Dear Bitcointalk Moderators

I contribute as community manager of the crypto project Nimiq, a project inspired by Bitcoin that uses different technologies (Merkle Tries, Mini Blockchain Scheme, NiPoPoWs) to create a compact Blockchain with nodes that can run inside of a Browser. You can to test our tech by visiting https://getsome.nimiq.com.

Nimiq was launched on June 06, 2017. Since then we have used Bitcointalk as one of the informative channels to keep Nimiq supporters updated. At the beginning of January, a group of users was created on Bitcointalk with the sole purpose of discrediting the project, spreading FUD that can be (and have been) easily proven wrong

https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/nimiqshitcoin-2518322
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/coinfanatic-2518773
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/andrewjaxx-2520461
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/johnbtc-2520497
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/sashanew-2520547
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/scamiq-2521848

Recently, these users were created with exactly the same behavior since their first post.
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/scamiq2-2545890
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/matthewgpu-2545886

These users’ entire history in Bitcointalk is formed by aggressive partially racist insults, non-factual statements and outright lies. Nimiq has always being known by its supporters because of its transparency. During these users’ attempt to damage the reputation of the project, a Reddit AMA was held without any participation of these users. A serious effort was made to clear any doubts of Bitcointalk readers about the claims from these users. It is clear that they only want to spam the thread, making it impossible for anybody to participate in a normal way.

We think the behaviour of these users goes against the very purpose of Bitcointalk (or any forum). Checking our thread it is easy to see that Nimiq has always answered all questions, keeping honesty and transparency in high value. We ask for help to keep the thread civilized, allowing Bitcointalk readers to be able to read it.

This is totally false. They are being accused by their own president / CEO that these people are running a scam. Robin Linus is the founder of the project. They hijacked the project from the founder himself, while he still the president of the Project.

Robin Linus (founder and still president of Nimiq) views on his own team and project

https://imgur.com/8AH0J5P
https://i.imgur.com/suYJFYy.png

Their boss and President knows that they run fake acccounts on Reddit, Telegramn, Discord and Bitcointalk

https://imgur.com/VhoNKxc

They made handshake deals behind the closed doors looking to finance with 1/3 of the funds (over 3 million dollar) a cannabis user ( Robin Linus addmited on Redit AMA to have a "severe cannabis addiction"). We never knew about this, until Robin Linus dropped the bomb that the promised funds (they signed documents) were never delivered.

https://imgur.com/7xfgiqF

Now they just took the power from their own President hijacking his project.

https://i.imgur.com/1ImVS5S.png

What transparency? Seriously!! What transparency !! There is absolutely no transparency. Here is a list of how liars and shady are these scammers from nimiq

1. We found out after 8 months that Robin Linus founder of the project became a severe drug addict.
2. They never talked about any fight between Robin Linus and the rest of the team. After 8 months, Robin became from the dark and just uncovered how shady team nimiq is and he has an internal fight with the rest of the team for over a year.
3. They lied to us for 6 months that Robin was still in the project doing research, while he didn't do anything and he was back home in Germany getting medical attention to solve his "severe drug addiction" to cannabis
4. They never explained that they spent 1.1 million dollars of their ICO (10%) in order to buy a mansion.
5. They are accused by the founder of the project to be running a fake volume trading bot.
6. They didn't communicate anything about their salaries only the fact that they spent 5 million dollars in a year of running the operations.  In over 2 years, they only made a report without proofs (there is no proof in that document that they owned that amount of btc and eth as in the report). They should have shown us the ETH and BTC addresses.
7. Robin accused them of paying shillers and having members with fake accounts to promote the project. They always refused this.
8. They showed us a document that they removed Robin from the project, but this is impossible (another lie) because Robin Linus is the president of the foundation and they simply can't fire Robin from that position.
9. After the document, they just forgot to mention that they commited 1/3 (YES, ONE THIRD) of the ENTIRE ICO MONEY to Robin Linus after they kicked him out from the project.
10. Robin accused them to have really generous salaries and asked them to reduce their salaries down to $80k/month, taking in consideration that the members get paid in nims but also from the ICO money
11. They are not interested in the ICO money, and nobody except Robin cared about the ICO investors who lost over 98% of their investment, while the team decided to buy a 1.1 million dollar villa in Costa Rica.

