i like thier platform but you gotta sell your waves during a bear market. I've seen it dumped from $50 to $0.50 which means no one is interested in holding this token despite how long it had been existing.

i used to be an investor so if you haven't bought it yet, just move to something else. several coins on top are more worth investing and even holding for long term than this one.

Hi thanks for the reply. I'd really appreciate if you can give a few examples or tell us some of what you hold

same projects that people here are investing in. mostly BTC and some top coins. that's the usual answer, you just have to look at the list.

i'm assuming you already have $WAVES and the question is that you are just looking for validation. well, since you already have them, you might as well just hold them for now until the alt season. or maybe stake those WAVES you got. as far as i know, there are WAVES to earn upon staking. APY i believe is around 7%.

Many thanks for the response. Actually no, I am not invested in Waves. I was just observing the charts only and realised how popular it was back in the day among the members of this site. Like many members say it looks like a pump and dump scheme hence I won't be investing

that's just about right. disappointing that even if you hold your token for the whole cycle of crypto, WAVES will still come back to its ICO price if they all just dump the token in every bear market. this is most likely because there is no adoption of this platform. what they have is the stablecoin of their own.

and this is also the problem with crypto projects that if the USDT/USDC is not going to be in their platform, it's always going to end up as a shitcoin.

There is a saying that with age, a person's charm diminishes, and it's the same with Waves now. There isn't as much hype for Waves in the current market because investors have many options, so old coins don't attract as much interest. I remember when I was new to the crypto market, I heard that Waves was the next Ethereum, but that has never happened, and I don't have any such hopes for the future. Now, new investors are more focused on AI coins and meme coins.

Hi, some years back Waves has been hyped as the next Etherium. What do you all think about this project? Does it still have any potential?

I don't think, waves still have the potential to increase higher to make their investors to feel the way they felt in the past when the coin teams was very strong to allow their investors to earn good income and say something good about the coin, because the price of the coin has reduced to lower stage to make those who are still holding to be afraid. This project started well, when it newly appeared in the market, because those that invested in the project some years ago enjoy some benefits from the project that made them to increase their capital to earn more in the future but the project has changed some signs in this season, that is making their investors not to invest so that they will not lose their capital in the future. You can still do more research about this project before you invest OP, I don't think this project will bring good results in the future, because the price is still decreasing.

But when you check the chart. Its evident that it has successfully broken all of its previous ATHs during every bull market
It’s highest price last year didn’t even reach 5$ and its ath which was reached 2022 was approximately at $60. This project has been here for a long time so I don’t really believe it’s going to suddenly show some outstanding results even in a bull run.

+ even if they break their ath again it’s going to be nowhere ethereum. Why compare this to ethereum?

Waves, It is a very old popular coin but so far it has not taken much price correction in the market.  However, it is not possible to say for sure how much the development of this coin will be in the future.  But day by day investors are losing focus on this coin and are getting interested in other platforms so its popularity is likely to drop from the market one day. I was such an old investor and now I have withdrawn myself from this platform and am deeply focused on other platforms.

Waves was one of the coins that was recommended to me when I first entered this market and I held it for a long time. However, during my holding period, I realized that the roadmap was constantly failing. For this reason, I sold all my Waves and bought Ethereum in those days. Today I see that I made a very right decision. Smiley

Recently, I was buying Waves to trade because it was an old friend, but a few days ago I realized that it is now on Binance's watchlist (https://www.binance.com/en-GB/markets/coinInfo-Monitoring). We all know what that means. It can be suddenly delisted by Binance and it can suddenly cause a 30% loss in our portfolio.
Waves is still in the development process. If you see failures in every roadmap they have then the path you have chosen is quite correct. But we know that the Waves company is already quite big and it is likely that they will get support again when the altcoin season arrives. If we have very limited money for trading then I will also do the same thing as you.

Hi, some years back Waves has been hyped as the next Etherium. What do you all think about this project? Does it still have any potential?
Every coin that i've seen has been hyped as the next Ethereum. I used to own waves and got in to some of tokens that were issued on there, but i never saw it as a serious project. But more of a snake oil salesman platform. And if Sasha still lives in Russia, i wouldn't keep my hopes up for the future of it.

