If it's really true that majority of Turks voted to give him more power (there are accusations of vote result tampering), then they're getting the government they truly deserve. Really sad since they seem to even have a better government system than in my country and they're now throwing it away. He's concentrating power into a single position and that don't always have good result.

Till now they have arrested more than 100,000 people (Gulen supporters). Some of them have been released, but many of them are still in detainment. Reminds me of the great purge by Josef Stalin during the 1930s and the 1940s.

At least it's not as brutally theatrical as Saddam Hussein's purge... at least not yet.

Heard something about them blocking Wikipedia and arresting 4000 people...

All began after the alleged attempted Coup d'état (stroke of state) last year.
I said alleged because there are many rumors that president Erdogan organized it in order to justify restriction of political freedom and democracy in Turkey.
After that event Erdogan, without any trial, closed many political opponents and journalists and he dismissed many soldiers, policemen and teachers.
It's the first time in the last 100 years of history that Turkey has returned from the path of democracy to the dictatorship of Sultans.

I think it's a fkd up situation right now.

The April 16th referendum has expanded Tayyip Erdogan’s authoritarian powers, so right now the latest news report full censorship in every media: "this Saturday nearly 4,000 public officials sacked, a ban placed on all dating shows in the country, as well as blocked access to Wikipedia". Those officials fired included people in the justice ministry, the army, the air force, and academics.

But this is normal, i guess, since we are talking about a full dictatorship...
