Install original S3 firmware then add my S3 update.

Hi all, I found this update (?)

That is for en entirely different miner.

As others have said, this will never really mine anything.
At BEST it's going to get you BTC 0.0000005 a day. BEFORE you pay for electricity.
To put it another way, if you mine at a non solo pool you will make about $0.01 a day so about 2000 days to cover the $20 you spent.

If it's just to learn about mining that is OK, but don't think you will ever make money.

I am currently mining in solo.ckpool with my recently acquired S3 (I paid 20 dollars second hand for it) and I have been mining for 10 hours and nothing. I know that it is a very low-power equipment, that's why I wanted to ask you if you recommend me to continue mining in that pool or change to another and Kas mines for example. I don't know, I'm really lost. If you can guide me I would be very grateful. All the best.

Another other way to look at this is

moder gear the s19 with 1 board not 3 set to low speed will pull 700 watts and do 27000gh or 27th

an s9 set to 1/3 speed will pull 400 watts and do 4700 gh or 4.5 th

a s3 set to full speed pulls pulls 380 watts and does 400gh  or  0.4 th

so 27 x 7 cents = $1.89 a day
and 4.5 x 7 cents = 31.5 cents a day

and .4 x 7 cents = 2.8 cents a day.

so in 100 days if power is free you have $2.80 USD

700 days if power is free you have $19.60 USD so not a good unit to mine with

I know you had a specific question to be answered, but I can not help but tell you more than what you want to hear because this is like someone asking " I bought a new plastic table, how can I put a truck engine on it ", the simple answer is to lift that engine and drop it on the table, but then It would be a terrible advice.

That gear you bought is useless, it does not matter what pool you use, your power rate doesn't make that much of a difference either.

Sorry.

As BitMaxz said, you are currently mining on a solo pool, so unless you find a block, you will have nothing. Your reward is 6.25 BTC (+ tx fees) or nothing. And if you take 0.5 Th/s on SoloChance.com, it gives you the following estimation :

Between 12000 and 13000 years with an average luck, so your chances of getting a reward are small. You can keep mining on solo.ckpool.org if you want like a lottery ticket. You can be very luck and have a block. Or you could earn nothing at all.

If you want to earn some sats, you can always try to mine on ViaBTC, at least they pay the transaction fees to the miners.

I hope that you pay very low amount per kw/h, because the S3 is not the top ASIC regarding efficiency.

Block halving is coming.
Does anyone know of any custom firmware for this device?

I never heard that there is a custom firmware for this unit I also tried to search but I can't find any.

If your purpose in finding custom firmware is to overclock this unit you can try the procedure here below

About the pool where you mine you are mining on Solo pool meaning you are the only one who mining if you are lucky and found a block it would take years to solve the block with your current hashrate.

Another thing is that if you switch to another pool with a fixed payment then you will get a negative profit due to electricity unless you have a free power source.

To have an idea about the mining pool to join, check the latest blocks that are mined and check the mining pools that mined it. Then you can make more research about which one will be most profitable for you.

Mining pools in relation to the latest mined blocks: https://mempool.space/blocks

You will need a powerful miners too, there are single miners that can generate up to or more than 100 Th/s. Example are the S19 series like S19 Pro.

Antminer S3 can only generate 478 Gh/s which is somehow small and the reward would be small too. 478 Gh/s is not up to 0.5 Th/s.
