I can't really remember well what my age was at that time, but my first ever gamble was in a carnival (except for those friendly betting games in school when we were children). I remember playing the color cube game, in which you need to bet on a certain color, and if those color cubes are the same color you bet on, you will double your money. It was fun at first as I was winning, but later on I lost. It was so addicting to me that every after school I would go there to gamble. After a few weeks, they are gone as they need to transfer to another place, which forced me to stop playing.
Laughing... you were lucky that they relocated, who knows if you would have been a big addict by now. Because loving gambling from childhood is a clear sign of addiction.
But when they left your school, how or when did you find another place to gamble. And did you enjoy the second place of gambling and do you enjoy gambling till date?

I'll tell you mine. I was 16 on a Royal Caribbean cruise with my parents. I took $10 from dads wallet and went out on the town  Wink I stopped into the casino on deck, worked that $10 in to a $20 in the coin machine. Then I went to the roulette table and doubled my money 3 times and got up to $160, then I bet it all on black and lost it all! Or wait, was it red? Oh I don't remember hahah. They did come around and bring me plenty of drinks. Luckily I looked old enough to be in there, was even 6 feet tall back then, athletic, football player. I made the cut. Fun times! Learned a very valuable lesson there though. This is why I don't gamble. What's a good gambling story that you'd like to share? Hit the comments section! Thanks guys.

It is not my earliest story but is the best that have happened to me so far.I was going to the offline casinos back in 2005-2007 as the online ones were not mainstream and crypto didn't even exist at those times.I had this habit to go every weekend and play till late night as I was single and not married back then,I used to lose a lot of times but one lucky day for me and not the person standing near me came. The slots were like 8 of the same kind in a form of a circle where everyone up to 8 person could be playing, this guy spent a lot and I mean a lot of money while we were playing simultaneously and soon after the slot place I was playing gave me that maximum jackpot of the slot back then of 20.000 dollars and this guy was shocked,I felt sorry for him but it was my night back then, took the money and got home.

Our earliest gambling story always sounds like an adventure. We remember doing it not for the wins but for the thrill of it. Maybe peer pressure because we did not want to be the odd one left out when our buddies discussed or banter about their bet. In the place where I live, most persons remember their earliest gambling story not in a brick and mortar casino, not in an online casino but in a corner shop bet shop. We went there as 17year olds. It was more about camaraderie than about winning. Then, we used our limited pocket money($20). And we split it, because we would rather buy fancy sunglasses, cheap wristwatches, to impress the girls than gamble.

From your story, you seem greedy to get a bigger win even though you have already managed to get $ 160. You should stop when you have won that much money and not continue gambling. I'm sure the casino will not stay silent, seeing you can succeed in getting a lot of money and will prevent you from getting more money and it finally proved. You have lost.

I remember I played gambling not in the casino but at my friend's house by playing cards together. Maybe it's not gambling but we use money when playing cards to see who is really an expert among us. The result of the game I lost but a friend who managed to win all the money bought food and drinks for all of us.

I still smile when I think about the day when I went on holiday with my family to an expensive Casino & Hotel that we could actually not afford on our income.. but we needed the break..so we forked out the money for it.

I played on some coin operated slots, but it did not want to pay... so I ordered a few drinks and just watched other people play. I noticed that one slot paid out regularly on a set pattern... and I waited for people to fill it.... and when they left.. I jumped and played on it ..until it paid out enough winnings to pay for our whole holiday.  Grin

I was in high school. I had a friend that was a complete addict. We were betting on sports. Everyday we were doing our research by reading the sports news in the morning and then place our bets during the lunch break. I was winning some and losing some. Then I had a bad run  and I started to lose a lot. I realized that I was losing money instead of making money and I started to gamble less. My friend however, kept playing even though he wasn't doing good too. One day he hit the jackpot. He won the big prize. A week later he bought himself a nice car, left the school and I have never seen or heard from him again.

As a gambler for a long, I can't recall when is the first time I engage in gambling or what's the earliest story I can share here.

Honestly speaking, even with no money at risk, there is a form of gambling here way back in my childhood days when playing cards was at stake. Eventually while growing up, slowly engaged in gambling with real money at risk and the rest of history.

Surely, those who still remember their earliest gambling story aren't that typical gambler. Or am I wrong here? Smiley

this thread reminds me of the bad times when I first started gambling.
In the past, when I was 13 years old, I became a very naughty boy when I saw my father gambling at the poker table and I saw my father win the game. after that when my father came home I was taking a shower I secretly took the money in his bag about $ 50 and after that I went to the market.
at that time, in my country, gambling was not yet strictly prohibited and in several places, such as markets and other places, there were slot machine games. well in I went to the market and exchanged my money into coins to play Slot machines. some time I continued to play almost to the end of the money I held and in the end I lost.
at that time I didn't like being beaten by a slot machine and after that I tried to see under the slot machine there were a few coins and I took them. but when I picked up the coins that fell I saw a hole and I tried to put my finger in the hole and I found out it was a slot machine coin storage hole.
and in the end, when it was quiet, I continued to play using my friend's money, but while I was squatting, I took a coin under the slot machine in that hole. and after the game is over i trade those coins up to $300 (so crazy i am). and this is not the result of winning on a slot machine but stealing from the slot machine's bottom hole Cheesy

This takes me back, my very first experience with gambling was decades ago when video game arcades were everywhere, if someone was good at a particular arcade they literally camped there and waited for anyone else to begin to play the video game.