After 6 months to proving them that they use cannabis and other drugs, their CEO/Founder/President of Nimiq Foundation admitted that he can not work anymore because of the drugs he use and 2 days ago we found the video proof that they have a full bag of cannabis on their working table in Costa Rica

https://imgur.com/sbYu9qd

Is that FUD? No, it is the reality instead. These people are scammers deceiving people to believe that they want. I don't give a shit about their scam project. I have lost tremendous money. The price of their stupid coin is -99.99% of the initial price (ICO).

"Just to peddle their coin in Meta"? (Yes, their, since I have almost none of these coins)
Seriously? Because you think that 40 pages of spam is not worth opening a thread about it?
About 300 posts, probable made by the same person, on one single thread, writing in unreadably big characters, repeating the same things again and again. You find this normal?
If they really don't add anything to the discussion, perhaps you should add such a detail in reports. That would create a foundation for assigning the replies to a "spam" category.

I think the fuders has been sponsored to create such fear uncertainty and despair.
Probably could be your rivals perpetrating such unnecessary drama. Well you can report them in the reputation section

+links
I would like to add yuluxugi32132, nimiq-shitcoin, wentian.cn and robin.nimiq, that weren't mentioned in your post.

Also, they're not FUDders. They're genuinely pissed off about the lack of progress being made. "FUD" implies they are attempting to discredit the project so its coin will fall in value and they can buy it for cheaper. That's not the case with what you have going on in your thread.
The term "FUDers" is maybe not the best to qualify this, but these users still want to discredit the project. I can't be 100% since I don't have many proofs, but we are suspecting them to be supporters of a competitor of Nimiq, called Webdollar.
There are even open source projects that have more work committed. One example is the nimiq's biggest competitor, namely WebDollar. According to its github repository, WEBD devs had over  3,000+ commits in a year with no funding or ICO shit. I guess nimiq devs need pocket money to buy cannabis
But even if it's nor FUD according to your definition, in fact it's exactly like FUD : discredit a projet to earn more (not by buying cheaper, but make the price of another project rise).

By the way, I would also like to point out one thing:
Most of these accounts registered at near dates (by groups: coinfanatic registered 6 minutes after nimiq-shitcoin; andrewjaxx, john.btc and sasha.new registered during the same morning; robin.nimiq registered one hour after wentian.cn; finally Scamiq2 registered 8 minutes after matthewgpu). And they use the same codes: big bold red posts (with caps lock), saying always the same things, repeating some words (ex: "bad bad" "dead dead"), making always the same language errors... So they are most likely the same person. To be honest, I read all of their posts, I just have the feeling that I'm reading one only person talking to himself.
I know multi-account is allowed, but here it is clearly abused to spam the thread. And generally, known multi-accounts deserve a red tag (besides, they seem to like red Tongue).

Use the advise given earlier in the thread. Lock the thread and make a self moderated thread so you can delete comments that you don't want there.

Alternatively you can read the rules and rigorously report posts that break the rules.

Just be aware that FUD on bitcointalk is not the end of the world. The site is known not to moderate poor opinion and some people with poor opinions will be very aggressive and persistent with their conduct.

Most people read right through this. Some threads just get dominated by jerk circle trolls and there is not a lot that can be done about it other than to move to a self moderated thread or just put them on ignore.

It is interesting to read some of the uneducated and plain stupid opinions by some posters - there is a whole thread dedicated to it.

Speculation on events is another thing. "Actions speak louder than words." You can make all the announcement but until something actually happens people will keep complaining about it. If you missed your roadmap deadline then meeting your target will silence your critics more than talking about it and trying to defend your position.

If someone makes false claims - only an event that proves them wrong will make them a liar. No amount of discussion will change it.

Sometimes it pays to just put some users on ignore.

The British monarchy use a "never explain, never complain" policy.  This is based on that
Quote
"Never explain — your friends do not need it, and your enemies will not believe you anyway"

Quote
Explaining gives power to another. When someone criticizes or insults you, gets offended by something you do or say, or questions your decisions and why you’ve chosen to do something a certain way, it’s natural to want to explain why you think they’re wrong

Quote
If you’re in a situation where a complaint will accomplish nothing, then common sense dictates that you should remain silent.

It takes restraint not to respond but:

Quote
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Indeed, the results of your nice investigation is worth taking attention of Moderators, even without solid proofs about from rules breacking. Not all issues can be judged by forum rules. I can see a lot of accounts being banned or Red trusted by suspicion.

