Your private key will safe if you not visiting any suspicious web, better to keep your private key on paper or anything except in your computer / anything that can connect to internet.
There is nothing you can do if you lost private key.

If you dont want to take responsibility for your private key then use a hard wallet ! Like ledger or trezor. Those will keep your private keys safe.

I have read about at least one incident where the password was recovered through some method. But recovering a private key can be next to impossible. So in such cases, the coins will be lost forever.

Then you are doomed, you have toiled for nothing if the wallet hold a lot. Best way is to store it at more than one secure places. you can get a book and just write it in put it safely under lock, external drives too will be great. It is advisable to keep your key only on your laptop what if it breaks up and never comes back.

I was wondering actually how much Bitcoin is lost due to people locking themselves out fo their wallets. It's like some Bitcoin being burned because it is unusable and lost forever. That actually reduces the supply and I think there should be a lost bitcoin wallet site where people can declare they lost their private keys so that we can find out how much Bitcoin is actually lost forever and can't be used anymore. I am so curious to know how much as been lost. I really feel sorry for those who lost their private keys, it's so disheartening, especially if it was anything over one Bitcoin.

That's mean you should save your private key in the safest places. Yep. If you have the mnemonic phrase. If no, rather say goodbye and don't regret it, because your coins are lost forever.

If you want to keep your private key safe and secure you should keep it in a safe place where you are the only person who know it. In addition, you can print your private key and keep it a place or you can create a notes and save it in a file. There is an alternative way to retrieve your wallet just putting your number or email.

nope... there are no ways to reset the password or should I say private key.. Lots of people bought BTC at the very beginning, but then lost private key, and now.. they are biting their elbows..
By the way, have you heard that you can find some "fortune-tellers"/"magicians" who can help you to recall private key))))

we should not show laziness in bitcoin's wallets its to much risky we should always make a backup. That’s a must if you use bitcoins.

We should be carefull in keeping the private key, my advise is to keep it in a secret place, diary, or on your favorite book, its also better to keep in your social media accounts, even if you forgot it, you can have a copy of it.
