Haven't done any KYC in casinos, but I have seen KYC up to lvl 5, but forgot which casino.

Comment #2 I think this is right where it is required by casinos with certain level stages, then you have to show documents as a requirement.

To clarify further: Additional levels in KYC procedures may include Level 4, which requires the submission of more detailed financial source documents, such as bank statements and employment certificates. Level 5, which focuses on advanced review of funds coming from international sources, including review by international financial authorities.

There is also the corporate level in the case of legal entities, where the identity of the ultimate beneficiaries and the company’s licenses are verified.

These additional levels aim to enhance security and provide the highest level of transparency and legal compliance.

There's not that much difference from kycs of casinos and exchanges but of course they have different ways of verifying or satisfying themselves when you're not able to satisfy them with your requirements.

There’s a big difference between the kyc of casinos and that of exchanges - I have completed kyc for several of my exchange accounts and in all of them I’ve only used my BVN number without having to go through any lengthy process and it was accepted instantly - but for the case of casino you’ll have to submit several documents at different levels just to be on the safer side.
You've got a different experience than mine so, we can conclude that it varies but that's what I think about them if I'd base it on my experience.

And it’s also very rare for exchange to call a customer back to come and redo or submit an extra document just so they can very something - they do so only in extreme cases unlike casinos that do it whenever a player wins any thing big.
I've read people that have experienced that in some local exchange. It happens when someone has deposited a huge amount or trying to withdraw big amounts for which is the same as the casinos.

What do casino's ask for when they request from you these?
KYC level 2
KYC level 3
As far as I know and in most general terms I have seen KYC for casinos only at Level 1, rarely going through the process for KYC levels 2 and 3, however usually the next level of KYC depends on your gambling activity or on the user's demand side.

But I have read the requirements for KYC level 2 & 3 that are requested.
For example:
Quote
To comply with KYC Level 2 & 3 requirements for online casinos, players are typically required to provide a variety of personal information (location, age), including government-issued identification documents such as a driver's license, identity card or passport, and proof of address such as utility bills, bank statements, and salaries. In this way, in addition to checking the legitimacy of the funds, namely their source, the casino can verify whether the user is capable of playing.

The point is: I haven't reached KYC level 2&3 yet, maybe one day when I reach it I will give it to you and as far as I know, different casinos have different KYC requirements, I mean additional requirements besides passports.

So even if you have completed all of those requirements that were mentioned by our other co-forumers.

You'll still be subject to any other additional compliance unless you're a big hit to them and they will take care of you.

Comment #2 I think this is right where it is required by casinos with certain level stages, then you have to show documents as a requirement.
Level 5? That’s crazy!

I wonder what they’ll start requesting from users when they get to that level - perhaps, they’ll start requesting them to submit future documents that is documents that they hoped to acquire in the future.

But to be honest, level 3 is more than enough unless they decide to split it into more levels and just make it look bulkier than normal.
At first sight or thought, indeed that we can say it's ridiculous or crazy but like you said it is also possible that they only make it look more bulkier, though for what reasons? I am sure that wasn't to impress the public because it is intimidating seeing it.

Interested players shouldn't rattle though and they must learn how to read the information because I think the first 3 levels are only easy to achieve while the 4th and 5th levels are likely be the equivalent of the usual level 2 and 3 that we can see on other casinos. On level 1 KYC, I think we are only being asked for an email and even our phone number, while on level 2 it is when we are ask by an ID and then a selfie holding it.

For the final level, they can ask us a billing document, a bank account statement, and documents of residency. Sometimes passports and driver's license are on this level too.

At this point, I think I realized the importance of having an extended levels of KYC because a company can be able to split the requirements to make it look more manageable for some customers who are having a hard time of providing it. They can't only enjoy the perks if ever a casino have it because they usually start on medium to a higher level of KYC.

Most of the online gambling sites that I used require a passport for KYC level 2 identification. Other gambling sites do accept driver's licenses or any other document that would prove your name address and date of birth. I think those are the most important details that should be in your identification so that you can pass it.

