Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, or something like that goes the saying. And its very true.

Unchecked, give someone power and he/she will start abusing it, even if it starts with the best of intentions, it ends in the worst. It has to me limited, in time and extent. The three branches were split for this reason, give two of these to the same person or group, and the trouble starts. They simply overwhelm everything the rule becomes theirs, no matter what. And no one can question them, or else...

And you will notice this in the worst countries. It is true that split powers often limits the speed where changes for good could be made, but the price to make is too great, so this shortcut may end becoming your destruction.

As much as you hate "the system", make sure your proposed changes don't take these shortcuts. But of course you will also want to avoid falling in redtape bureaucracy nightmare that lets nothing be done either.

It all depends on the person I suppose, some people use the power they've been given in positive way not letting it consume them where then it often becomes abused. I think greed & abuse of power go hand in hand.

Sometimes mistakes also the reason why people changing so from POWER ,MISTAKES then Changing personalities and attitudes .if we get used in committing mistakes that’s the chance that we are changing as well

The bottom line here is Power brings us to change by mistakes

I agree only partly. That is: Power can and will corrupt YOUNG people.
Older people who have already developed their personality and morale are a lot harder to corrupt.

I think it is interesting to follow news about people who have gotten money/power in their teens and see what they do and become. Most seem to lose it and maybe rediscover themselves in their thirties or something if ever.

i think even the older people with their personality or life-experience will be corrupt...

when they taste it.. then they are also lost ....

I totally agree with your statement that power can make someone change.
Because based on the reality that surrounds me personally even the leaders
in the country where I live a lot has changed because of power.
Even more sad again people change because of power will break many rules
to maintain his power. One of them who has the usual power
involved in corruption. But I believe that not everyone is like that, there are still many figures
who are good in this world, even though they have power they use it wisely. Wink

not many , i think more few ..... i am not saying it will transform immediately , but with the time, when the sweet taste of the power reaches them, then they will become evil...

say if a powerful person ask something from you , will you do it ... 99 of 100 you will do it .. i can tell many reasons and one of them is being afraid of the consequent of my action. denying will let me in a bad light , so i will do it to even its agains my will ... you can say , its not the person but the power let him do that ... but again most powerfull persons are spoiled, they are used to get what they desire / wishes .. and if you dnt do what they ask , you will regret it Wink

There are few people who will do things right. Doing things right in this case is moral and common sense leadership not necessarily obeying the law. This kind of people do not last long in power in my opinion. Unfortunately some believe that lack of accepting reality is why the good people don't last long in power.

Although yes sometimes it can be nothing more than a power trip, simply induced by the fact that they can act out like that, it can also be attribute to the fact that, in order to become "someone", you need to make sacrifices. It could be free time, friends, or even morals and ideals, in order to rise a specific mindset is needed to do so, simply because the large majority of powerful people are already strong characters with an ability to command and lead since their early days, while on the other hand the others have to quickly adapt and evolve in order not to be crushed in this game of power.
