Hello, we are working on migration details at the moment. The source code for migration details aren't public for security reasons. Thanks but we're trying to be as thorough as possible for the sake of the community and the rich history that have been collected on this forum.

Millions went to this project, while there is no product. just github files keep getting updated from day to day to kill time.
GitHub files aren't updated to kill time. If you look at the commits, every commit message has some information along with it which explains what exactly the files are updated for. What scares me is, the last commit  was around July 7th https://github.com/epochtalk/epochtalk/pull/457/commits/91599ad083e33fc0314628fdae9c88f297894760 and not sure if the website is being actively developed.

I mean, activity definitely seems low. But looking at dev history, there may be private repos they are working on.

IF Epoch (the database layer) is related to EpochTalk (which I'm assuming it would be) the last commit wasn't July. It was commited to 12 days ago.

Should have just given that money to developers from back home, with that money you could get a professional team and keep everyone fed here for more than a year for a month's worth of pay lol

Fair enough, I saw multiple commits to private repo's so thats what i assumed (something more sensitive/specific to BitcoinTalk)

What will the transition be like? Will all accounts and account history just transfer over?

Also it will still be free right? Hope so..

It's good that something is being worked on I do look forward to a new bitcointalk forum, long overdue but at the same time I remember reading about several stories of dev accounts getting hacked and alot of private information/keys getting stolen from private messages, DDOS attacks also been problems in the past so makes sense they are taking their time.

Yes, you're correct. The last commit was indeed 13 days ago...I don't know what's stopping theymos from getting it done for just once and then migrate to the new forum completely. Looking at the new developments coming to this forum, I doubt he's planned a release anytime soon.

Theymos is doing what many other successful people do, before their projects collpase.

He is attempting to do everything himself, because he feels that is the best way.

This forum is his baby - you can't blame him for being protective.

Yeah, right. But I don't think it will be out next year. Maybe in the year 2020 or 2022 will be the biggest possibility of the launching of epochtalk.
I wish that this one's gonna be perfect for all of us, besides we're the ones who'll gonna run it.
And sooner or later BCT will be on the history as satoshi does.

R u obtuse or simply a certified asshole?

Can u even read a single commit on GitHub?

It is hilarious to what lengths you go for merit hunting.

It seems close but far away at the same time. The forum is being developed since 2015 and the GitHub page doesn't have too many commits[1]. But the project isn't completely dead. For example, the merit system is something new and they build something similar for the new software[2], so they still didn't give up. I expect it to be out next year (hopefully).

what is the status of the new forum software when will it go live?
As for theymos, it doesn't have any updates for now.
I think it will still take a little longer before it is published.
They're doing their best to provide us better environment in which spammers can't be spoiled. And also to give us a suitable place in which good posters/ authors can give and collaborate with their ideas really well to each and everyone else.

I read his posts quite often (theymos) and hadn't seen that, OgNasty might be right and he was referring to the current forum. He's likely the only one making changes to the current code. I'll take a look at his posts later on today and see if I can find it as I certainly wasn't aware of it.

This is what I was referring to.  He could be referring to the current forum...

If I had more manpower, then I would prioritize maintaining our own DDoS protection, but with me as the only sysadmin and current-software developer, it's become unsustainable.

Edit:  Found the one where Theymos was spending $100k a month, but haven't found the one where he says he is the only person currently working on the software.

I think any statement saying theymos was the only person working on the forum software would have been in the context of the current SMF forum.

Theymos posted a while ago that he was pretty well the only working on the forum software now.  :/

He spent the million at the rate of $100k per month for four developers.

can you share the source of this?

If I was able to easily identify the source, I would have posted it.  :/

In the interest of SEO, if someone can find and link the posts to back up my two statements, I will award merit for contribution.

Yeah, that's Slickage's $100k monthly fee. The amounts aren't exact, though. I send approximately the correct amount to an intermediate wallet of my own, and then it gets sent to Slickage via Coinbase.

They are still actively working on the project and responding to any suggestions from the community from time to time. Have you worked on a forum the size and scale of epochtalk? Especially the security side of things, that cannot be rushed.
