with the current scalability of layer 2, I think arbitrum will be good for the future, especially this year and next year.
If you want to buy now, it's not a bad time and you can accumulate it over the next few months.

Arbitrum is one of my favorite altcoin. Arbitrum, an another Layer 2 altcoin, has leading technologies and it is set to solve some critical issues in the crypto market where others network has been plagued with. the recent skyrocket growth of the Arbitrum ecosystem, makes me more serious about it and hope it will inherently in demand among people. I'm planning to buy it for higher gains. So what do you think? Is this Arbitrum worth buying? And what do you think about the future of this altcoin?
Well imho it shouldn't be a token in a first place, as it was working fine without it. I see governance tokens as a waste of time with projects like this, as i am sure that most of the holders doen't understand what's best road to take when it comes for the code anyway. So why they even bother to vote?

And i've said this before, but now it's going to be whale hodlers who will use it as much as a cashcow as they can. Most likely it all will be sort sighted decisions, like with most companies that prefer fast profits before innovation. So technically i could see fast gains for it if future of token mechanics are being manipulated by whales. But take all this with a grain of salt as i might be bitter not getting the airdrop even when i tried. Smiley

What arbtrum did for me, was made me more interested of Ethereum as layer 1 than i was before, because something like arb was build on it. I wasn't interested so much arbitrum token though.

If you are buying Arbitrum for high gain, ensure you buy in a huge amount of money and hodl for a long time before you can sell to achieve your desire because if you apply short term hodling on the Arbitrum, I don't think you will achieve what you want from your investment.

Anything that concern altcoins, it hard for someone to predict it right sometimes because they can do some funny things that will make someone to regret never to invest on that particular altcoins the way the price will continue dumping in the market

(...)Personal opinion, I like Optimism better than Arbitrum, but Arbitrum has highest TPS among Layer 2s, and constant development so I'm gonna hold some for indefinite amount of time.
Me too, really like the Optimism, but clearly the development direction of the project is different. With Optimism, I see they focus more on building new layers than building ecosystem infrastructure.

How do you mean? Optimism is building OP ecosystem too, new chains are announced frequently on their Twitter handle build upon OP stack and all them collectively making Optimism a Superchain. Imo, Optimism is on it's way to become mighty force in crypto ecosystem.

Quote
And Arbitrum shows the ecosystem development strategy, proving that TVL is always in the leading position in L2. But to be honest, ARB is potential is still very much there, I have some speculations that the price will increase a lot in the upcoming growth cycle.

Arbitrum is leading in terms of TVL and TPS right now, but I feel in long term Optimism gonna surpass it.

I see some similarities in the competition in Optimism vs Arbitrum, similar to Linux vs Windows Smiley . And the Optimism direction is like how Linux can be customized according to the user's wishes, while Arbitrum builds a diverse infrastructure.

But it must also be too separate when both are worth speculating, the potential is undeniable, and it would not be too surprising if both of them will be leading in L2 in the near future, although currently there are many competitors the new also has potential.

Arbitrum for me is the best layer-2 network for me, in my own opinion.
This chain is the most chain among all layer-2 networks I have a lot of volume transactions, especially in all Decentralized Finance (DeFi) platforms.
As you can see, Arbitrum is the TVL among the layer-2 that is based on Ethereum.
Have heard this ARB from a friend since last year because this is one of the coin he had invested
and wanted me to check and tried investing but I forgot it then not until I read this thread and now that
you mentioned this about best in layer 2 networks and I think there is still room for investing then I will
consider buying while the price is discounted.

Layer 2 is the future of ethereum scaling solutions, and this ecosystem will grow rapidly, but the problem is there are already so many layer 2 out there and more are coming. So the money inflow of these layer 2 will not go to one single project but it will split in various layer 2 that already exist. Arbitrum is already one of the leading projects in its sector, so it doesn't have to worry about defending its position. Other layer 2 are providing unique ideas and better technology so it will be a big competition among all these new projects.

