I may write code in exchange for bitcoins.
I tried to buy a beer at the pub once but they said i couldn't drink until transaction confirmed, i paid in fiat.
So in answer to your question no i haven't spent any btc face to face yet but just like my first root i'm sure i will always remember when it happened and how it was.  Wink

Damn, stingy bar, eh?  Unless they're totally packed, I find most bars will let you pay after drinking, even when paying in fiat.

I have bought only bitcoins face to face but haven't had pleasure of buying something else at any store accepting bitcoins.

I recently had my first experience paying for food and beverages in a restaurant using BTC.  It was a really fun experience to use bitcoins "in the real world" and not just for internet commerce.  I'm wondering what other people's first experence using their bitcoins fact-to-face was like.

Paying for Thai food in Amsterdam:

Never used Bitcoins in face to face transactions, but only due to lack of acceptance here.

How it is? They trust you for zero confirmation transactions, or they only allow you to go after X confirmations? Or they use some kind of 3th part processor?
Wait for confirmation is really not needed for micro transaction (e.g. coffee, restaurant etc.) - the "price" and time it take to execute a double spend will not be worth the effort.
I agree. If you are doing a smaller transaction then most merchants should be able to accept a 0/unconfirmed TX as long as the proper fee is attached.

I prefer FIAT for F2F Tx. Bitcoin is online money and an investment asset for me. I prefer to spend my FIAT and HODL Bitcoin Wink

The process is to spend the bitcoin then immediately replenish it into your holdings.

This way you support the economy / currency and improve your own chances of your holdings being worth more one day.

Terrible idea to just hold and only spend fiat IMO.

Agree, in general I'm trying to hold my btc for the change that there's a future value increase.  However, actually spending them on the street means that businesses that adopt them, set up to use them are validated in that decision which in turn increases the value of my holdings.

Second of all, it's was just plain fun to go out and do it.  I'm planning on doing it again, tbh.

I don't know exactly what you mean, but as I said in my post, if you're going to a restaurant, they typically give you the bill after you've already eaten everything anyway.  So there's already a matter of trust.  In my case, the server said "all good" before any confirmations, but then again, it would be weird to say ok you have to wait for 10 minutes while we get a new block (plus the waitstaff doesn't even know what a block is, they're just following on-screen instructions).

For other types of transactions, obviously it's another story.

But If buying a car, house, boat, 1kg of gold etc. then yes, then is a few confirms needed.

This is the land of wolves now & you're not a wolf
I actually haven't had a face to face yet.   I have sold some Jordans through this forum for BTC and that went very smoothly.  I sent the shoes internationally, and had no issues.

I have had some people offer to meet up (that I met through this forum), to purchase some of the Supreme clothing that I have for sale, but most of the people found this thread using a google search (I am assuming), and just signed up for an account here to contact me, because each of them have been wanting to pay in fiat.   Some of them didn't even know what Bitcoin was...

I bought a coffee at Vapelab in London. I did it only because I have forgotten to take my wallet though, otherwise I wouldn't.
