YOu can either use paper wallet or hardware wallet like trezor to store your bitcoin for long term but if you can't buy or can't wait till trezor get delivered to you. Just use paper wallet, you can generate one from bitaddress.org (use their github file) in offline computer.

If you are talking about DGB, you can buy it from poloniex.

Just put your cryptocurrencies into sites or wallets that you have the control to your private keys so you will not face any kind of problem in the future. Most of the times wallets now are open-source and also give chance to its users to control their private keys so you will not experience such a hassle to find good wallets to store your cryptocurrencies.

I am about to buy 1 BTC. I need to know the best way to store it and also some insight into doing it. Thanks. Also where can I buy digibyte it's at a real low right now might invest a cheeky 50 and just hold it forever

I do not think it should be too much. if you are going to keep some bitcoin in a long time you just use the blockchain wallet in your funds to be stored safely. Just use a security touch like 2fa or code. It will connect to your phone number, and simply backup your blockchain data in your personal storage, I have been storing my bitcoin in blockchain for many years and safe until now.

beware of your keys.
Paper wallet... Print, laminate 2 or 3 copies and store in different places. My problem with these hard wallets is that they can only be stored in one place. If something happens, e.g house burns down. Then you are screwed.

buy a fire evident physical coin to store your funds instead, then even if your house went on fire and burned up, your coins would remain safe. it is still preferable to have a requirement of combining 2 or 3 addresses in order to reveal the actual address you have stored bitcoin in.

If you can, I highly recommend you to buy a hardware wallet, mainly if you are planning to store big amounts of Bitcoin in there.
Here are the most recommended ones:

https://trezor.io
https://www.ledgerwallet.com
https://www.keepkey.com

If you can't, don't want or don't have the time to buy one hardware wallet, you should use an offline wallet like:

Electrum - https://electrum.org (recommended)
Bitcoin Core - https://bitcoin.org/en/bitcoin-core/ (may take some time to sync with the blockchain and will use a lot of space on your hard drive)

Never store your Bitcoins in a web wallet. Preferably use your wallet in a isolated device not connected to the internet if you want to be 100% safe. Or if you think that's too overkill, just make sure your computer isn't infected with any virus that may steal your Bitcoins.

This is quite expensive in opinion but it is also worth it. It is even more worthy if you have thousands or even millions of dollars value of coins. For me for the meantime, i am using electrum wallet. I just see to it that I have may backup of my private keys for safekeeping.

the best and the fastest for me is to simply store the wallet.dat in a usb stick, and put it in a safe place, then buy many of those usb just in case one of them will broke you never know

and store your bitcoin in multiple part of 0.1 maybe with multiple wallet, you can them load safely on any machine, at worst only 0.1 will be lost

If you don't plan to transact often, the best way to hold your bitcoins would be in cold storage. A light weight client which supports cold storage is Electrum. Read this to find out about cold storage using electrum.
