When going to buy the tokens for any upcoming ICO means will go for checking the white paper release about it. If choose too alts I will check the marketplace supply, value, growth with the price dashboard before I go for investing towards it.
Price can be reason to buy it but if you for the cheap coins with the high potential in future you make profit.

For me it's:
- Idea
- Team
- Ability to generate revenue

The last one is important because the ICO money will not last forever so they need to be able to generate revenue at least in the medium term. People often seem to overlook this but your token will be worthless if the company behind it runs out of money.

My 3 lists that I take care;

1. Team. Their individual history, projects they acvieved. Last status of those projects.
2. Investors. Who are the backers of those project. Which other projects those investors backed before.
3. Marketing Strategy. How the team plan to reach investors to attract funding.

Here's my factor need to be considered before try to invest in the ico or try to buy at the pre sale of the project itself.
1 team
2 history
3 code
4 community
5 press
6 feedback from the community about the project.
The best project is not just only try to improve the existing code or platform but just try to find the new solution.

I don't care if a lot of people talk about a certain currency but i do defintely care about the product. For example: OmiseGo has a pretty good product in my opinion. Second point is the marketcap. If a coin is not at least within the top 20 at conmarketcamp then i'm sceptical about it. then i want to see a good team standing behind the product. And last but not least i'm interested in the chart. I use RSA and Stochaistics to decide whether a coin is overbought or not. If not then i go for it.

As I am looking for technological sound coins and don't want to just trade for profit:

- Technological soundness/viability = is it something that is really needed in this world or just fancy gimmicky without proper real world use
- Ideological and not profit/greed driven developers that have a pragmatic approach, so no premine/instamine, no ICO, no hype
- Open source/Community driven

Sadly, only few coins get a pass after considering these 3 factors

It depends what you want to do ?
Are you here 100% for the money ? Then, in that case, you don't care of the project, you just look the good parameters, to check the potential of a coin (volume, marketcap, roadmap, mathematical trend... etc)
If you are a bit interested in the project of a coin, and in long term investment, you should check the social network of the project, to see if they are active, then, their website. Then you'll have to read their whitepaper to check the strenght of it, and then, go with your heart.

For me, I firstly look at the project parteners, when you see a project backed by big companies, it supposed to be promising, then I look at the team past experience, and finally I look at the community and how many people are interested in this project.

The main factor is project and i consider following aspects of a project , is the project innovative ? Segment of the market they are targeting, and market cap of that ICO.
After that I look at the team, and if the team is competitive and expert then i buy that currency.

Trying to create another ETH type coin is also an old idea.

The block-chain has thousands of uses. Its the IDEA that is the most important thing in my opinion.

Another major factor is market cap of the crytocurrency during it ICO and also the country where the project was initiated and executed motivate me to buy the cryptocurrency,all thou the country is a minor factor.

I think the development team have to be dedicated and be prepared for the long haul,
This also means dedicated to a realistic road map set out from the start rather than an
after thought.

The product of the ico has to be viable although i suppose anything is possible and viable.

Which is where the community plays its role!

I choose the alternative coins to be traded because the factors fundamental of alternative coins
1. Many people have invested in the alternative coins be signed by the capitalization of market can be checked on here https://coinmarketcap.com/ so even the price of coins went down, if it has large of money I don't fear to hold for long term investment.
2. The innovation of developers team and the community of alternative coins, it is important for me especially to invest in the alternative coins for long term, as long as the developers and community are active to build the coins it is good coins.
3. Due diligence, I always used results of my analysis of the coins before practice on the alternative coins ( usually invested in the ICOs projects).

My list in terms of what to be consider in buying or investing in such coin
1. It must be on the top 30 in the market capitalization list, it is obvious that this top 30 has a strong foundation in the digital currency not all of the but most of them have a great potential.
2. the integrity and credibility of the people who behind it, because most of them have the purpose to scam people so we need a credible people behind it.
3. The market cost of the coins, you have to be smart on this as some coins will promote a promising price. A extensive research must be done before investing or buying some coins because the main point of the digital currency is being decentralized.
