too much validation required, so I never bothered to try their services

Yes,this is so true because you will need to add pass and pin everytime and this is sucks

The validation required is meant to serve as a safety measure for YOUR bitcoin funds! It's hilarious how people want the convenience that Xapo offers but none of the security and then these people will start a thread on this forum talking about how their bitcoin were lost or stolen from their laptop.

It also represents a lack of knowledge of how banking businesses are run. A banking business can't be expected to develop a reputation as sophisticated, secure, reputable if they don't have specific security in place to protect their customers assets.

If you don't want the security validation you should keep your bitcoin in an offline or paper wallet...it's not a criticism to Xapo!

I signed up for them while ago. They're okay. They require too much information though before you can convert your btc to fiat. I would rather use coinbase or sell here

i was used it before but not anyomore because i dont like with identity verification
so far iam using blockchain, its simple than xapo
just because iam not using xapo it doesnot mean its not safe
how about fee transaction ?
xapo never give you fee for send your bitcoin
also xapo give you vault to keep more secure your coin
although there is no transaction fee on xapo i still prefer using other wallet than xapo even i never open my account over there,i've been falling love with blockchain
and so hard to move on from it and using another service

I used XAPO because of faucet purposes. Majority of my referrals commission came from XAPO faucets. That is the only used of my XAPO. And you don't need to give all your identity. Just activate the Send and Receive then you are good to go. I want their free transaction so I can transfer all my balance their to my btc wallet anytime without worrying the fees.

P.S : Don't drink too much coffee.

They're bankrolled by investors, though, so I would think that if they closed, they would return funds (allow some way of withdrawing). I don't see any real risk there. Them running with funds, especially with a court case in procession, would destroy their lives.

Running away with money is not the only issue here. Why do we suggest Xapo to this newbie user when there are other good online Bitcoin wallets?

THey're all different. That's like asking "Why would you say to shop at Walmart when there's also Target and Amazon?"

Ideally, you spread risk, regardless of if you're using online wallets or offline. I see no reason NOT to trust Xapo.

You cannot use most of the services of Xapo if you dont reveal your personal identity! This is not good! Bitcoin was built for and anonymity! And clearly you are risking both Privacy and Anonymity with Xapo! Switch to Multibit or Electrum if you need a wallet..or blockchain if you need an online wallet.. Blockchain might not be very secure but atleast it doesnt ask who you are and where do you live Smiley

if you want my opinion, i don't like them. they seem to be legit but my problem is not with their legitimacy.
my problem is that you don't have access to your private keys so in any case that they decide to run away or even block your account , all your bitcoins will be lost forever in their hands.

so in final they act like a bitcoin-bank or something similar? if u don't own the private key, you don't own bitcoins

Which online bitcoin wallets are good? Can you explain why?

Generally I don't suggest any online wallet, but if you are a newbie you should start with Blockchain.info.
Never put big BTC's in online wallets. Just use them for micro payments.

Thanks your answer. If someday I have big btcs, I will not put in online wallet.

I'm pretty skeptical about Xapo. Reason is here, read these news:

Judge: Fraud case vs. Xapo CEO can proceed: http://fortune.com/2015/07/06/judge-fraud-case-vs-xapo-ceo-can-proceed/
LifeLock Sues Xapo Executives Over Bitcoin Wallet: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/20695/lifelock-sues-xapo-executives-bitcoin-wallet-intellectual-property/

yep, that's exactly the reason why I'm not using XAPO at the moment. I like their easy wallet (as a hot wallet), but their future is very open in my opinion.

I don't like xapo wallet. I use it because some faucets pay directly to this wallet. But I don't use it for my main bitcoin jobs.
