The way to approach mining now is to look at it from a kW perspective first, then price second

1/ which 3 or 4 miners on the market give me the most hashing power using 2 kW per hour
2/ filter out the miners that are preorders
3/ of those left, which is the cheapest

Then look at how many 2 kW power points/fuse circuits you have to fill up, and then every month run this little test again and buy the winning miner until your fuse box cannot take another...or your house turns into a blast furnace of heat.

What's weird is that the cyclical nature of ASICs is so shortlived that I'm sure we could see a pattern where certain vendors are more likely to succeed simply based on what hemisphere they are located in.  Right now it's summer in the top half and nobody is thinking about adding more heat (sans maybe the Icelandic folk).

You'll probably need 9 to 10 Antminer S3's if you want 5 TH/s.

Either that or 10 to 11 of the Rockminer Rocket Boxes.  Which ever has a better price point per GH/s.

Honestly, if you want to make money but btc. If you want a hobby your best bets are spoond or gen 3 asicminer but wait for the new cube.

Im using the new A3233 chips 40 nm size and they are working great.  The Avalon 3 290 are the units I am running.  my ROI is about 3-4 months.

Nice work Smiley

That Spondoolies Tech looks like a beautiful thing...Ahhh dreaming :-)

I've been happy with my Bitmain S1's (they're out of stock for the moment)

*though I must add that I'd be reluctant to preorder anything

The Spondoolies are really nice.  But not something you can run just anywhere, they're really loud.

That's why this thread was created: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/hw-hosting-directory-reputation-622998

Currently I have an SP10 with Advania DC and I'm very happy with it. I get 19 degrees for the intake air which is damn nice and I pay the same price I would pay at home. I had it shipped directly from SP-Tech to the DC!

thanks for the tips Cheesy! keep em comming Smiley   btw should i but tons of Graphic cards to ?

No graphic cards for bitcoin. Depending on your ability to retain information, you may have a lot of studying to do before you purchase anything.
Scan the forum for a couple days :-)

If you want in-stock hardware, your choices right now are Bitmain for their Antminer S2 (1TH/s) and Lee's Dragon (also 1TH/s).  If you want to pre-order, you can get a Spondoolies-Tech SP30 (6TH/s) for September.

The currently available 1TH/s units will run you about $2000 USD each (give or take).  The SP30 is $5095 USD.

If there are other hardware choices currently available, I'm sure someone will come along and post them.  I only provided info about the ones I know Smiley
