That's great if it means you're addicted to asking questions, meaning you're serious about gaining some new knowledge every day.

-snip-
is it happened to your sometime when you were newbie?
Not really, I experienced boredom several times in this place at first.

I would suggest OP to significantly reduce the time he spends on the forum as it can harm hi life eventually.
Seriously dude?
In any way trying to affect one's life, this forum will have no effect to that extent. Maybe you're just going to have a migraine.

OP, are you sure you have one account on this forum? I found some matches with another account. You tried to sign up for a bounty, and your Twitter account tells me that there is another account that also owns this contact.
I will not blame you for alternative accounts now; just be careful.

Op allegedly has an alternative account, so why go on and announce that this is their first ever account in the forum even without being asked.
Just being dishonest even when there is no reasons to.
Well, it's cool we have people like you who will always flaw their fake claims.

But if one day you want to categorically cut off relations with this attractive forum, you can copy and plagiarize. In this case, your addiction will be cured right away (joke).

What an expensive way to end addiction  Grin
After reading your reply on this, I thought I was the one that made the posts. It sounded like a suggestion I could make.

You have solved half of your problem by realizing that you are addicted to login into the forum. It is normal to be so anxious for the first time. But you need self discipline and some guidelines from the person that introduced you to the forum. It happened to me as i was always logged into the forum trying to understand the forum and get use to everything about the forum and it almost took my whole time in a day. But with time, i scheduled my login time so i can have to for other daily activities.
On the other hand, i don't see the number of time you logged into the forum as a problem because i believe you are busy doing something profiting and useful to you. Unless proven otherwise.

"every addiction is bad"
I don't know what you mean by "every addiction is bad" because I used to play basketball all the time because I love it and it benefits me, in other words I'm addicted to it, but does it mean it's bad? I don't agree with that. There's nothing wrong with spending a long time here in the forum because there are many benefits and knowledge you can get here about cryptocurrency and  how it works. The more time you spend, the more you learn. And I think many people here in the forum spends so much time, not just me. So if "every addiction is bad" is correct, it may not be right to say that we are addicted because it really benefits us.

By the way, while I have been here on the forum for a long time, my time here has increased because I have the knowledge that I gained from here to answer many of the questions. Cheesy

You have a lot of free time buddy if you are addicted to this forum. Your stay must be enjoyable for you. From bitcoin to altcoins and many more, I presume you gained a lot of knowledge here. However, if you do not take care of all your real life priorities, it is not healthy to stay too long here. I have a history of addiction and have spent too much time in front of my computer, but it was because I was keen to learn the many strategies on how to trade crypto currencies. However, if you really believe you need to limit yourself, why not try a different activity that also makes you happy? It could be related to crypto or not.

It seems that you want to keep updated with the different boards or do you have a special board that you are always with because seeking for the answer or knowledge into it?, it is just okay because you keep updated on the threads, I've been doing that every day I visit my phone I always go to the browser and go to our local, beginners and help and also with the gambling discussions with the bets of other players for the sports and e-sports event.

Hey newbie, welcome to this educational, knowledge-giving, and time worth-spending platform. Addiction in my own words simply mean, the uncontrollable engagement in an activity to the extent that it affects your daily functioning as a human being and as a member of your community at large. From what you have described, it doesn't meet the yardstick to qualify as an addiction.

As a newbie on this forum, if your goal is to increase your knowledge about bitcoin, that is everything associated with it, then, you will want to spend time browsing and reading through the several boards on the forum. Because, the way I see it there is a positive correlation between time spent logged in and the increase in knowledge.

The only time when I think it becomes an addiction and you have to slow down is when you log in only to search for bounties, making low quality posts, and or merit phishing. Aside these, I think you gat nothing to worry about.

use it for positive things if you have knowledge you can share in this forum.
but if it bothers you it's better not to enter the forum first.
but my advice is better to use your addiction in this forum for things that are useful for you or useful for fellow users of this forum.

It's left for you to explain what an addiction is all about, because for a newbie login in the forum always to try to understand how the forum works I don't see that as an addiction but a self-investment (I.e crypto wise), because as a newbie, there is no how you can best understand how this forum works if you don't log into it daily. As it has been proven that this forum is an encyclopedia of all a person needs to know about in his/her crypto journey.

