its Binance for me. Not just for alts alone but for all round service and satisfaction in key areas like this
1. It has an air tight security and even if there's some sort of hack (which financial platforms are always susceptible to), funds are safu.
2. Service fees for withdrawals on both eth and btc are cheap
3. The fact that one can now directly convert busd or btw to ones local currency as well as buy with his local currency makes Binance the most complete exchange for me

You said coinbase is best for beginners. But Coinbase not support in many Countries. Currently Binance is a best exchange. I like binance and kucoin exchange. Those are easy for beginners. These exchange are secured, trusted, great volume.

FWIW, after months of research (min 10 hrs/day!) - meaning, I registered and actually used a number of popular exchanges including their support to see how fast they get back to customer.

These 3 survived:

- Kraken
- Binance
- Bitpanda

I also tested their account closure and re-opening process to learn how they deal with it! A few was “easy” to reactivate my account - but most asked for legal proofs of identities etc which is nice to know your closed account wouldn’t be reopened “automagically” without your knowledge!!

Also, only a few followed up to understand why I decided to close my account which proves they actually care losing customers!

To be frank, hacking has reduced the confidence in most of these exchanges but what can be done, other than still using them but being extremely careful or better still keep all funds outside the exchange. Nevertheless, from my own experience, the best crypto exchange is Binance, not only can it be used for trading, but withdrawal of fiat is also supported (for most countries). Followed on my list is OKEx, Kucoin and Gate; at least they are better than majority of exchanges out there in terms of volume and so on.

Imo Kraken is the most user-friendly and stable platform.

The API though is too simple, you can't do alot. Just buy and sell.

I also have the feeling that many people choose the platform based on where there are from. In different countries different brokers are popular. Just like Viber and whatsApp

6+ months searching google for best-crypto-exchange 2020, they all sound like copy and paste from other sites and same contents from 2017!!

Still, I visited your site and took me less than 90 seconds to leave even more confused!

By no means free Ad for Kraken, but their support replied even before me click on send button!!

I have no further comment except personally I prefer to chat with folks around these forums to choose the “right” exchange.

So far, I can also go with the Binance exchange, and this the first exchange that I used when I started buying and trading different altcoins. Just what like others are saying, we have different tastes when it comes to the cryptocurrency exchange but mostly, we tend to find the cryptocurrency exchange that has a lot of great features and the platform that will secure all of your funds and coins. Actually, I always see new cryptocurrency exchanges on the internet but not all of them are capable of surviving because we know that some of them are scam exchange. For me, I can say that the best cryptocurrency exchange is the exchange that can provide all of the needs and wants of the investors and traders.

Also, in the end, we are the ones who will decide what exchange we will be going to use but always go with the trusted exchange.

If we are talking about some bitcoin exchange we have different bias because we already supporting their exchanges. From the previous months in the world of trading most of the time I used is the yobit and the coinbase. In yobit they have one of the most fastest exchange now and also they improve their another features but the problem is they don't have an application that is more convenient into their users most of them does not give a good review on their platform also one of the main problem on using the yobit is their customer service because it takes time and you must need to have a token so they will entertain you and this is not quite good for their users of this kind of quality. In coinbase they have a good exchange aso faster trading but the problem is they don't have candle stick some of us knows more to read the graph of candle sticks than the use of the movement only of the lines. For getting bias ill go for the coinbase for having a good condition of exchanges. Still it's up to you what's on your choice that is suitable for your needs to make more easier exchange.

Actually what is best crypto exchange depends on the user. I mean are you trying to hold your cypto or trade. As you said Coinbase for beginners. Bittrex, Binance, Bithumb, Hitbtc these are some exchanges for advanced trading. KYC isn't a big deal if you are clean. There are some exchanges that grow overnight & indulge with scam. I also got scammed by a exchange called "Cryptoa exchange". That doesn't even exist now. So, it's difficult to identify a fake or scam exchange.

I don’t see how it’s hard to find a good exchange. There is Google and you can make use of Google to search for the best exchanges , there are already lots of articles that talks about this and to be sincere I’m always surprised when I see newbies saying that they invested on an exchange and it turned out to be a scam exchange.

Is it that they don’t do their research first before they start making use of an exchange? Sometimes they will mention and exchange that I have never heard or seen all my life lol, and I wonder how they came across those kind of exchanges. If you search for the best cryptocurrency exchanges on Google, the search will bring up the most popular exchange such as Coinbase, Binance and others. People shouldn’t be making these mistakes.

Going by all the requirements you listed, i think binance is the only exchange that fits perfectly to be called the best exchange. Like the exchange is so good and they keep advancing everyday. No doubt, binance has experienced a security breach before but to be honest, their security is one of the best and again, they have a fund pool set aside call #SAFU to recover to users lost amount incass of any future breaches
