I'm buying up all the 1700w psu in the EU, they are so freaking rare even a used one with a platinum rating goes for over 300 euros.

yeah a 1200 will do it, either supernova or corsair 1200 platinum are good, but you can also try to buy 1 rm1000i, will do good if you lower the tdp to 80%, and it's less expensive than the other 1200watt psu

If you mine ZEC, 1200W is enough.

But why only platinum? Gold is not ok? Or gold 1300w?

I have 2 options only:
1- GREEN GP1450B-OC+ Overclocking Evo 80Plus Platinum PSU (lower price)
2- Cooler Master V1200 Platinum (high price)

I was told GREEN PSUs are not good at high voltage usages, is that right?

Platinum or Titanium PSU's can handle a high load more efficiently than gold PSU's. If you are going to run more than 80% of the rated power, I would only go with a platinum or better PSU from a good brand like EVGA or Corsair. Platinum PSU's run cooler and the higher efficiency will also save you money in the long run.

1070 cards have a 150 watts TDP , so for 6 cards + your system need min 150wx6= 900 watts + around 100 watts for ur cpu/mobo/hdd/mem , so your total system draw going to be around 1000 watts , if you know how to overclock and the same time undervolt your cards you will be ok with 1200 watts psu . I would not use 1000watts psu for ur setup...
Building mining rig to about 80-85 percent of a PSU's capacity is advisable to achieve maximum efficiency and stability .

If he runs at 60% TDP he won't be using more than 800w, so a PSU 1000w would be fine.

Also with oc and modded bios

There is no BIOS mod for NVIDIA.

I second that, get a platinum 1200 watt psu.

Hi,

I bought 6x"MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X Twin Frozr VI OC 8GB GDDR5". I want to know what PSU is required if I want to mod the bios for higher hashrate regardless of other hardware? Only GPU.
Is 1000-1200w ok only for GPUs?