So if you think you login into this forum daily is an addiction, and you think it's bad, how about you take a break off the forum, or try spending 4 to 5hours on average daily.

I kinda relate to this somehow although it is in Reddit. Not sure what's your niche OP but if you're really into Bitcoin, I would somehow understand but there's plenty of resources out there that kinda gives you more knowledge into your niche.

In forums like Reddit, I am kinda addicted since there's so many stuffs in life there that I didn't know that exists or even happens. It's something else that you will learn aside from the knowledge you get from school.

This depends on your definition of being addicted in the first place. Does your addiction in logging-in into this forum completely hinders you from doing anything else? Do you also gain anything on your stay in this forum? In addition, while in this forum, do you take your time browsing through various boards and you learn from the topics that are being created?

Those are some of the questions you should ask yourself first. If your stay here means that you are missing to complete your obligations, then it is about time that you have to limit your time browsing. But if you gain knowledge through the process, then this would be beneficial to you in the long-run.

What type of addiction is this? If you have fun browsing some discussion and learn with it then this is good addiction because this is informative place where you can learn a lot of things. Also as long as there's no financial loss from your end then you are fine this forum is newbie friendly so help yourself on things you need.

But if you want to quit because you find this a toxic place better uninstall your browser for a while if you are using smart phone so you can avoid browsing this for a while.

Addiction is not always bad if it can add to your knowledge and insight with this forum. I understand why you are addicted because there are many discussion topics here that you want to find so that you keep opening this forum. Moreover, there is more motivation because you see other users who have been successful because of this forum you will definitely be addicted.

There's nothing wrong with what you do as long as it doesn't interfere with your daily life. For example, if you are fired from your job because you often spend time on this forum, that's bad for your addiction. Cheesy

My advice is that you should reduce your activity time in this forum, because if your eyes look at this forum for too long it can damage your own eyes. I think 6-7 hours a day is enough
I don't think he would have been concerned if the addiction wasn't affecting his life in any way. His life is probably being disturbed because he is not being able to stop himself from visiting the forum more often than he should, so that is basically bad even if the addiction itself isn't for something harmful.

Sometimes we get addicted to things that are supposed to be used for our own good but due to the addiction, they start turning to be a negative thing for us. I would suggest OP to significantly reduce the time he spends on the forum as it can harm hi life eventually.

And your opinion is not wrong in judging a person's addiction to something especially regarding the time spent here in this forum.
The information obtained here is not just crypto but there are many others that will become the knowledge of someone who is willing to use it in a good way.

Politics, Economics are also here. As far as we know this forum is more about Bitcoin related information such as the name (Bitcoin Forum).
Going back to the beginning, it depends on the OP how he perceives his habits.

I think I just open my tab for logging in on forum. The thing is I didnt often scroll it I just had quick scan of topics I am interested reading in or join the discussion. You dont really need to be active by keeping logging in many times over a day. Anything excess is bad so better act like a normal person when it comes to like this. No need to be so active like you make 10 or 20 post daily or what. Sometimes just reading the thread could be helpful in gathering knowledge already.

Not all addictions are bad, it depends on how and where you make an addiction.

Another thing that drives a person to be active on the forum depends on their goals and objectives. If you spend days here like any other user and aim to find something based on your goals, then the addiction will be for the good.
This forum is complete with all crypto-related knowledge whether general, technical or otherwise.

In my personal opinion, anything that would keep you in a sense hooked isn’t a good thing. Being dependent on something irrespective of what it is, is never a good thing cause if at any time that thing is taken away from you, it would not go so well with you cause at this stage, you’re now dependent on that thing. So In my view, all addictions are bad unless you’re addicted to doing good and even that could have a small snag to it.

If a user were to spend time here browsing through and is active on the forum like a lot of others users, then knowledge and information would be for the good and not addiction as you rightly pointed out that the forum is ripe with a lot of information and not limited to crypto related information

I think everyone has spent the same amount of time on the forum as a newbie. But the more time you spend on this forum the more you can learn from the forum.  From what I can see there are many things in the forum which I still don't know but I have been so addicted here for several days that when I pick up my phone I log into the forum and see the account and learn a lot. If you are active in the forum you can do a lot in life.  Through I have changed my life.