Why do I get the feeling this thread was created just to peddle your coin in Meta?
Why not to follow your feeling and report the thread to Moderators? I think it's better then this bad distraction sentence:
OP, a solution has been provided, lock the thread and let us get back to our regularly scheduled DT drama.

I think the OP is facing a real issue and not just a try to peddle the coin, while i think it's better to move the topic to Reputation section, it's the appropriate board.

You can't report someone for fud like this.

Moderator will have to go trough 2600+ posts in that thread and do very deep research about project and team members before taking any action and even if they take any action after all this, there is possibility that action could be wrong.

There is a reason why this isn't moderated.

I know multi-account is allowed, but here it is clearly abused to spam the thread.
What is it now, FUD or SPAM?

Learn to read. Then read the rules. Then read the first page of this thread. Then ignore the advice and continue whining because you're too dumb to understand the rules and/or too lazy to click the "Report to moderator" button.

Why do I get the feeling this thread was created just to peddle your coin in Meta? You're not interested to even read the rules to figure out what is allowed and what is not. If you want red trust for someone - open a scam accusation on the appropriate board.

I thought of a self moderated thread but I think it could be seen as a biased channel and would not help with the actual problem.
I wanted to bring the topic here since it is very easy for moderators to see that the aggressive behavior I commented is specific to the group of users I included before and goes against basic civilized discussion.

Still appreciate the suggestion, but would love to solve it without creating a self moderated thread though Smiley
Just explain why you created your ANN thread self-moderated. Saying that there is a group of members here saying non-factual statements against your thread and the only reason why you created it so that you can delete the FUD they are creating to damage your project. I know it may look bad but its your only alternative as there is no guarantee that mods will be deleting their posts on your ANN thread.

I guess you'll have to live with it. Many are playing their game in an attempt to lower prices and buy lower.

Others are really trying to warn other members because let's be honest: in 95% of the cases, these projects really are scams and shitcoins. So in general, we're lucky enough to have this freedom of expression.

I've not been on the Altcoin Discussion threads for quite some time, so I completely forgot about the FUDers. Smiley

1. The thread isn't in Altcoin Discussion, its in Announcements.

2. Did you not read the post immediately above yours which was written by somebody who has actual knowledge of the situation?

Set local rules, in which you specify that from this moment onwards, certain users are no longer allowed to post in the thread. If they continue, report the posts and point out to the Mods that they break local rules.

Or:
Hire an independent user to manage a self-moderated thread.

It does look suspicious that they all registered recently.
These users have posted in https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/annnim-nimiq-the-browser-based-blockchain-1952324:

We think the behaviour of these users goes against the very purpose of Bitcointalk (or any forum). Checking our thread it is easy to see that Nimiq has always answered all questions, keeping honesty and transparency in high value. We ask for help to keep the thread civilized, allowing Bitcointalk readers to be able to read it.

I previously took an in-depth look at your project and I have to say the problem you're mostly suffering from is a bunch of genuinely angry investors. They feel cheated. Sounds like there hasn't been much development as of late and if you (or the Nimiq team) wants to quell them you should give them some reason for hope.

I don't see how that is multi posting, it was just trying to engage in a discussion with one of these users. Not copying content, just having a discussion.
Multi posting and copy/pasting are different things. What suchmoon tried to say is that you posted multiple posts, one after the other but you should have edited your previous post with the content of the new post.

Like in the example here:

Just a few minutes after that you make another post at January 31, 2019, 12:03:52 PM

According to forum rules:

32. Posting multiple posts in a row (excluding bumps and reserved posts by the thread starter) is not allowed.
You can read about the rules here:

Multiple posts in a row are not allowed.

I still believe these types of users should be disabled by moderators, I don't see any reason not to do so.

The reason is that moderators won't "disable" users unless they break the rules, which you really should read.

The things that you mentioned - insults, aggressive behavior, etc - are not moderated. You can report the users for actual rule violations, such as multi-posting and low-value posts, but you are also multi-posting yourself so I would suggest to read the rules first.

I don't see how that is multi posting, it was just trying to engage in a discussion with one of these users. Not copying content, just having a discussion.

If you don't think accounts with only these types of messages concern the moderators of the forum then there is nothing more I can do. I thought I should bring this to your attention to get to a proper solution (I don't think a self moderated thread is it).

I still believe these types of users should be disabled by moderators, I don't see any reason not to do so.

Thanks for the swift help. I guess have no option but to create a self moderated thread  Embarrassed