They will watch you and evaluate your skill and if they thought they could beat you they will simply challenge you to a bet, if you did not accepted then not only they will defeat you but anytime you wanted to play at that arcade they will challenge you and not let you play at all until you accepted the bet, this was closer to extortion than a bet as almost no one could beat them, but in one of the fondest memories of my childhood I was able to beat one of those players at my favorite video game several times, so from that moment on not only I could play at my favorite arcade whenever I wanted but I even earned some money out of it.

Earliest gambling story, I guess it all starts around the circle of your friend, when you're watching your favourite sport. I remember betting around $20 for the Lakers against the Orland Magic in 2009, I my memory serves me right, it was the game 4 of the Finals. We pooled our money together to place a bet to someone inside a sports bar. That was actually crazy, coz that $20 I've got is part of my tuition fee back in college.
That was the betting experience that me and my friends made and call it "double the risk, double the fun and the reward".

P.s I was turning 20 during that time, so yeah I'm in a legal age to enter a bar and place a bet of course lol.

My first casual gambling was with my friends in primary school. A friend had cards and taught us to play poker. We didn't have any money so we broke up a match box and divided matches equally among players. After a few games I got good enough to hold the biggest pile of matches at the end. We had so much fun when there was no money on the line.

My first real gambling experience was when we started betting on football matches. We'd put our money together on one team and then buy some beers and go watch the match together.

Ehhh this is a good question. I think it all depends on what type of gambling we are talking about. I started playing poker ( or texas hold'em to be more specific) when I was like 18 years old or so and we of course bet money.  I think my first casino experience was when I was around 18-19 and it was on a river boat lol.

My main first bet though was a super bowl where I bet like 100 bucks on it using an online casino.  Then I found out that when you cash out, you get sent checks and they look shady and take forever to come.  When I found out they started offering bitcoin as a payment option..game changer!

One of my most rememberable early gambling story was when I was getting into gambling newly, a friend of mine came in with a bet slip where he won over $300 converted into my lovalm currency and Immediately I got the news, I went straight to the same casino and went to do a random bet and fortunately for me , I won something very little but was the very first time in my life that I could remember that I truly wanted what was someone's own but that doesn't mean I was envious but I truly wished it was me that did the winning because I was making losses without any win not until the day I went to the same casino he staked his games and I aso won something same day.

The earliest bet I made was at the end of elementary school, in a World Cup's match. Each student who accepted participating the betting pool should give 0,40$ to place a guess (it should be exact final score, not only guessing the winner). Some have accepted the deal, but money wasn't collected in advance. So, after the match only one student (lucky guy) matched the correct result and won the full prize, although at least one of the class mates didn't bring the money, as previously agreed, as far as I remember.

In my country casinos and gambling are prohibited, so I didn't have much contact with them early on.

But, I remember very well an afternoon I spent in the company of my uncle and my father... we were in a bar, with many pool tables, foosball, and there was also a "video game" with hypnotizing flashing lights Cool

I pestered my dad a lot to play there, I think I was like 12, and then he finally bought me some coins.
I confess that I was quite frustrated, because the toy seemed to be interesting, but it was very boring, I couldn't understand how to "play" and quickly my chips ran out.

I never saw that machine again, I think the police seized it, and it took me a few years to understand what a slot machine was.

The earliest time is around 10 years ago, when I was still a student I used to hang around internet cafes and play a lot of games, eventually I got good at one of the games and I was recruited to play a stake match and it involved several students as they placed their money on us to win the match. I still can't forget that first experience since I felt tense and I couldn't keep myself calm when there was a lot of money on the line it's actually not a lot though mostly it's just saved up lunch money.

My earliest gambling story is not with casinos. I cannot recall the exact moment but it must have been at school back in the elementary days when we were 7 or 8 or around that. We used to play with our pocket money. We had coins and they were supposed to be for buying snacks during recess, but we gambled them. Games like tossing your coin to an opponents coin near enough to be reached by the middle finger and the thumb of one of your hands, or bouncing your coin to a wall with the same goal, and some others were the usual games.

My mom would usually let me bring food rather than money-- pancakes, sandwich, biscuits, banana, or whatever. But we had a small store back then and I took some coins from the cash box, so I still had money. But they weren't all for gambling. I also bought food with it.

Mine was as early as Kinder or 1st grade if I'm not mistaken but not in a traditional casino. It is just within our community/neighborhood and it's quite common in our country to see a kid doing gambling at that age. Doing flipcoin even in school during break time or before classes in start in Elementary is very common among boys. Most probably, part of our culture.

Your story looks more like an adventure to me with so regret of which you would have gone with the $160 you made which you would have used it for something else. Your confidence of playing different kind of games to win .more money makes you to loss all your earning in a single seating. That's a lesson to everyone of us to always leave gambling whenever we win a big money or double our Capital. This had also happen to me before making so much money in different bets I played that particular day.
I ended up losing everything thing because of greed. Greed is one of the major problems of gamblers.
