Seriously install Steam for Windows, there are many free-to-play games that you can download and play without paying anything and there are tons more games in the 20 cents - $10 price range. Plus when they have sales you can sometimes get triple A titles for 3-5 dollars
you can play drakensang.com its very like of DOTA, but very interesting game. if you will be interested in it, i will give my referral link and if you reg under it, i will help you in everything

Get Doom 3, it doesn't have multiplayer but it's hands down the scariest PC game I've ever played, I totally loved it.
It was released in 2004 so it should run fine on your machine.
You should consider installing the Steam client, you'll have access to tons of games at very affordable prices especially when they have sales on.
EDIT: There are quite a few free to play multiplayer games on Steam too.

What's your graphics card? If you don't have any, i think these games should be good for you :
