I would have said Metamask, due to its popularity and widespread adoption, but it can mess you up especially if you want to do a quick transaction. So I'm going with Binance wallet

I'm into PC / Desktop wallets than mobile so which Desktop wallet can you recommend to a newbie that supported ERC20 and BNB smart contract thank you.
Metamask is the best option for your description, they are also safe as long as you keep your seed phrase away to anyone, just learn how to use their wallet for your own safety.

I also recommend if you’re planning to invest big money, its always good to have a hard wallet, you choose if its Ledger or Trezor they are both good who provides the best security in crypto wallet.
Yes Metamask is a powerful wallet. You can use this wallet for your desktop. You can keep everything safe here. No one will be able to do any hacking unless you give the phase of this wallet to someone. So this Metamask can definitely use a lot for your desktop.

It doesn't matter whether that was a mobile wallet or desktop wallet. The main concern is about how will be your action to make sure your wallet will be safe. You can even use flash disk to store your token and it's safe as long as you are not doing something that can make your wallet can be hacked by the hackers. This means your action to your wallet is the thing that will determine how safe your wallet it. Mobile and desktop have its own disadvantage and in my opinion mobile wallet is more simple compared with pc and in my opinion if this time mobile wallet can use finger print or retina as a way to pass the security which was really safe but desktop wallet was also good as well with its two layer security.

I use Electrum for my BTC transactions and Metamask for my ETH and BNB transactions which is also available in my phone every time I needed to transact away from my pc. Anyway, I’m not holding big money on those wallets, I still prefer Ledger, a hard wallet that is more secured and safe to use. Newbies have to use the best wallet available in the market, you can invest on good wallet first.

If you want to use an online Wallet in your Desktop then you have many options to choose.I will prefer to use Metamask extension in your Desktop because it will be very easy to use and secured.
Metamask is the best desktop ERC20 wallet, the extension is very easy to install on chrome, it user interface is very friendly and easily navigable and not complex in outlook or usage, it's well secured I don't think it can easily be hacked.
Another desktop wallet I am conversant with is Electrum wallet though is mainly for hodling bitcoin and serve other purposes well e.g signing and verifying messages, it is also well secured and user friendly having been using wallet for a long time.

Don't give OP false assurance, you have no idea where he may have gone online with his desktop, it's possible that his pc has already been infected, would you be held liable for any  future lost and malware attack?
@Tamedbeast There are just a few open source wallets that support ERC20 tokens, it is safer to get a hardware wallet, since they are the most secure when compared to desktop and mobile wallets.

I've not heard about a trust wallet getting compromised before or am I wrong? Even if this wallet is a closed source I still trust it more than metamask wallet and coinomi wallet, the choice is yours OP just make sure you keep your private keys safe.
But there's no desktop app for Trust Wallet. Coinomi does have an issue before and a user's wallet got compromised for real so it doesn't matter whether it happened on desktop or phone app.
@OP, the best option for you if the main concern is the security is to use different wallet apps for each of the coin if you don't have the hardware wallet yet. It doesn't look handy but you're safe doing it.

Hello mate, First of all I would like to tell you that if you have a lot of money then you must buy a hardware wallet to be completely worry free. Hardware says you will be completely safe.
But trust wallet and metamax for BTC and Ethereum. I will suggest it to you from my side.

Seems OP already got a couple of best suggestions for the multi-chain wallet. And of course, Metamask would be the right choice. But still, I will prefer for good practice to buy a hardware wallet if you may afford it. Because it's quite important to secure your digital assets. Otherwise digital scammers and hackers. A hardware wallet is the most secure wallet for storing your cryptocurrency.

Electrum for BTC and MetaMask for ETH/BNB/ERC20/BEP20.

Obviously, if you're holding a good amount of money and you don't want to get hacked, buy a hardware wallet.

Metamask even supports almost all Old networks up to some New networks and ETH L2 Networks.
Addon application that must be installed to manage Wallet on the desktop. MetaMask's strengths also provide easy access to the world of Ethereum DApps, thanks to its easy setup and availability on both desktop and mobile platforms. It's hard to imagine how the decentralized financial sector (DeFi) would have grown this far if it weren't for MetaMask.

For other swallow hardware that is mandatory to have is Safepal, a hardware wallet that is quite complete in features and supports all networks and has many airdrops for hardware wallet holders.

Do not use coinomi on desktop, if you can search for coinomi scam online you will see people complaining about losing coins on coinomi wallet for PC, I don't recommend that wallet at all either mobile or PC.

If you want a wallet only for ERC20 (ethereum tokens) and BEP20 (binance smart chain tokens), MetaMask may be a good option for you.
On desktop, you can install its extension on Chrome or Firefox browser.

As Metamask is open-source, I think it's better than close-source wallets like Coinomi and Exodus.
Note that MetaMask is a hot wallet and it's not recommended to use it for big amounts. As mentioned by Lucius, if you want more security, you should use a hardware wallet.

This is a utility that many new developers aren't looking into, they are so busy creating and copying old use cases, open source wallets on smartphones that are multi chain are so limited.

When it comes to the desktop multi-currency wallets, most users opt for Coinomi or Exodus, so I would recommend you to try both and see which one suits your needs better. What many will cite as the downside of these wallets is that they are not open source, but considering that they are free wallets, this is a risk you have to accept.

If you want a higher level of security, you need a hardware wallet - Trezor supports what you need and it is open source.
