I think if you want to be most sure to not to loose your investment over a longer term, ripple would be the choice. My opinion.

I too hold bitcoin as my best bet but if we are talking about altcoins I guess the big bags are still out there doing the big work. Ethereum, Litecoin, Dash, Monero, hell even Doge, doge has almost infinite amount of coins but still rises in price time to time. I think these are the coins you should focus on instead of finding new coins and hope they will rise in price. That is a riskier way of making Money if at all.

If you ask me, just invest in the coins you truly believe in. Don't invest in a coin just because somebody tells you to do it

The majority of my crypto investments is in Dash, the main reason for it is because I think Evolution will make it easier for non-nerds to use crypto, and they have constant development. I also hold a good amount of NAVcoin, because they are working on some nice projects, the names of developers are publicly known, and they also focus on user experience (just like Dash).

The names of developers are well known. Ok that's one of the good reason why I should keep an altcoin. It makes sense, because  well known developers will hold their reputation.

Yeah, lets take Pivx for example. The reason I don't trust this coin is because the founders call themselves "s3v3n h4cks" and "Coin Server", their real names are unknown. This is one of the many things I look at before I invest my money in a cryptocurrency.

I think Iconomi, Darcrus and Komodo are good coins, to keep for the long run.
Iconomi is the best way to keep, iconomy has good prospects, many of my friends still keep their iconomi

To me the best altcoin to be kept is Ethereum. The PoS switch at the end of the year sounds to me like a great investment opportunity.

Even though the number of altcoins is increasing, the number of good coins is a constant Cheesy

no it's actually decreasing lol, some good coin are dying because they were not that good, now i see for good coin only ETH, Zcash, lbry, monero, vertcoin maybe, those are the big one, other need to do something if they want to be called good, and the best to keep for me is spreadcoin now, after the swap, 0.01 is possible

I can only tell which I am supporting or investing in,
Ripple
Stratis
ZCash
Decred

Apart from these, Eth and LTC may also prove to be good for long term.
How about dogecoin. The price is still low , I keep doge a lot hope the price at least reach $1 so I can make a lot of profit.

The number of altcoins increasing. There are tens of altcoins. All offer their specs. However, The altcoin users will think what the best altcoin to invest or to buy. In trading they can exchange anytime but my question is. What the best altcoin to be kept hoping that the price will sky rocket like bitcoin. When we keep the coin we will gain a lot of profit due to the rising or the price. What do you think and why ?

For you're looking for an altcoin that is profitable in the future you need to check each altcoins available and what they offer, its hard to predict which altcoins are good and bad. Fluctuation is always a part on the cryptocurrency but if you want to invest on something thats worth something. Try Eth if you want a long term investment and if you want to earn short term and bit by bits you can try XRB. Still you need to check every altcoin and keep updated if you want to invest.  Smiley I hope it helps,  Wink

as mention Eth already showing big potential to have good value in the long run if you can wait for every development that they are doing possibility to increase the value is not too long, i also looking for ltc and xrp as they are also in some deal with integration with businesses but like everyone said we should review every aspect of which coin we do desire to keep.

If you are a safe investor you could go to the top 5,
There are no "safe" word in trading even you're really carefully choose coins you would like to trade. Because anything could happened like dump and pump bot anytime.

if you are a whales then you can further stretch to the top 50 in the coinmarketcap,
Yes, but it needs really huge capital to reach that. If you only have 1 BTC and become whales, that's useless.

you can also invest in ico the risk is high but the profit is huge.
This one has high risk compared with trade in exchange, however with invest in promising road map also reputable escrow are the ways to filter those ICO right now or you might get scammed.

I doubt there will be any alt coin to keep for a long term, all of the alt coin seems like giving a big promises but in the end all of them can't be stable and usually become stagnant, like Litecoin or Eth which was claimed as the rival of bitcoin but in the end the result is not too good, keeping alt coin for long term is very risky, I suggest to just hold for short term

Sad to say but no one would really able to answer this question and all things have been said here is just pure speculation but still there are possibilities and we dont really like to get behind again just like missing the tradin with bitcoin back in the past.If someone could able to predict which coin would be next upon bitcoin then there are lots of people would invest to it. Im just basing on top altcoin on marketcap which i considered do have potentials.

Sadly, yes.
Well, I think it is not fully true. Three years ago we could say that the only fine coins are btc and ltc. Now we may add eth, byteball and probably monero to this list. The number is increasing and coins ought to become better not to lose on the market. I believe some very nice coin which is protected from inflation, has usefull wallet, fast transactions, smart contracts, able to resist attacks will appear some day and be added to this list.

many altcoin created , possibly also altcoin will take $ from bitcoin in this year, but does not affect the price of bitcoin to go down. there are several projects altcoin very legit, and has a good technology, not hurt to follow and buy altcoin and ico at the beginning of this year, possibly in 2018 will be a lot of businesses use cryptocurrency
