last time i hear about satoshidice about 3 or 4 years ago.
and now they fully BCH bet. no wonder, considering btc have a slow transaction speed, people must be boring to wait it.
The reason they moved to BCH instead of BTC is not just the speed,

not just speed but also bch tends cost lesser as when compared to btc  in terms of transaction fees  however there are people that will only prefer to use btc over bch becaus btc is more accesible  .

anyway , i do heard the site satoshidice before but i didnt know that they are good because i see that some users here were still missing this site  . lets just hope that theyl soon return and sort out all the issue's that they face  .

The reason they moved to BCH instead of BTC is not just the speed, it is probably siding with the miners which tells us that maybe the new owners have a mining operation as well. If you want to keep the waiting time to minimum you could easily just pick up off-chain and you can continue to exist just like all many other dice websites.

There is really no on-chain dice website that I know that made it big since the off-chain system started to work, it was first just-dice if I am not wrong that started the off-chain and with that we started an era of people just putting their money into the casino and gamble and whenever they feel like they had enough they withdrew their money.

Unfortunately, satoshidice just didn't care and didn't want to work on it and just wanted to reep profits and they got in at the very wrong time when they bought the website.

well well,
last time i hear about satoshidice about 3 or 4 years ago.
and now they fully BCH bet. no wonder, considering btc have a slow transaction speed, people must be boring to wait it.
but,well .
i just have some speculation, gambling like this will be gone as time goes.
ok about their system its really fair, but they will forgotten by new system of gamble such as online casino or new gambling created by smart contract.
like trend on nowdays, its came from EOS and Tron Blockchain, they offered many many features on their casino, and i played sometimes.
and also they have a interest to who hold their shares and paying dialy or weekly.
i am not offering it but as we can see , Public interest in traditional games has gone.

Anyone who is active there may tell us the present condition.

Well since the site went completely on-chain for the bitcoin cash network you can easily see that its still a little active and pays out. Basically people make a bet by sending a transaction and when that transaction gets hashed and included in a block it uses the hashed transaction id and that is how it determines the winning roll.

Its a great way to do provably fair because its cheat proof however its really unncessary since requires users to send an actual transaction. The BCH network usually accepts free transactions so its not an issue but its a pain if you keep most of your coins in a ledger or cold storage because its alot of manual work just to make 1 bet. The way they had it before was better. You made a deposit, made some rolls and then made a withdraw.

It would be impossible to do thousands of rolls this way.

When the SatoshiDise was created, the competition was still weak or practically absent, but today no other trend should have been expected, because the user will always choose the best.

There are bigger and better casinos these days that put them out of the market

The new management did not care about the development and promotion of the site and this lead to the downfall of it.

Competition just killed them. If I am not wrong they were sold for like thousands of bitcoin at the first time and that created a huge news cycle where a business on bitcoin worth that much, nowadays we get that type of valuations and mergers or acquisitions all the time but it was the first time. After websites like primedice and others came up satoshidice were just old style and stopped getting attention.

That's right, dude. Their site began to be abandoned after emergence of gambling sites with a new style and which is clearly much better than SatoshiDice.com. After site was sold, developer did not provide a very good development and lack of development of features so they were abandoned until stalled. No one has developed it until now.

The site is still live but i never played on there in recent times. I wonder if they still active and givings withdrawals ?

I am just hearing about the site, haven't even visited it for the first time. I believe maybe they ran into some problem running it, or they have made their money back and decided to go underground. I don't see anyone investing 11million USD and just go like that without recouping their investment.

Running a casino business is by no means an easy task

I remember back in 2013/2014 the site had huge popularity (including being sold for a large sum) , and may have been one of the top dice sites. Bets would be flowing in a mile a minute. I just went on the site now and in the last 4 hours, maybe 4 bets have been made in total.

Their copyright hasn't even been updated since 2018.

Did something happen, or did the site just generally lose popularity?

I'm honestly just curious if someone/anyone knows something I don't.

Their official thread is actually still here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=77870.5480

Basically when it got sold a few years back the support was slow and people started to complain on the thread. Then I think it might of gotten sold again or at least the domain name. Since the domain name still has lots of value.

Right now when you go to the site, it seems they only accept onchain bets which are not even with Bitcoin but with Bitcoin Cash. So that is probably the reason why there are very little bets taking place.

In my opinion they should re-add the options to place bets with BTC and make it offchain as before. Since due to the transaction fees, people will move elsewhere.

