Do people actually care about how many friends/followers/likes they receive on posts? Judging from a lot of these people posting they do...I honestly had no idea people cared about that!

I basically only use facebook. I use it far less than I used to, the novelty is definitely wearing off. I do find it a great way to organize a get together at everyone's convenience to reply. I tend to use it to follow local sports teams and to get an idea of whats happening news wise.
Not a fan of twitter. the only time I ever use it is to get extra contests entries and such.

These are exactly my thoughts as well. Grand majority of users on facebook are sheeps. Facebook is good from business point of view to manage trends and probe what people like. It always makes me laugh if someone tell me that he has xxxx amount of friends on facebook. Friendship is not about quantity it is about quality.

I using facebook. You can call facebook users as sheeps. But it is also a great way to see your old classmates, old colleague and old friends. I think facebook is still very useful in meeting people across the globe.

i don't know, i'm kind of tired of facebook and social networking as a whole, i don't know how people grow such large bases unless they are already well established, i have 30 friends on twitter. and most of them are just silly quote bots and what not so really what's the point?
it's just tiring knowing that you have x amount of friends on facebook and none of them really want to communicate with you

Same here. Social networks are the biggest time waster ever invented, also a place to people feed their ego and pretend to be someone they are not.
