Hmm. I don’t think Bitcoin “stands out from others”. Why would you have to stand out when you are the ORIGINAL and the one that everyone tries to copy?

Bitcoin is the first decentralized cryptocurrency and is the most successful one. It has the highest marketcap and is the one most commonly traded even until now. Launched in 2009 but ever since then its value kept rising despite volatility and price fluctuations.

If anything other altcoins should be the one trying to make themselves stand out from the hundred altcoins out there and step out of the shadow of bitcoin.

It could be fixed without big drama because it was early, today if this would happen it would collapse Bitcoin.

The difference is, Bitcoin has real life use case while most of altcoins didn't.

Other coins that has use case is Monero, it's used for anonymity. But it can't be popular because every centralized entity are against Monero.

Aside from decentralization, Bitcoin was never been hacked, unlike other coins.

Think of Bitcoin as digital gold, and that settles the argument. I’m not against altcoins, but if you check the scam rates in the altcoin market, you’d be shocked, it’s way too high. That’s exactly why Bitcoin earns more trust over altcoins. And let’s not forget, the word "altcoin" literally comes from "alternative." Altcoins only exist because of Bitcoin. Without Bitcoin paving the way, there wouldn’t even be altcoins to talk about.

I remember we have discussed this many times before and you should have no trouble finding the answer to your question if you take the time to search first. Also, if you take the time to read about the white paper and what satoshi's real purpose was in creating bitcoin, you will know the difference between it and the rest of the market.

By the way, bitcoin has become a topic of interest and attracted more world attention than any other coin on the market in the past 15 years, not just recently.

Bitcoin stand out because it is decentralized. It is also what people are going for, making it to have a dominance of almost 60%. The only coin that have over a trillion dollar market cap. The coin that people around the world prefer to adopt. Having no known creator which makes it to look natural unlike the altcoins that has known creators.

New? Nothing... Bitcoin wasn't exactly the first try at digital cash, but it was the first one i consider to be successful. Because it was the first successful one, it has the most miners, the most users and the highest market cap.
It's because of the POW algo and the vast amount of miners that bitcoin is secure, because of the widest adaptation the market cap is the highest.

But different from altcoins? Nothing, i guess? Even the first altcoin (litecoin) is just a slightly changed clone of bitcoin. It has a shorter average time between blocks, and they created a different POW algo, but the rest is *allmost* a carbon copy.
There are tons of other altcoins out there that are *allmost* carbon copy's aswell, so i guess there is nothing really different between bitcoin and these alts, except the sheer amount of miners and users.