It seems that you have a lot of free time, because if it weren't for that, you wouldn't be so focused on the forum. If logging in worries you too much, you can browse the forum as a guest. Be that as it may, I don't think you need to worry too much at this point, for most people, the "addiction" you mention disappears after a while.
yes i think so too first few days there is some addiction then after few days you will come out of it and you will get out of addiction. but the more addictive the forum is the better if you stay active in the forum there are many ways to earn from here. which is what i chose as my income.  I think there are many opportunities available from the income taken every week.

You are a newbie so addicted here. When you learn everything here thoroughly then you can reduce time here by yourself. In the first state, people become a little more addicted. We also got a little too addicted like you when we got into the new one. Then from here when I have fully developed myself then I have reduced the time a bit. Although I still spend more time here, I enjoy my time here much more.

Get a job! That's in the case you haven't got one but I've you actually do, try to be good at it or perfect your defects and of whiling away time is what you want, you might archive that.

But still, funding yourself visiting the forum isn't such a bad idea. It would surely help you on your crypto journey and this is a discussion platform meant to educate rather than waste it away. Most of all, welcome to the forum and hope you find what you seek in a forum here.
Just ensure you try to archive something each time you visit, a point to deliberate on or clear some doubt and be you'll be doing just fine.

I log in many times to see if there is any new reply of my thread because my some questions are like that, i need to login to see if there is new reply or new knowledge to be learned, login means not that type of login that typing username and password, instead i switched to "always stay logged in" option , because i mostly on my computer and struggle to concentrate on work previously in my hand , so i switch to this site many time because of curiosity, It's been really very hard to concentrate for me.

I don't wanna armchair diagnose you by calling it addiction but it's definitely a problem if it gets in the way of your work. If fully stopping doesn't help you, I'd say set small goals each day and gradually increase the difficulty. Whenever I try this method, I type in the goals on my notes where I can see my progress so the whole thing feels more rewarding. A little add on: fidgeting could help increase your focus.

I also suggest using a notification bot, see: [TELEGRAM] Yet Another BitcoinTalk Notification BOT (merits, mentions, topics,+)

The first time I heard of forum addiction I consider it passion, not addiction, it's good if you are learning and it's a good addiction it happens to me when I first learn about Bitcointalk because there are so many things to learn here sometimes you cannot keep up, you need more time in a day because the topic is dynamic and discussion worth participating.
I'm sure you will get over it at some point, but be sure to contribute to the flow of the discussion and let the community knows that you learn a lot of you are a proud member.

Are you assuming your logging in very many times like a newbie as an addiction? Since when?? ...and even if it should, isn't it what every good learner would crave for?
I'm supposed you know how tedious it is to surf around the whole forum just for a single idea?! Then chill, if it's growing as an addiction, you need 'em more.
Point of correction; not all addictions are destructive, some are needed to build a solid passion and interest. I believe if you're faced with challenges everyday, YOU'LL have no choice but to log on everday to fasten 'em belt and further your quest

You are encouraged to be a regular of the forum by popping in once in a while  to familiarize yourself  with the community and some of the rules here, but if this place drive's you to be logging in more than usual that could be a good thing as you will get to learn more crypto jargon  Roll Eyes but if it makes you less productive in real life then try by all means to stay away from this place...there is more to life than being here all day!

Best way to stay away is find something that will require you to be offline, a new hobby, a job anything that will just keep you occupied.

You have to first define what you're busy doing on the forum taking too much of your time before concluding on if this kind of addiction worth it or not but base on what i can see on your profile and for me to judge about that, i don't see it an addiction but rather a chance for you to level up what you're contributing to the forum, your account was just created last year and yet you only have 5 merits and less than 200 post with 70 activities, ask yourself what you have been doing while online? You could termed it anything you like as long as you aren't contributing to the forum as expected, try make your presence be felt if you're always committed to being online on this forum.

Perhaps, the OP has been reading through various numerous threads. There are times where I mostly feel like reading through a lot of stuff on here(and there really is a lot to read).
I know when I had first registered on here, I mostly spent more time reading and going through threads than I did writing. I had wanted to fully understand the workings of the forum before I began to “safely” contribute without fear of mistakenly doing the wrong thing.

