Each reward halving is like a FED meeting decided to cut the money supply by half. Even for a worldwide currency like USD, cut the money supply by half will make it at least appreciate 25% against other currencies, so for a small currency like bitcoin, a price double is not surprising

That it will rise due to the halving is no secret, but I think the rise will last very short. I guess max 50% gain 1 or 2 months before the actual halving.

Once halving has taken place I can see the gain that was initiated before the halving plummet from 50% to just 10%.

in my eyes the price will fall depending on how we fix the actualy core.

imagine our transactions taking 2 weeks, due to backlogs of nodes. this falls into the category of double spending.. etc.

getting rid of alts won't help bitcoin. I would say most or even all of the alts today are immature and possibly has no future, but in the future, if crypto becomes mainstream, you can bet that there will be, and I would argue NEEDS to be alts that compete with bitcoin, just as there is Bing, DuckDuckGo, Baidu etc competing with google.

I saw if we got rid of every alt coin including lite coin, and doge coin, we`d have a increased value in bitcoin.

forcing people to buy it more, I feel like all the alt coin scene has been clogging up newbies from buying bitcoin more then they should.

That would be very hard to implement and who is anyone to stop them? People should have the right to make crypto whatever they want it to be even if they're going to lose vast amounts. If they do then I'm sorry for them but the resources are out there to inform themselves.

Alts have not impressed me at all but they will always be with us in some form.

99.9% of alt technology doesn't impress me, but a tiny fraction of new technology being developed sometimes impresses me. There are huge arguments over making the slightest change to Bitcoin, and the proposed changes can be tested in alts. Using bigger blocks is the latest Bitcoin proposal and its easy to test it in an alt to find out how well it works.

My current feel about the price is that we are going to see a very long term on the 200-300 range with some ups peaking at about 450. Overall the price will go up finding new floors slowly but it will be way to slow for the average joe to realize that, so weak hands will kee being shaken.

finally some one who's being realistic. there will be a lot people who are selling because they simply don't have the patience to hold long term.

We will go to 280-300 then 220-230 after a week I hope you understand and use your brain to what the currency is dear oh dear. It is yen of course! No no wait... doge is what it was I remember now, btc will be 300 doge within the month and I am feeling bullish get it? zzzZZZZ

Hey, really not sure. Do you mean % of the actual value?

Dude when I am speculating and stating I am bullish I would not be talking yen or doge would I? I have no reason to speculate litecoin because that would not be the price that would be what I could trade it for. Here... The 'price' of bitcoin will be $280-$300 for 1 week 'within the month' then back down to $220-$230 after a week of being there.

~$240-250 for a few more days, and then another sudden pop up over $250. ~$250-290 through second half of month.

How do you think what price of bitcoin will be in nearest future?  Wink

The nearest future I will assume weeks to month and I am bullish so will speculate it will be around 280-300. Of course anything can happen and would not be surprised for it to be 220-230 within a week of it touching 280-300. Some pennies to be made if you are watching and ready.

LOL, what are you speculate? 280-300 what? 220-230 what? There are so many currencys litecoin, dogecoin ... some people use also fiat currency like dollar, euro, ruble, yen or whatever.

Somehow i think the price of bitcoin will rise in future, in near future not so much like in far future. A peak could be possible at the time of the next block reward halving Wink
But it will reach not such a high price like the last time as this event happens.

Shame you are a bit of a donut, read properly and maybe you can understand that was kinder simple maan. i have not calculated it till now but i am pritty sure that upto 18th august it will reach 430$ as my pridection is strong and i am not saying it peoples say that...well if it is then i am sure it will reach 420$ and i am gonna sell all my coins on that day for sure

That's a good prediction, i believe this could be possible Wink

Bitcoin price never can be predictable, but i think it won't reach $250 anytime soon

The price will fluctuate between $210 and $250.

how you can say so? because is it the current situation? current situation don't reflect the future, the fact that right now we are floating between that range doesn't mean that will be still there in the end of the year or early 2016, or what you want

on the contrary, it only mean that we are rock solid and the chances of sub 200 happening again even for a short time are more and more slim

Bitcoin's price is too volatile and no one can precisely predict the price at any specific moment. So when we are trading with it, we should be cautious.

With the trade i have been watching i see a price about $220 usd before the end of May.

But the BTC price will never be as high as the number of threads on this topic.  Wink

Mining is a huge sinking cost for btc. Without new infusion of new fiat, it will keep going down.

So the price can never rise? Shucks. Here is silly old me thinking the price is set by the market, directly from supply and demand, not by miners.

How do you explain the price being higher two years ago?
cos the speculated movement happened in China. Many ppl there are buying up the price. A lot of fiat money went to bitcoin and expect the return from selling it!