I understand that some government IDs don't have those details so you should look for an ID that have all those details on one card so that you could pass it. For example, we have here in our country a government healthcare ID that lacks all those details except the name only. I don't think they will accept that.

You forget about the first phase of the KYC, which is the primary KYC that requires the gambler to fill out their name and mobile number when necessary.

Totally correct, the different levels in identification, is just a means for the casino to get to know you as a customer. So they request as you play more and win more, you complete these verification steps so you can access all features of the casino and don't get restricted during any withdrawal process. Each of these kyc levels has different periods of completion but to be on the safer side, it would be better to completely fill them or go through them as early as possible so it doesn't become an issue later on.. just to be clear, all casino might not have the same requirements for each kyc levels so do proper research on what is required before registering on any casino so you know which documents you have or don't have.
Different casinos have different modes of identification but basically they all want to make sure that they get to know you as their customer. We just have to accept these KYC verifications as parts of the processes and the phases of registrations of online gambling. Many gamblers don't like the idea of submitting their KYC to whom they're not seeing but it has become a necessity. I don't think that the casinos cares for this KYC drills from gamblers but they're also complying to government regulations.

Level 2 are a lot less complicated that Level 3. It is easier for casinos to verify the legitimacy of ID documents for level 2, than having to validate the authenticity of documents that are needed for Level 3.

You have to remember that these source of income documents are provided in different languages and that they need specialists third party companies that are efficient in those languages to verify these documents, so it will take a lot longer to authenticate these documents.

Good luck, if you source documents are not in English!  Tongue

Thanks in advance
Looks like a stake KYC process  Roll Eyes and am guessing level 1 was left out because this is too basic and anybody can pass this stage.

KYC level 2 should be a breeze too as it's usually asking for some form of "legal" user identification ..

And I believe the menace on these has to be KYC level 3 asking for sources of income and the alike..but usually submitting a bank statement works just not sure if we have wallets that generate statements that can help passing this process.

This is kinda funny, if anyone ask me to provide newspaper of the day I can't because I don't do newspaper, this is a new era where technology have taken over, everything about latest news can be find online, why newspaper in 2024?
It may be to show the date the picture was taken, to ensure the documents submitted were not fake. Some will ask you write specific words on a piece of paper and hold that while taking a selfie.

imagine the struggle living in third wolrd country
and the sign of my street is like a km away from home hhahaha
if u missed the selfie and need to try again and again hahah
because yes its sooooo f..king easy to take selfie holding documents and trying to catch the name of ur street hahahah

Wow, this is the first time I have seen such requirements. It humiliates me; even winning a hundred bucks is not worth identifying yourself. If a casino stoops to delaying payments of such amounts, it may be worth changing such a casino and not exposing yourself to the risk of revealing your data.

It depends. There is no single standard set of information that casinos require from their customers whenever KYC is implemented.

You forget about the first phase of the KYC, which is the primary KYC that requires the gambler to fill out their name and mobile number when necessary.

For level 2, they will request means of identification such as a driver's license, international passport, national identification card, or any source of identification that could be used; there is always not much documentation needed for level 2, depending on the casino.

Level 3, the casino will ask for source of income and residential address when necessary and all the private information that you could ever think of, but this varies depending on the casino.

If my memory serves me right, address is normally asked in level 2 KYC. Level 3 KYC is mostly about your money-- the source of it, your capacity to legally produce a certain amount, and so on. Level 2 is more or less proving that the identity you are claiming is truly yours. I think there even are KYCs that include your image in the first level.

Again, KYC varies from one platform to another.

I don't request loans~
The formulas are almost always generally the same. Level 1 asks for basic info, level 2 asks for detailed info, and level 3 (and further, if any) asks for specific details about your financial situation. A financial statement to be exact. Varies from casino to casino but at the very top is usually your financial statement. If it was local they might even be more strict by crosschecking everything through the banks associated to your name or even your workplace lol.

