Is rx580 close to gtx 1060 in performance? Cause when i compare the cheapest gtx1060 to the cheapest rx580,rx580 is 60$ more.Is it worth that price?it's a 8gb rx580

The cheapest gtx 1070 8gb is 550$ and rx570 4gb is 310$.And the difference of rx 570 4gb and 8gb is 60$

Wow those prices are really crazy. Is this in USD right? If you lived closeby I'd sell you a gtx 1070 for $400. If you can get an rx 580 8gb for $300 that's decent. What about any people selling used closeby? A fair price for rx 570 4gb used should be around $200-$230. 570 8gb $250-$270. 580 8gb less than $300.

I agree! Those are fair prices.. exactly my asking price for rx570 4gb 225usd, 275usd rx580 8gb.
OP i send u a pm and lets see if i can get a rig shipped to you for cheaper.  Wink

If you mine Eth, the rx 580 is close to gtx 1070 in performance. rx 570 4gb is close to gtx 1060, but some special rx 570 can perform like rx 580/gtx 1070.

man i'd just start with better gpu and get less and have cards with more longevity, then build up as you save more money.

just seems the trend is higher memory will be better in the long run.

So as the title says...I was thinking about building a mining rig for a while now and i had planned to get 13x gtx 1050ti 4gb cause I will get AsRock H10 pro btc+ motherboard, and cause of the price for which I can get them in my country and electricity cost.  1060 3gb is almost 3x the price (around 2.7x) and 1070 is even more, but now i have the opportunity to get free electricity so I was wondering if mybe i can get more hash power out of lets say 7x 1060 or 5x 1070 or any AMD RX gpu for the same price of 13 1050 which would be around 2500$ in my country.I will buy a 1200W psu so Im covered there.I was planing to mine ETH at the start until in goes to POS and then ZCash,Monero etc.I am open to any and all suggestions

where are you located? I might be able to get you a 6xgpu rig with amd rx570 4gb or rx580 8gb. with biostar tb250, chip and rams. no PSU.
pm me if your interested.. I been selling off a a lot of my AMD cards in my facility to make room for new hardware coming in.

Free electricity you say? used Radeon 7970s, 7990s and/or R9 280Xes... they go for around 100 usd each (the 7990 can be tricky to find, but if lucky, fairly cheap). And downvolt every card as much as you can. My 7990 and r9 280 is downclocked to 950 mhz core, downvolted to 1 volt, from 1,2 which saves ALOT of power and reduces temps by at least 30%. each card makes 280 sols/s so ideal for equihash.. or if you want to go for XMR based cards cryptonote, its around 500 hs/card.

cheap budget rig that will ROI alot faster compared to any super expensive new card.

Just found this
1. Rig:
Asrock H61M BTC, Intel Celeron, 4GB RAM, 3x (corsair cs750m, XFX550), HDD 500GB, 4x Sapphire R9 280X Vapor-X, 1Sapphire RX480 4GB Nitro

2. Rig:
Asrock H61M BTC, Intel Celeron, 4GB Ram,
3x(corsair cs750m, Fortron 600W Hyper), SSD 120GB, 5x Sapphire R9 280X Dual X

All for 2100€..worth it?

Do not buy this. If those cards die you're out of luck. Stick to buying gtx 1060 or rx 570 if you can buy cheaply. How much is a gtx 1060 3gb where you live?

Typically I would just get as many rx 570 or 580's that I could and just bios mod them for higher hash and lower voltage

Don't buy gpus now, a 500$ gtx 1080 barely earns 1.5-2$ per day right now and that's considering everything goes nice and dandy, if i were you i'd take that money and just wait for bitcoin's bottom and buy, but if you're set on gpus then yeah the 1050ti makes sense, paying 2.7* for just double (or lower) the performance doesnt make a lot of sense

buy used at this time to lower initial investment cost since profits are dropping due to the tanking bitcoin value.

Paying retail price at the moment isnt smart, unless youre okay with not breaking even for the next several months.

3GB 1060s work pretty well for Zcash, but there are better options for ETH. I find that these offer a nice balance between rig density and price/performance. Do some deal hunting, and you can snag them new at close to $200 each.

cheapest brand new 1060 3gb I can get in my country is 277$  Cry Cry

just saw that there r some new rx560 mining edition cards for 150$...r they kinda on the same level as 1050ti?

There are few points that you need to consider before making your purchase.

First, there is something known as silicon lottery or manufacturer of your GPU Memory chip. It can be Samsung/Hynix/Micron. As of now, I've seen many people buying GTX 1050 ti  /  1060 end up with Hynix memory which sucks for ETH mining. For example, GTX1060 Samsung will do 24.5 MH/s where as GTX 1060 Hynix will do 17 MH/s with the best OC. Same goes with GTX 1050 ti. If you're lucky enough, you may get all Samsung / Micron which is pretty good but if you end up with Hynix, they won't do much good.
This is not an issue for GTX 1070.

So Let's make some calculations.

Scenario 1-a: You go for 13x  GTX 1050 ti and all come as Samsung. You'll be getting 13 *  14 MH/s = 182 MH/s, which is pretty good.
Scenario 1-b: You get 7x GTX 1050 ti as Samsung and 6x GTX 1050 ti as Hynix. You'll be getting  7 * 14 MH/s + 6 * 10 MH/s =  158 MH/s, which is not that bad.
Scenario 1-c: You get 13x GTX 1050 ti as Hynix. You'll be getting 13 * 10 MH/s = 130 MH/s, which is bad.
(This Scenario is only valid for ETH and other ETH forks because they are memory bound algo.)

Second, You should stick to Nvidia GPUs as you've clearly stated that you want to mine ETH and after it goes to POS, you want to shift to ZEC and other alt-coins. So, AMD is no brainer.
