Airdrop means free coins. This is a form of introduction of their new token to the crypto community. They will distribute their own tokens to a limited number of participants depending on their particular rule. It does not automatically follow that because you have signed up the form you will receive some token. Please read the airdrop rules carefully because airdrops vary from one token to another. And please be careful when giving away your information.

A new Altcoin project started with Premine to some percentage, in that the developer uses some percentage to advertise his coin for that he conducts Airdrop which Means he is going to give free coins according to their Bitcointalk forum rank or some other way. In this Airdrop who ever user joins it they get free coins according to their rank and that coins when listed the user can sell immediately or according to their trading strategy and earn free bitcoins. So Airdrop means user gets free coins buy doing some task or filling the google spreedsheet prepared by the coin developer or their bounty manager.

I tried to register for some airdrops, but with a noob account it seems to be impossible to be eligible at all except for very small shares.

Can someone tell from experience what amount of tokens they got from airdrops and what they're worth now?
I'd like to hear some success stories. Otherwise it feels like faucets, a pathetically slow grind / waste of time.

depending on the rules they are requesting. sometimes airdrop does not accept newbie member. simple airdrop understanding is the distribution of coins for free to those who register it.

POStoken Airdrop accepts Newbie if the account have been registered before Sept 22.

Airdrop is one of the most common way of on distributing new coins which would really gain traction on the very first place just like been said on earlier post which you can actually make money on it once it do hit on exchanges.If your lucky enough to get those coins who are being hyped up later on then it will really possibly give you some decent amounts.

I`ve heard that many AirDrops are provided by scam-project these days. They ask you to download some app or even to tell them your private key from your crypto wallet. Don`t be a fool, don`t do it!

That's how it works.
When a development team (dev sometimes) wants to launch a new project and sponsor it (an ICO or a new Coin) usually they offer free coins.

Is just a free coin offered without any participation for the incoming ICO project. The only thing they do is just a registration for the scheduled date. But some coins aren't enlisted yet in any exchanger. But then, some airdrops coins are having big value in the market that makes others love to join airdrops.

Yes basically that is the jist of how true airdrops work. You sign up and the certain amount of coins ranging from 1% all the way to 99.9% will be airdropped to the community. Dont be fooled though some try to pan off social

media bounties or signatures as airdrops and these are not airdrops.

but when you get the coin from the airdrop and the coin is already available in exchange it is sold immediately because some people make airdrop only to get ETH after that airdrop coin is left alone. it does not matter because we get coins easily. just add a little Cheesy

Above answers have already stated what an airdrop means in the crypto world. What I would like to add is that many of them are complete scams which have been designed to steal your bitcoin. Do not ever download anything and never give anyone your private key.

airdrop is more or less the same as promoting a new coin that will come out, but unlike the bounty that has to do the task, airdrop is more giveaways for free without having to do heavy tasks.

it looks like a give away but, they giving their coin as free but with small task or we called it Campaign, you can choose like do with your social media, write on blog/web, or joined the telegram. it's useful for dev to make their coins promoted in free way, you got the coins dev got investor.
