What kind of rig can I build which can get 10,000khashes or more?

Btc is on a roller coaster ride, but like most roller coasters is will likely end lower than the peaks. My guess is about $35 in a few weeks, but I could be wrong.

That said, no, it is not possible to build a single gpu rig that will put out 10000mhash.

Your options are:
1) buy some fpgas, small, low power. Stick a bunch in a corner and you're good. High cost (10000mhash would cost about 10000 dollars), and hard to find.
2) buy multiple gpu rigs, the cheaper the card the more rigs you need (5830s can be found for 90 dollars or less, but you would need about 32 cards; 7970s cost 400+ dollars but you only need about 15). Easy to find, medium cost, could be done More in the neighborhood of 7000 dollars.
3) buy Asics, total crapshoot. People bought in months ago and still have nothing to show for it. You might get it soon you might get it next year. Super cheap in comparison. prices in the vicinity of $500.

So I would need approximately 5 boxes which can contain 5x5870s? It's not possible to do it in one box but instead I have to basically create a type of miner farm setup where I have 5 boxes running together? Each would cost $2000?

So that would be $10,000 at least? This sounds like a lot of money but the way BTC was pumped up just a few weeks ago it's actually not that much.

As others have mentioned, 10 Mh/s (LTC) for under $5k won't work.

10 Mh/s is about the power of 17 HD 7950s (at their average expected hash rate of 600 kh/s each), which cost about $300 each, so you're looking at $5100 just for the graphics cards.

You would need at least 3 motherboards, 3 CPUs, 6 PSUs, 3 flash drives, 17 risers, and 3 milk crates, in addition to the GPUs. Plus shipping, and potentially taxes. So, another $900, give or take. Note that getting more than three or four GPUs working on a single motherboard takes will require research to figure out exactly which components will definitely work, etc. It's easier to do if you limit yourself to 3 GPUs per motherboard, but that'll increase the cost another few hundred dollars.

$5k won't work, but $6k-$6.5k will do the trick. Or you could drop your target down to 8.4 Mh/s, which you might be able to get done for around $5k.
