Don't mine at night, you might burn down the house.

Dude, you need to set up temperature controls lol. Set it up in your batch file or config to throttle down if it reaches X degrees or shut it down entirely if it reaches Y degrees. The exact temp depends on your card; I am mostly running 290s so they can take higher temps than other cards. Of course I have never actually had them go even close to the red zone temps because I have good airflow set up.
That was what I thought would be the solution as well, who would mine with the risk of his house burning down?

Don't mine at night, you might burn down the house. But a gaming pc sounds fine, or maybe you can buy some bitcoins and wait for the next spike  Grin
Is there really that big of a chance that your miners catch on fire? Must be countless solutions to the fire risk. Otherwise you can't leave your house either, which would suck.

May be you can buy dogecoin and keep them  Wink just a suggestion .

+1000
OP might like to see Dogecoin's subreddit to understand why: http://www.reddit.com/r/dogecoin/
It's fun to see that a coin based on something as fun and laid back as Doge is turning into something serious. Smiley

Yep, and still manages to stay fun and laid back at the same time!

Hi guys, i have around $1100 to spend on something,

so ive been thinking on buying a new miner or build a gaming pc with (AMD cards so it can mine at night)

What do you guys think i should do?

a miner wont be a problem for me since i have free electricity.

Thanks

Buy $1100 of a decent stock that pays dividends and forget it exists for a while.

Oh but assuming you MUST do something crypto-related with it, I wouldn't venture into mining at this stage... You would be better off to convert the 1100 to btc and hold that or speculate by buying altcoins honestly... Getting into mining at this point (or adding equipment even if you already have some) is a major gamble. You may not ever break even on the investment.

Buy now! You can get 2 whole btcs and some more. Quick, before the price doubles!

Don't try to pressurize like that, this makes the community sound like a ponzi scheme.
He asked for advice and I gave him my personal advice. If someone actually is dumb enough to think that the whole community is a ponzi scheme I really don't think we need them anyways, now do we? My point is investing during the rise is the best way to go, and waiting will result in the prices being higher ( obviously ) and less profit to be made. He's not asking what fun thing he can do with his money, but for investment advice.

I would prefer directly buying bitcoin over buying ASICs / GPUs.
It is almost not possible to get profits mining bitcoin, and it is difficulty to get profits mining scrypt coins with more and more scrypt ASICs.

Buy BTC with your cash. You can purchase more than 2 bit-coins right with this price.

Thanks for the nice replys. I have another question.

Is there a way I can make an offline/paper wallet that I can keep adding coins to, while it's stored in a bank safe?

You can do that with any paper wallet, just keep the deposit address that is tied with your private key on your computer and you'll always be able to send to it and check its balance on the blockchain explorer.
