For me when I say bitcoin is number 1 I mean it is all the best cryptocurrency we all know that bitcoin is the first currency that have been discovered by us and it's the most trusted currencies.

When I call it number 1 I mean that it was the most successful pioneer in the field. Also, I imply that it has a lot of ideologically polarized people who adopted it at the initial stages that let it become popular and more decentralized as significant amounts of bitcoin were distributed amongst blockchain enthusiasts instead of corporations.

Bitcoin became the first cryptocurrency success and it has the largest market volume, and enjoys preeminence in almost everything that's got to do with cryptocurrencies because many trust in it and it has withstood the test of a longer time than all the altcoins so I think it makes sense to refer to it as number 1.

Of course Bitcoin is number one because it is the world's first ever digital currency. For now, it is the only gateway towards converting to fiat currency. It is why lots of altcoins cannot topple Bitcoin for a very, very, very long time. Unless Ethereum and the rest are going to step up as alternative gateways for fiat currency conversion. Just my two satoshis.