I remember old poloniex owners laughing at the waves code (before Justin bought Poloniex and it was considered to be a good CEX), and told that they would never list that garbage. Now i am not a coder, but i tend to listen to people who are good at it, and i haven't seen any coder praising waves code ever. So i don't see it as interesting or anything i wouold waste my time on. And it doesn't seem to be maxis hating it, but everyone just "meh":ing it.

And then there are actual scandals from 2022 like this: Waves founder’s role in lost $530m raises questions about who’s to blame

Now not paying much attention to Waves their ecosystem is like dead not developing at all and if you compare with the current trend it is far away where the 1/2 layer network is becoming a lot of interest, a lot of attention is shifting here.

Never compare any coin with Ethereum it will not be able to compete not comparable to what I think, then many projects try to be in the Ethereum ecosystem because more people are here than others.

Hi, some years back Waves has been hyped as the next Etherium. What do you all think about this project? Does it still have any potential?
Yes several years ago Waves was considered Ethereum's closest competitor but they are left behind in terms of development and adoption, I remember back then it was easy to create a token on Waves you only needed one Waves to create a token and even a newbie can create one.

I remember creating one for fun and it's easy, but their platform is not popular now among developers they are not the chain of choice by developers.

So many news chains came out and Waves was left behind in developing its platform so many investors dumped Waves because of their lag in marketing and development.
It's better to invest in new chains like Solana or Polygon.

I too remember waves being a big deal in the past. It was hyped to be the next Ethereum. There once was a photo of waves founder Alexander Ivanov shaking hands with Vitalik Buterin. Not exactly sure about where waves lagged and was left behind. The easy token issue made waves a popular network for scam and spam tokens, that could be a negative impact on the image. Waves still was relevant a few years back but now it does stays in some exchange but there are no new updates about it. Newer and faster L1 solutions have killed many of such networks like NEM, it could be the same reason for waves.

if there wasn't this topic then I would have forgotten about this $waves token lol, I still remember around 2018 $waves attracted a lot of attention from investors until the price rose quickly but as time went by, investors withdrew their funds from waves because the developer does not have good innovation for the future of token waves, there is little chance for token waves to return to ATH imo.

But when you check the chart. Its evident that it has successfully broken all of its previous ATHs during every bull market

So, are you thinking for waves to repeat the same patter like what happened last years? Nothing impossible but i think it will not happen again. The volume has been divided and being competed by so many blockchains. People are also rarely using waves blockchain considering how complicated it is. I myself has left from waves ecosystem even before 2021 bull market.
The chart shows that if it was a pump and dump coin, right? Waves can't be a sustainable long term but it makes sense to gamble on this shit for short or midterm with hoping a miracle can happen and it can pump the price from $2 to the more than $30 again.

This coin has no prospect for long term. It's less volume, users, everything to be compared with the new blockchain like TON or even solana. Just take a look at the fact that if investing in waves mean if we are doing gambling for the instant pump that can probably happen.

I thinks high time we should move on as waves was the past I mean the amount of hype waves got was tremendous but it couldn't live up to its expectations and now it's just another failed Altcoin which no one would like to invest when there are lot of other options available in the market. A lot of investors lost their capital during the bear market in this coin. The roadmap was good but it couldn't sustain the market.

$Wave ? that's a typical example of why we shouldn't put a little hope in any Altcoin because they can fail us at any time. although this project had a very big hype in the space before but after a very short period of time it started depreciating.

And someone out there would be comparing this coin with ETH? that's absolutely nothing to be compared.

Hi, some years back Waves has been hyped as the next Etherium. What do you all think about this project? Does it still have any potential?
I don't think this project has that much of a bright future that it could become the next ETh. I would rather say that it would not go near to ETH because it's not a new project and after seeing its previous history we can say that this coins has many large dumps.

Especially I remember that once It revolved into the market around 50-55$ and then it dropped to some cents because people realise that it's not worth it to hold this. In short I don't see a bright future.

It only went through one bull cycle and after gaining it's ATH it has been dumped heavily and that is the concern. If an alt is not able to hold on to its price then it means the demand is not much and to increase its demand the development team needs to add new features to the platform. If your holding the coin then keep on holding them untill the price comes back to where it was when you bought them and then exit.

I agree but even coins like NEAR fell heavily during the bear market if you remember

I have noticed it before but if it is about its potential, I do not think that it will be the same as before. The potential was reached years ago and then bear market came until this project is no longer familiar to most.
With other projects going on with L1/L2s, waves will not be able to compete with any of them anymore.
