Now some people seems to create duplicate accounts. I think this is happening with the Marinecoin (MTC). I'm not alone to think that the coin operator create threads to speaks with himself to promote his crap... It'll be annoying if this kind of things keep happening...  Undecided

Haha, I think you might be right. https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/monica87-223750 That user signed up and all "she" posts about is Marinecoin everywhere.

Yup, the main threads are now filled with newbie junk and spam URL shorteners, along with banal questions. It looks like middle schoolers from uscamistan invaded.

Ha, not heard of that before. Would make a great band name.

Are the mods sleeping today? Reported this begging thread a few hours ago: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/--427097 Edit: I see it's been moved.

Are these kind of begging threads allowed in off-topic: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/i-am-satoshi-nakamoto-426549 ?

to the newbie thread on bitcointalk.org?  Shocked

It was archived, and newbies were given access to all forums.

This is maddness!!! Already they are cluttering up the forums with redundant questions and meaningless posts.

It's not as bad as I expected and I'm sure it will only get worse, but at least with the previous restrictions it kept it all in once place and was easy to spot bots and people spamming their referral links.

How did they fix the spam problem?
Sorry, new here, what is the problem ? It seems I can't post more then once in 6 minutes, where does the spam comes from ?

You have to wait 6 minutes between every post. This time limit goes down the more activity you get. Mine is 28 seconds for instance.

Type in random topic numbers under 50000 in this format: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/some-questions-i-didnt-find-in-the-faq-8000 - you see even a better class of noob.

How did they fix the spam problem?

They didn't

It could be worse, imagine the spam if the alt coin board was archived  Undecided

And I think that's the main point. Now altcoiners wont create new accounts , to have an "excuse" to advertise their coin in one of the main boards anymore.

I'm happy to see 0 altcoin threads now, when I click on "Show unread posts since last visit". And that's really great.  Smiley
