currently Windows 7, a few years back I used Vista which was terrible and gave me a blue screen often.

I like Macs, it might be my next computer purchase (probably a ways down the road sadly)

Trying out ElementaryOS on my mini-computer (netbook). It actually works really well and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a really minimal and fast-loading quick Ubuntu based distro. (linux obv.)

I use Windows 8.1. It's not that bad, but I realize a lot of people hate it.

I'm still using windows xp.
because : My computer is a Pentium 4 and 1 GB RAM
so I think Windows XP is better  Grin
possible after windows XP I would use windows 7

I loved xp and still have it on one of my older computers was my favorite microsoft operating system.

yes windows XP mostly in old PC
I am often envious of my friend in using windows 7 and also because the changing times
maybe later when I've bought a new PC, I use windows 7  Smiley

If you have a machine which has more than 4GB then it's time to move on from XP and that's one of the reasons I did move onto Linux. I do miss XP sometimes though and I'm not 100% sure why windows 7 is much easier to use than XP as you don't need to manually add hardware etc.

I'm some what surprised that the majority are windows 7 users though only a small amount of people are using other operating systems. I would of thought that people would be storing their Bitcoin on Linux based machines for security purposes.

We should be able to vote for multiple operating systems as I have a dual boot system and a few old computers (backing to windows 2000).

I'm using windows 7, is it worth switching to windows 8?

I'd say no, They are very similiar operating systems...you won't notice much change but a few visual parts....The average user notices very different between the 2 OS's even though there are plenty..

I'd say save your money, Windows 7 is still great at what it does, at my home, I use 7, at work I use 8.

The visual part is the most irritating part about it. it's so stupid to have it setup like that it looks like a tablet. and the amount of space it requires to install is beyond a joke compared to linux distributions. Basically Linux can do everything that a windows 8 machine can do and better. yet you are paying mega bucks for windows 8 which is far more limited and resource heavy.

You can't really compare Linux and Windows machines...Linux will always always always be cheaper, and probably run faster as well.

As far as the visual goes it is not that different.  just think of your start menu replaced with the tablets..customize it to how you want it....basically Windows 8 is windows 7...

I tend to stay away from windows as much as possible now days because of the security Linux offers their system and the philosophy is just the best. (obviously this is a bias opinion as I have fell in love with pretty much all Linux distributions).

At my old job they used windows 8 machines and I got to admit that was on of the things that made me quit what a disgusting operating system and I really don't understand why it's become popular among people.

What is so bad about it?  My guess is you just don't know how to use it.  It is essentially Windows 7 so how on earth you don't like it is beyond me....they have a few "Visual" changes but nothing that is enough to make anyone say it sucks....So please say why you hate it!