And the fact that their BTCT thread is practically dead shows just how unpopular they are.
Their name (Satoshi) and the fact that they only accept BCH shows that they are supported by either of the two teams (BSV/BCH). Maybe they were bought by Craig Faketoshi Wright when there was only BCH and now they are abandoned by the team, let to run unattended in order to grab some extra coins from people.

That is my theory at least.

Satoshidice was very huge back in the day. And if you watch any Bitcoin Documentaries that talks about the early days of Bitcoin, it always talks about Satoshidice. The domain name is priceless pretty much because its a history of Bitcoin.

I think the sale of Satoshidice was the largest crypto business sale to date at the time and it marked a huge step for the crypto industry. And most likely if Satoshidice was never created in the first place there is a good chance that gambling with dice might of never been a big hit. But due to the huge success of Satoshidice other competition came out with their own version of betting with dice and this is why there are hundreds of dice crypto gambling websites.

Its just sad to see what the website has lead too, especially how you can't even gamble with Bitcoin but need to use Bitcoin Cash instead.

By gambling with bitcoin cash does not have not any problem at all from the start. Instead of bitcoin they choose bitcoin cash so it will be on their own choice but the problem is not that. On very first place people do not believe on their service anymore that is why they really have a low wagering amount. Even if they giving bitcoin as their main coin but no players coming it will just be the same. And if I am not mistaken they got scammed 300 btc just from their slot game, I do not know yet if this 300btc hacked is for real or just their playing

I am sure the current promoters of the platform would be asking themselves the same question as to where and what point did they miss it but based on the aggregation of opinions, its obvious that they have missed it since a long time again and what is forgotten is that the moment the people moved away from your brand, you will have to do thrice as much to even get a quarter of those people back.

The gambling industry part of bitcoin economy is evolving everyday and platforms that are planning long-term needs to ensure every dots is dotted and at the pleasure of the customers because without them there is no platform.

Honestly wonder what Voorhees would say about the state of the site now. It's honestly got to be a little bit saddening to see your #1 casino fall of the face of the earth for the most part.
We all know that Voorhees has been probably busy with other projects. Check his updated the latest news in cointelegraph link [1]

Or maybe he doesn't care because he already got the large buy-out.
I doubt that he would still care about that. That's why he accepted the buy-out.

I did remember checking out SatoshiDice for a time but I didn't get to play there. It's just that I recognized it. I researched on what other websites are telling about it and I found that it's quite good. I don't know if it's paid or something but it's still something. You could check out the review sites here [2] [3]

We now have other betting sites that are doing far better then satoshidice. Gamblers may have abandoned it because more features has been added to some of the new gambling and dice sites we have now. Maybe the owners should make more advert especially reintroduce signature campaign here because those that joined bitcointalk for the past three years may not have heard about this.

Same here, didn't know or heard this dice site. It ain't long enough to play dice game right now because there are new dice sites created and also legit. I wonder why those dice player still bet on the dice site even though there's not much bet and the issue that the site have like the question that the op is asking.

I dunno, it seems like those who still survive on gambling site because it has its own comfort in gambling there. What is felt by us is sometimes different from what is felt by other people or they are all fans bch haha

Honestly, this is the first time I am hearing about this website and never knew that it was one of the popular ones before, but I don't see the big deal since there are plenty of legitimate dice sites these days.

Based on my research, the site looks pretty dull and forcing gamblers to gamble with BCH is a surefire way to repel visitors. No wonder very few bets are being wagered.

Back in the day they were so huge that blockchain.info (now blockchain.com) actually had them integrated with their website so people would play there easily with their on-chain system instead of the methods we use right now, it would take a bit of time but transactions were faster so it didn't created any issues to wait couple minutes at most for your result to come in.

Competition just killed them. If I am not wrong they were sold for like thousands of bitcoin at the first time and that created a huge news cycle where a business on bitcoin worth that much, nowadays we get that type of valuations and mergers or acquisitions all the time but it was the first time. What I can remember from Satoshidice is that they're sold again for the second time and now it's under bitcoinvideocasino's management because when you visit their site you can see satoshidice is linked on the upper right of their gambling page. The group of people who bought Satoshidice from Erik Voorhees launched their own gambling site called megadice.

Seems this is another safedice case, which the admin went offline and the site looks dead.
It only looks dead because there's less bets but I think you could still get some responses from their support since they're with bitcoinvideocasino.