Everything you asked depends on the casino in question; primarily, they'll always request for your phone number, your name, a valid email with which to link your local bank details later on...

After surfing around and playing a few games, they'll likely not bother you as that doesn't really require the second level, but when a win comes and you wanna place withdrawals, they'll definitely ask for your IDs, your driver's license, proof of identification etc..
Finally, you're given 80 out of 100% access althrough until when you decide to run exclusive packages or a huge jackpot/win drops in your wallet, there and then, photos, prove of photos and videos, proof of resident etc will set in.
that's right, maybe not all casinos are the same in terms of kyc because there are definitely different stages whether it's the order or others. But what is clear is that when a casino asks for kyc then we must fulfill it like email, telephone number, that's something that we definitely have to fill in or also with a bank account and bank username to ensure the deposit and withdrawal process later. besides that kyc must be fulfilled because it is indeed something that needs to be considered so that there are no problems when placing bets later.
usually I fill in kyc at the beginning and of course when making a withdrawal there are things that must be fulfilled again such as further confirmation that must be done by the player in order to be able to take home the winnings that have been obtained such as ID or others and sometimes video interaction or video recording of our facial recognition is needed to match our own ID. That's sometimes annoying but it must still be fulfilled so that everything goes well.

It is assumed that you as a gambler is requesting for a casino account upgrading probably you want to start staking higher than the level you are and also enabling you to maximize your withdrawal or probably unlimited withdrawal limits.

Each casinos has their requirements for account upgrading to different levels so, it all depends on the casinos but it is sure that they would always request for higher personal documents of the account owner to revalidate the your previous provided informations in request of the upgrades and certainly, the more level you seek to unlock is the more higher documents you maybe asked to provide. These are usually government issues IDs and proof of source of incomes or your tax bills.
It confirms you the qualifications of the request account level you appeals for.

Level 2 is ID and level 3 is residency permit, proof of residence address and proof of income or inheritance etc as far as I'm aware.

But also keep in mind that some casinos might have different rules and ask for things that are quire arbitrary to acquire. You should look for past cases where users where asked to give more exact identification and KYC documentations to see what they were asked about. If you live in a country where you can't get these documents maybe best to stay away from such platforms in my opinion. Casinos better be open about what documents they might ask from the start, even if they just ask for these documents on occasion.

Kyc level 1 means normal information, Name, email, phone number, address or security code or number.
Kyc level 2 means, proof of address, national identity cards, passport, driving licence and somehow electric/gas Wasa bill documentary,or Bank statements
Kyc level 3, means advanced verification, Face verification, video calls interview or etc.

Aside from the mentioned above, it depends on the casino itself as you need ro check their terms regarding AML/KYC policy. Under this section, you will know their kyc requirements per level. It means, you need to inquire this aspect on the site itself as it may vary a lil bit from one casino to another.

But as a player, you need to prepare yourself that as you increase the level of kyc verification, it may entail providing some of your personal details. So ask yourself, to what extent do you want to disclose your details to the site? Better choose the site where you will share your details, as much as possible, to the site that you really trust and you regularly visit.

What you are asking for here might differ from a casino to another, each casino is using different ways to verify users, which means the KYC level are going to have a different meaning or requirements.
Basically, the first level of KYC is always the ID verification of any person beside asking about a selfie to confirm your identity with you ID card, mainly this process are verified by AI systems nowadays. It takes only few seconds to process it, if the casino is using quality control softwares.
The second level of KYC, from what I have seen and processed with casino registration and verification, they will ask for your proof of address, which should be the same as your first registered address and ID.
The third or the rest KYC, which are demanded or asked for when the player is suspected of doing something illegal or cheating, they require the funds source, or video call with few questions about your activity inside your account.

As I have mentioned in top, each casino will have a whole different process, but basically they all ask about basic things in first levels then go to detailed informations.
