one choice to invest. Only then will I buy some coins to analyze price developments if I believe it will be progress then I buy a lot to multiply its benefits.

When investing in a coin I first read other people's research (to cut time for obvious bad projects) then I do my own research by reading whitepaper. I don't really care about coin's market value if project is great, it is last thing to look. and... I hate hype value.

i am make investment base from research value and coin's market value because i think i will feel satisfied if i can found the good coins before i am investment so if something happen i can accepted. beside that, before i am investing, i will check the coins market value to start analyze and if i think i can make a good profit in future then i can buy for small amount first then i will analyze again to determine if i can add more amount or not in that coins.

I would say a few points are important so it is not easy to say which one is better than the other one. Both must exist in order to determine my investment decision. I cant rely my judgement just based on 1 factor as it has shown that even potential coins can be a bad investment.

I am often interested in the idea of coin. Then I am interested in its DEV team. There are many who support it. Then comes the technical elements of coin.
If the above factors are good I will decide to invest in it.

I think it's hearing about an ico/finding out about one and then doing your own due diligence. Of course this community is here to be your sounding board, but ultimately, it's always your call.

For ex. I heard about cybermiles here and asked various facebook groups about it and got great feedback, all the while reading more into it myself. This is all about community, but it shouldn't be completely dependent on it.

Doing your own research is the most important thing. Nowdays there are plenty of paid shills online and you cant believe what you read even if it the overall opinion is overwhelmingly good. Trust only yourself when it comes to investment decisions!

Since the start of the year when so many cryptos exploded I think a lot of people started going purely on hype. The people who made huge returns on ETH and BTC invested based on understanding the coin utility. That is the best way to see something explode in your portfolio. Don't invest because someone thinks its going to go 500x. Ask yourself why and learn about the coin.