I think Arbitrum will be one of the top gainers this year because ARB is a good project and many projects have joined their ecosystem.
arb enables cheaper and faster transactions, one of the problems with ethereum that arbitrum solves.

the only thing that disappoint me with arbitrum is probably the fact that fee is quite high with this blockchain maybe because the traffic is high and it also implies that many people are using the blockchain but as a L2 it supposed to be cheap but sometime using arbitrum executing smart contract method it requires $2-3 even though its cheap if compared by ethereum standard its quite expensive if compared with other L2 like matic and so on.
but the future of arbitrum is bright to be honest, so many defi succeeding the ecosystem is also flourishing but if its already increasing in price that it touches the price of its initial listing, i doubt its gonna be good investment but regardless its still worth it to invest rather than investing in older coin that has lost its user base and community anyway.
but I would be on to look out to see the other L2 thats gonna be released in the future they might be having higher potential since so many of them are having some staking program that have locked hundred millions of dollars alone as a TVL and that looks promising in my opinion.

Would you share your thinking on why Arbitrum is better than Optimism?

Eventually I think the hype will die down.
Later 2s to Ethereum will be plagued by the same fundamental issues Ethereum has.
Expensive transactions, complexity and centralization.

Even ethereum's most nodes (who have now replaced miners) are run on commercial servers. The requirements (and financial incentives) make it almost an impossibility to run an etherum full node on a home computer. Imagine getting slashed and losing thousands in eth just because of a power outage for instance. This has brought a lot of centralization on later one even.

On the other hand, the so called web3 is also very centralized. Every transaction metamask processes for instance is based on centralized relays that can get hacked. And even websites don't use their own nodes. The recent hack of ledger's library for web3 proved how flawed and centralized web3 is. These issues are becoming harder to fix as we get more layer 2s, not easier.

Maybe in many years there will be a DeFi as decentelized as Bitcoin. When that comes, and if, solutions like Arbitrum will remain in the past.

I also hear a lot of good things about ARB. I missed the airdrop of it but it seems that it won't end up being like that, unlike the others. I guess you can compile all of those good feedback and thoughts about ARB and see to it that the community is very supportive.

Arbitrum also provides large airdrops to its community, showing their seriousness towards the project and community.
Are they continually doing it or you're talking to the one that was done last year which I missed?

I hear a lot about a good alternative project to replace Ethereum for Arbirtrum. As TVL, it is a project with good values. I know that they have a fast Layer 2 ecosystem, I am generally positive, even though I am not hodling it right now. Even their slogan, Etherum of the Future, is actually quite an ambitious approach.

Arbitrum will have a good future, because there are so many projects trying the Arbitrum ecosystem, plus the fees offered by ETH Arbitrum are much cheaper.
that's why my prediction says bullish towards arbitrum.

There are a lot of coins that are promising to solve scalability problems and other problems that we know about, I don't have that one in my portfolio, I just continue with MATIC as the L2 coin.

I'm thinking about making contributions in these other currencies as well, just to speculate.

I think Arbitrum is a good and widely used multichain network, this is an alternative to sending ETH with low fees.
Arbitrum also provides large airdrops to its community, showing their seriousness towards the project and community.

arbitrum is layer 2 though, but im kinda pessimistic with these L2 coin they rarely rise that much after initial massive pump basically right now the ones that pump so much are always L1 like SEI,SUI, solana and so on even though lately optimism has been gaining some good increase, but doesn't this just means that if ethereum is rising in the future, even more so when ETF ETH approved, i think these L2 are also gonna be having some pump, maybe right now still right time to accumulate arbitrum and so on so holding it might be a good thing, but one thing for sure we haven't see any real bullrun yet.
if you think arb is good just hold it, because its indeed good, just like optimisim and aptos, but expect to see more and more L2 coming up this time around, so many l2 are created these days maybe it will disrupt existing L2 a bit.

Arbitrum's TVL has grown expotentially lately, it's the reason for the price hike you are seeing. However, I expect it to dump with the huge unlock that's coming in March, unless there is some change in that unlock via governance, it's likely to dump somewhat.

Personal opinion, I like Optimism better than Arbitrum, but Arbitrum has highest TPS among Layer 2s, and constant development so I'm gonna hold some for indefinite amount of time.
