Both is essential in order to gain more profit. The utility is necessary because thats how you can determine if the project is for long term and sustainable due to its use case.

However in order for this particular coin to become profitable, there should be hype that can create impact for it to become popular so investors will consider to invest.

On the other side, the coin that has no utility and relying alone in hype is risky and only profitable if you happen to join at an early stage then sell during ath.

Hype can push the price of the coin whenever they want, the community members of the coin will help the project and make a shill so that it is trending on social media and some investors are interested in investing in the coin.
Utility tokens are usually for funding new projects, if the developer has a project with good fundamentals then lots of people will want it, both look good but still all investments require research and I prefer coins that have a real product, with good community members, price will increase organically

If OP is looking at the problem based on Hype or Utility then I think you need to be more flexible in how you think about it. The influencing factors to stimulate the project are all ideal for that project, but in essence, the developer creates the product and attracts interested people, so I think Hype or Utility is not so important because of the purpose development purpose.
However, the cryptocurrency space has a lot more than just reaching people, so always be equipped with knowledge in the market and then apply it in practice to feel your point of view. This area needs user experience, not just thoughts without concrete actions.

I think both have the same impact in determining whether a project will be successful or not. utility makes a project hype . and the hype of a project is a good sign that a project will be successful. it's useless if a project is created and designed as useful as possible but there is no hype from crypto users.
such as meme coin example. in utility they don't have anything that really makes an impact. but because of the hype and viral can be very successful .

Just as you said, coins with utility are good for long-term while hyped coins are for short-term. When trading, I look out for coins with good hype and popularity when looking for quick gain. Once profit is made, I pull out and join the next hype.
However, it's only smart to invest in both as you can be sure to to fall back to something (coins with utility)

Of course utility is more important than just HYPE, HYPE is only for the short term and people are interested only because HYIP is not because of the product, HYIP is only temporary, while utility is attached to the product and the perceived benefits of the product that can make people interested in using it , it is more stable and can last a long time.

Some traders are definitely more on its utility case even if there is a long waiting game for the price to rise up. Yes, it may be less risk and more safe, but it will also take long for you to take the profits. That is why some smart traders prefer to have them both, its utility and hype. Because if you really know what you are doing, then you will know when to take advantage when there is hype and when to patiently wait for the profits you wish to have.

If it is about the investment I will choose the utility and fundamentals of the coins.

You have to balance things and know how to spot the hype and the best token with real purpose. In a market that hype is very normal, you can actually make a lot of money if you are able to ride the hype early. Though of course those utility token with a great purpose in the market can also rise, depends on their updates and services. For me, better to invest on both and know when you are going to buy and when you will take profit, being consistent is the key.

This is self-explanatory. It's like you asked me whether I like food or water. You go for hype when you only care about quick profits and high risks, you go for utility when you are in for the long term and probably trust the coin's future. Hype is usually disastrous while utility is a slow but sure builder of a strong asset.

When you do have sufficient knowledge and experience in the market then you would really be having the same insights just like
on what i have said.

You would need to play with the waves even though some people doesnt really like hypes but you could actually make money on that.

Investors are wise to choose utility.

But traders do take that advantage of hype and make a lot of money from it. So in that perspective, you've got to choose what type are you as a market player.

For me, I'm with utility as when I've been following the hype, I made losses instead.

When choosing a token, I try to buy on lows so I am focusing on utility, idea of a project, and team members as it is difficult to guess if this coin will be trendy or not, but actually I pay a lot of attention to marketing campaigns and community as well because it is also very important.

Token will not pump if it is just useful but is not popular with crypto participants. Wink

new coins must have hype. and old coins must have real utility or use cases. These are the basic steps for determining the coins you want to buy. and both things are equally important. hype and utility are two important things for a coin. and this also affects in determining the investment period. the hype is suitable for the short term. and coins with utility have long term potential.

Trader = Hype ( because Traders are usually looking for short-term profits, and hype usually doesn't last long )
Investor = Utility (Investors look at the future of the token, whether it has good utility and is useful for the future, after which investors are sure to make a profit.)

For me it should have both. WELL I also played some hype coin and I know when to exit or at least cut losses. But overall I preferred having a use case and when I see how useful it is. I generally bag some or ape on that. Some projects with amazing use case can pump anytime as soon as people started to noticed that.
