upgrading the firmware on these was very risky as there is no sd card option for backup.

it was well documented that some batches of s3s never hit the advertised speed..
i do also remember on mine, i had one that was actually faster if i went down 1 or 2 on the clock speed.. you may try 218.75.

Does someone has an idea why my 3 S3's fallback to about 300 GH/s after a while ?

I just cleaned them ( cooling plates and ventilators ) and even reapplied thermal paste to one of the 3 :

Seems a bit odd try resetting the firmware (if on latest try going a couple versions)

Tell me if it works or not

Have had several S3+ miners but only one of them was be able to run at frequency 250 with ~500Ghs stable and low HW errors.
Power consumption at the wall was about 400W

snip

With S3's I had each had a personality of it's own.  Some operated better then others, some liked different settings.   I had everything from batch 1 S3 to S3+'s though so there is some reason for that.

If you have 500+ avg and miner looks to be mining with low hw errors or issues... I would not mess with it. Why change what is working good?

Those are my thoughts exactly, which is why I'm asking for help before touching anything Wink. If I could get it running at a higher GH/s, I'd be sure to test out my options, though.

Would you change anything on this? Currently 250M @ 0800V (Wasn't sure what to put, so I gave it 'enough'), 503GH/s avg. The PSU is a 650W Silverpower.

Thanks for any help!

I always found 243.75m on my S3+ to be a decent hashrate for the power.

Hi guys,

what is the sweet spot in terms of frequency/Watts for the S3+ ?

I need to put 4xS5 and 4xS3+ on a 16A line and they're using slightly over 17A at default freq(S5:350, S3+:250) so I need to underclock them a bit...

Ok all, I need help.
I had a S3 mining that suddently stopped mining and started beeping.
So I restarted it, and it doesnt what to kinda start anymore...

Green light stays on, red light keeps flashing and the red inside the miner is on... but the red light never stop flashing and I cannot connect to it... even the reset button doesnt do anything...

I even unplugged it and once powered it still does the same thing, red flashing and nothing....

any hint here ?!?!?

Thx alot !

internet down?

the red light flashes until cgminer starts up, cgminer wont start until it sees internet.

you say you cant connect to it.. perhaps the cable went bad.. or the board Sad

Same thing happened to me. I got an S3, and the previous owner changed the login and password. I tried resetting but with the firmware I had, the reset was disabled. I got lucky and the owner told me the password.

The miner is garbage without the password pretty much.

Just wish I could find an updated miner monitor so I don't keep multiple tabs open

Try cryptoglance.

oh and @Darwin84: no amount of rudeness will help anyone, you first.

Nobody forces you to continue responding to InsomniaZombieDaemon and judging him.
Maybe he's wrong, maybe he isn't.

again you're an idiot and nobody said that, or whoever said that is the one I told you to ignore in post #1

you weren't able to follow instructions from post 1 onwards so why would be able to now . good luck with your ebay purchase.

agreed the reset is nice but some people just can't be helped because they don't read or follow instructions. from what I gather seller one even put his btc address in there so it obviously worked until the day it was shipped and seller two has a password which means he's obviously looking at the password screen so that works as well. pretty sure nothing is dead except the poster.
Thats absolutely wrong what you tell there! I followed the instructions from Bitmain Wink They said it's better to reset when you get one new so i#ve done it and the reset doesn't work, a few times i made it because in the internet you can find some threads about "not working reset" and when you read it you know that sometimes the reset at a s3 doesn't work, ok no problem, we can make it a lot of times because reseting a miner is not a damage to him. You only set him to basic configuration Wink but it worked already not so i came to here and ask what it will be, you guy tell me something about "didn't hear on anything about the internet" and " reset"  so all videos and threads about reseting a S3 were the same: let miner run for 3 minutes --> plug a thing in the hole on the right side of the Lan (you said Toothpick), hold it for about 10 seconds and after that wait 3 minutes ----> then stick in the hole with toothpick again and wait after that again 3 minutes than power it off and power it on ... thats nothing difficult even for my 4 year old son not and i've done it right the descriptions said, don't work! So whats in your opinion wrong with it?

I have no other miners or ip using things in my networkt the s3 are the only one there and i only pluged one to power supply not the two miners at the same time so what will you tell me about network when there is no other machine in the network configured outa the miner? And Darwin who i telled the seller is the fault? I only told that he doesn't give me the logindates and the other one doesn't reset the miner but what you said is already dumb like you are and from a person like you which can't help and can only talk shit i don't wanna any help so bye Darwin!  Wink

Now you guys see why you want avoid selling on ebay.  This is your default buyer. After bricking and blowing resetting 100 times he will say its sellers fault.

I just love how the tech tries to help the dumb and because the dumb can't read and follow instructions the tech becomes the dumbass in the end.

good luck idiot you are your own worst enemy.

um.. to be fair, the seller on ebay should have reset the device before giving it to the guy with a non default password..

there was several firmwares that bitmain put on the s3 that the reset button didnt work. starting from like batch 3 or 4.