There are a lot of people that don’t write much but do read a lot thereby acquiring more knowledge. And personally, I think it’s much better to read and not write anything than to write and write BS.
I can relate with the OP as when I had first registered on here, there was a lot to read(there still is) and I had initially spent a lot of time on here reading though various thread and not exactly writing anything.

When you are fond of visiting a place frequently it’s because you derive joy from there or perhaps you benefit in one way or another. Addiction can affect you either positively or negatively it just depends on what you benefit or how it affects your well-being. I’m sure all your time spent here are not in vain and you have been able to learn or achieve something here either directly or indirectly thats why you are finding it difficult to spend less time here. I don’t think its bad spending so much time here as far as it doesn’t affect your sleep or your health in any way.

Before i joined the forum i used to spend most of my time on twitter, i get my daily updates about music football and jokes from my favorite comedians on twitter, it used to be fun until i joined the forum last month. Ever since I joined the forum I have no other place to spend my time i barely even have time for twitter and social media. I have learned so much being here and since I love reading this is just the perfect place for me. So I wouldn’t classify it as an addiction, just that we have ways of seeing things differently.

I even really like to spend my free time on forums, the information I get here is more accurate than social media. There is a lot of information that I can take in forums, being addicted to forums has given me a lot of knowledge. You need to find busyness in the real world to break the addiction, find activities that make you feel good, then come back to it when you feel you are happy in the forum.

OP you didn't say why you always log in. If the reason why you log in is to read and get more knowledge about bitcoin, then it is a positive addiction. For me, your situation is like being addicted to reading. Recently my cousin came back from school and I discovered that she was highly addicted to tik tok and Facebook. I was surprised when she was weeping because her phone battery ran down and there was no power to charge her phone. Moderation is key in every issue or live's activity but it is better to be addicted to this forum than social media. Except it's for business, social media has low or no benefits.

Addiction is said to be as not having control over doing, taking or using something to the point where it could be harmful to you. It depends on what you been addicted to, if what are addicted to adds to your live don't stop but you curtail how you use it,if it's what doesn't add value to your life then start by seeing a therapist, counselor or curtailing it yourself.
I think we are here in the forum to be informed or transform

I do not see you as a rank hunter, but I see a person who is trying to sincerely communicate on the forum.
So I don't think you have anything to worry about.

But if one day you want to categorically cut off relations with this attractive forum, you can copy and plagiarize. In this case, your addiction will be cured right away (joke).

I am a newbie and this is my first ever forum account and i am addicted to it, i log in many many times a day, what can i do to stop addiction, "every addiction is bad"
is it happened to your sometime when you were newbie?

It seems that you have a lot of free time, because if it weren't for that, you wouldn't be so focused on the forum. If logging in worries you too much, you can browse the forum as a guest. Be that as it may, I don't think you need to worry too much at this point, for most people, the "addiction" you mention disappears after a while.

I think I should ask you this question first, is your addiction in forum affecting you in any way? Because I don't really see anything bad in being addicted to forum, not that you are spending money here or anything, basically the forum is for learning or sharing information, I don't think their is anything bad in learning always.
I don't have any solution to your problem, I do login frequently but I don't think there is anything bad in it, i know I can't do without the forum for now, even if am addicted to forum, I see no reason why I will stop visiting the forum.

"every addiction is bad" so you think logging into forums multiple times a day is something bad.?
It is necessary to review your purpose logging into the forum, if the time you spend while on the forum does not provide any benefit, maybe the quote "every addiction is bad" is very appropriate to embed. Clear goals will make you feel at home somewhere, similarly when you are accepted to work at a company, you will feel safe because it is in accordance with your initial intentions.
I never feel bored logging in every day on the forum, besides being able to deepen my knowledge of blockchain, I can also increase my income from signature campaigns.

Best method of dealing with addictions is going cold turkey. Meaning you just hard stop visiting the forum. Find some other things to do in your life. Especially the productive ones, like studying, working or sports.

You are right to recognize this problem, it's easy to spend countless hours reading posts to the point where it's detrimental to your life, because you are not achieving anything. And you absolutely don't need to spend hours every day on this forum to be a successful Bitcoin investors. All you need to know is how to safely use Bitcoin, and then just have patience and hold it for years instead of trying to trade it frequently.

