current situation:
Been mining for about a month now on a rig I built for only about $750 that gets 1Ghash/sec running on Ubuntu (3x 5850 cards overclocked to 870MHZ).  I have sold an item for 17BTC, and I have cashed out 13BTC at MTGOX.  Right now I have 72BTC in my wallet, and another 9BTC in deepbit.  My miner is set up in the basement of a friend's house who gets subsidized electricity, so my electricity cost is $0.  I administer everything remotely over SSH, and have written all custom scripts which keeps things running smooth.  I wish I would have set up 2 of these machines, but may still set up another soon.
I'm going to start "playing the market" a little also in addition to mining.

Mining at ~0.7BTC/day. Not a huge amount, but I already had the hardware and I get free electricity, so it's pure profit  Cool

Did any heavy duty minors move into an apartment with utilities included? lol

No idea, but I'm in student accommodation for the next month, so I'm mining 24/7 until then. Just wish I could afford more hardware to take advantage of it.

I'm lookin for bargains with the drop. I have always bought during a drop and I have yet to loose a penny. Down markets don't have to be a downer.

I wouldn't at these levels...but are there easy ways to short bitcoins right now. I know I've seen mention of options and such and that tradehill should have an options market in the near future.

to be honest i think as soon as money drops into market on monday again, the first will get a great chance to buy some really really cheap coins. furthermore is believe this will bring us back to last weeks values. imho increasing prices for monday are predictable. -so why shouldn't those with money on its' way to the dealers wait any longer than monday?

Back before Bitcoins were cool some guy was giving 5 bitcoins away to anyone who applied for them. I got my five coins and then forgot about them until recently. I haven't got enough money to invest properly so I'm just waiting until they're worth millions Cheesy

I'm also waiting to get in the game. My bank transfer to Dwolla is pending, I guess it won't go through until Monday now. Does anyone know how long a transfer from Dwolla to TradeHill will take? A few hours?

I just setup a dwolla account today so need to first wait for them to make 2 small deposits to verify my bank account. So I probably got several more days before I can do any trading. Hoping it doesn't have a huge bounce/rally back over $20 or $25 before I can get some.

Same... just agonizingly watching the market drop like a rock, then climb, then drop like a rock... though apparently it does this every week, so there will be some action later for me, but I want to get in tonight

Yea...I of course don't plan on going 'all in' all at once. Segment my buying and average down if necessary. Under $12 currently looks like a great spot to make the first buy though. Then buy another block around $10.50. Maybe more at like $10.05. Then if $10 were to fall play it by ear :p

so many of us would have liked to take the bitcoins off the hands of the panic sellers today at this great discount, but have been waiting most of the week for money to get into the system.

I am 'noob', i bought in well below 1$, I have invested 30+ hours making bitcoin videos, and 500+ hours studying bitcoin and related fields since I first learned about it 5 months ago. Oh, and censorship disgusts me.

Without careful attention people will always become what they claim to hate.

When I saw the price falling I tried to post in the MtGox cash for USD thread, because my bank won't even be accepted until Monday, and then a couple more days to get the funds in the account, and I damn well knew that the price wouldn't last...

I'm not in US so transfering money is difficult in the inmediate but I would love to so as to Buy some. Thow I believe it will that a reasonable price for a stormy bitcoin situation is about 9us. I'm absolutely sure Bitcoins are a good investment because is a solid proyect but I guess this fluctation will have bad media for some time. This might afect future pricing too thow big speculators might have gone by then.

I got a few bitcoins several weeks ago, but I am offering actual tangible goods for them also, Like the Alpaca Sock fellow does. The goal of bitcoin is adoption into the masses, not only profit by investment, and I'm just doing my little part.
