It seems like they've started to copy & paste other people's posts now so that people have a chance of falling for it and replying to the threads.

They post in both Bitcoin Discussion and Mining now, I believe something needs to be done...

I never said that I'm on the forums for that long. The reports page is put on refresh while I'm doing my work on my system (which takes up most of my day).

Well people were asking about being patroller specifically for handling these spam threads, seems like a fair estimate, considering Mitchell and you were made Section moderators(a bit different from the regular patrollers , AFAIK), and you were "needed" at the right time and had the "devotion" .
That's true, however ATM there is 0 need for anyone. There is only a small lack of moderation sometimes but it's a specific 2 hours (way early in the morning for Europe).

You must've missed the news, I'm an alt of QS, of which 99% of the forum members, are alts. Theymos' belongs to the same "Alt group".
Oh yeah, I've forgotten about that one.

Both Mitchell and me have well under 1000, and have had even less when we joined the staff.

I also think that your average range is wrong, but that would have to be confirmed by theymos.
Pretty much many guys have around that number(AFAIK), specifically the ones who know what the feature is even for.
but that would have to be confirmed by theymos.

I know Sho has 7k, cyrus(Patroller/section-moderator) has pretty much over 15k(can't remember, pruned all my messages  Undecided ). Over 10k(accuracy matters too) should get you pretty well noticed. 1-2k , I'd say, is pretty much the average of people who regularly report.
Both Mitchell and me have well under 1000, and have had even less when we joined the staff. So technically the statement is wrong (depending on what you mean by noticed). I also think that your average range is wrong, but that would have to be confirmed by theymos. It's been a long time since he has updated the list of people with the most amount of reports.

I think we need one or two temporary moderators who can only nuke newbies and delete newbie posts, whoever is spamming seem to be intensifying their efforts
We don't. If you are seeing an increase in the number of posts that haven't been handled or the time until they get handled it is because my activity has gone down. I'm quite busy ATM; before I was handling the spam ~16hours a day.

There's plenty of patrollers and most of them have nothing to do half of the time. If you want to be a mod keep on reporting as there are users with several thousands of posts reported and they'll likely be at the top of the que.

How many is several?  Grin

Only an admin could give you the right answer to that. However it is obvious that the number of those users is going to be growing as time passes.

temporary moderators who can only nuke newbies and delete newbie posts,
They already exist and are known as patrollers. Here is the answer for that.

There's plenty of patrollers and most of them have nothing to do half of the time.

I've reported probably 300 in the last week.
I probably would have too, but for the 2,129 users on my ignore list whose asinine posts I don't normally see and therefore don't report. How do you not go insane?

I know that it's considered bad style to apply for a moderator position, but if you're looking for yet another patroller, I'm available Smiley
Reported a bit over 400 posts, 100% acceptance.
I'm fairly liberal regarding forum posts, reporting only clear spam (this NotLambChop bot-generated spams, and occasional spamvertisements that are clearly unrelated to crypto currencies). This wouldn't change if I had the power to just delete posts instead of reporting them.

I have 992 reports, 99% accurate. Soon I'll have more reports than activity. I like buttons too.

I just hit 99% accurate the other day myself.

We get email notification of each report, so yes it is our actual inbox...
I believe most of the email service offer Labelling your emails, so shouldn't be more than a bit of annoyance.
There is no need to report posts when they're so obviously spam unless they sit around unnoticed for hours
I'd say 10-15 mins+ is when someone should report, higher than that, with the speed of at least 4 threads per min, I believe in an hour pretty huge spam would've been created. And well, prevention is better than cure

My inbox is exploding with reports. I'm getting hundreds each day.
How many of them are mine? Not bothering with it anymore though, unless its morning when you have to "remind" the patrollers.
@OP this has been discussed more than 6 times by now, one example
Yeah... I actually posted it in the Mining section... and created even more work for -ck because he had to move it over here.  Sorry Con!

I won't bother to remind the mods as it looks like too many of us are doing that.
Wouldn't be quite sure on that one, I've been reporting them for weeks by now and more or less more than 400 reports(about 1/8th of my report count) are just those threads. And I've seen that most of those threads are deleted after 10-15 mins in the morning as opposed to 1-2 mins in the Afternoon when most mods, including patrollers are online. In the morning, patrollers don't often repeatedly check the board/patrol page and it has been recommended by many patrollers to report them when no action is taken soon
Edit:
I believe that your inbox for PMs are different then where reports are sent to.
Yup, I can tell its the same as it is in the normal SMF forums