With about 70 days since you registered on the forum, those are not insane numbers and doesn't suggest you are addicted if we consider just the time spent.

If you feel you are not able to stop using the forum when you have other engagements to attend to, then start trying to withdraw a bit, till you can decide when to log in and when not to.

is it happened to your sometime when you were newbie?

No, beginners don't visit forums too often because they get bored at first, but often a lot of time is given to forums in their spare time, so I'm even more excited to be active with the 3-4 hours I spend here until now.

Well you are free to login as many times you wishes but doesn't mean is an addiction, maybe I can say you are less busy that's why if you are being occupied with something tedious that really consuming your time then you would have little chance to visit here, but that not withstanding you could used those time to read something meaningful to you through this forum if you think is an addiction because the more time you spent here the vast knowledge you gain through reading people's post.

Fellow forum dweller, welcome to the addiction club! Just kidding, addiction is no joke. It's great that you're recognizing the issue early on, though.

As for solutions, have you considered creating a schedule for yourself? Set specific times to log in and stick to them. You could also try cutting down your daily login time and gradually decrease it until you find a balance that works for you. Or, for a real challenge, try going cold turkey for a day or two to see how it feels.

But let's be real, we all know the real solution is to quit your day job and become a full-time forum fanatic. (Just kidding!)

You are a newbie, and this is your first forum account, this is a new place for you, it is normal that you get intrigued and impressed by how much this forum is doing that you forget count of the time that you spend here. With the excitement, you always want to login to the forum to see what is going and what people are discussing. This is normal and something that you will get over with time, I do not think it is addiction yet. As you get older in the forum, you will learn to include it to the activities your life so that your time here will not affect your time to do other meaningful things.
Many beginners want to explore in every thread to find out all the information, but when he gets older in the forum he will be more active on certain boards to find out the information he needs, so there is no term addiction in the forum but if you are always active in the forum, then you also include people who actively contribute to always interact in the forum.

There is always that newbie enthusiasm when we find ourselves in a place where members are classified by ranks and the levels of knowledge that they provide (this is based on individuals, though). I don't think it's addiction but just a feeling that makes you think you'd love to be like others, and so you keep putting in your effort just to be like them. It's just like when someone changes schools and you find out there are more intelligent people in your class than at the formal school you left, then you would want to frequent your reading habit so you could meet up. That's just it.

I had that feeling when I first joined this forum. I write up to five replies a day, and some times I just keep reading to learn. I do social media a lot and watch movies a lot, but since I joined this forum, I have even been battling to finish a series I started in December last year. Is just my thoughts though.

does it happen to your sometimes when you were a newbie?

When I started the forum I spent several months trying to figure out how certain work here in the forum, the first few months after I created my first thread (introductory thread which also gave me my first merit although I knew nothing about it at that time.) I went silent trying to learn more, and eventually, I caught up and started being active.
I won't call my addiction, I'll say I did it out of curiosity.

That means the number of your logins in the forum is far less than most people today, on average I spend 4 to 5 days a week and is usually active for 5 to 6 hours.

Lots of information that we can find here and is not limited to cryptocurrency, for me this forum is different from most other social media. Everyone must be different in the number of hours spent on a forum per day, because in general they have real jobs that cannot be left behind. You can determine how many more optimal hours we need in the forum and ultimately take advantage of something for the progress of knowledge is much better, than spending time in a place that is not useful.

Try telling us how many hours on average you spend on the forum, you could find out in the end that it's a similar number with the majority of forum members and not an outlier. Although addictions are personal and while your number of hours on the forum are not extremely high, it could be distracting you from necessary activities like sleeping.

I spend 4-6 hours on the forum on average and fns it more rewarding than mindlessly scrolling through social platforms and I can also easily put down the phone when I want to.

Well, they say the first step to solving a problem is admitting you have one, so kudos to you for recognizing your addiction!  Cheesy

But seriously, forum addiction? Really? I suppose you could try finding something else to do with your time, like knitting or watching paint dry. But let's be honest, what could possibly be more thrilling than scrolling through endless pages of forum posts? Just embrace the addiction and revel in your newfound hobby!  Cool
