Yes its hard to choose what coins we can buy because many altcoin now. But do a research you can see how many supply of that coins. If that coins good to hold for a long trade or not.

Well there is so many altcoins now, and it seems others are good for profit like etc and ltc, theres no doubt that we can get a profit in any other coins but as for me still bitcoin is the best coin, its value are still going up and no one knows what will be its value in coming days, so better invest in it. Its really hard to say what is the best altcoin to pick for investment.however it would be better to pay close attention to the coin we choose before making a final decision,better to check there growth chart in coinmarket for the last 1-3 months and stay tune on any news, feature or update about them whether its good or bad, this will help us to make the right desicion.
I have much more faith in DGB as it can give the best returns in long term and yesterday its price was below 300 sats which today went up to 350 sats and in coming days it can go much higher so if you have faith in DGB then this is the best time to invest in it to get huge returns in next few weeks.

although there are a lot of altcoin by investing there you can make a good profit. but i think that if you want to make money and make more secure your position then you need to study the market on regular bases and through this way you can decrease the risk of losing money. 
I still think that it is bitcoin. Seems like all altcoins are crashing and that they don't have good future so you won't get profit from it. I would also avoid bitcoin cash, it might be worth to buy it but need to wait a little bit more and see what will happen with it and it's price.
Currently I still believe in some old coins to buy and I trade like eth, ltc, xrp, dash, so far I always use coins in my trading business. And I think this coin has good chance for long-term investment.

Buy bitcoin, there is a big chance of price rising of this coin in a fiew day. But there are still a lot of fluctuations every day. With bitcoin investments we don't need to worry, the best coin on the market. I think for new investors bitcoin is the safest coin, there are fluctuations but generally price is going up and in last year price is increased a lot, enough for every investor to be satisfied.
With new coins, and some old ones is hard to suggest any coin for purchasing. I like ltc and eth, and both coins have a future. Looks like a good coin to buy right now is Ethereum. Because at the end of September this year there will be hardfork again. And of course this will not damage the future of ETH blockchain but further increase the security of money belonging to the investor DAO which amount is not small the most vulnerable to hacking.Because it has dumped to base price 0.05x but recoveried very fast.
Check again Bitcoin in July has dumped like Ethereum to $1,800 before breakout $3,000 and increasing to $4,000 like today.
actually your question is really subjective, every traders have their own way analyzing movement of coins. But the most practical and safe buy is bitcoin, I think not all but most traders will agree to this. next is check the market, news, graphs, about the coins you want to buy. I have my own coins bought but I can't suggest or I don't want suggest because I don't want to be blamed hehe. Goodluck bro, I am also newbie with trading and still learning more 
If you want to buy and quickly resell that I will advise SAN. She bargains on Liqui and Bitfinex. Now I consider that good time to buy this coin and in the near time she will show a good height.
If you have good motive and have spare money to buy some best coin than its good deal to buy Waves, MGO, ADEX, LBC. Definitely would be a great pick, do it before you regreat.
